Hike was heart pounding! Kinda insane that climbers would often use a rope for stuff like this even with both hands free and available, and as skiers we just freeclimb this kind of high stakes/no-fall zone stuff in clunky ski boots, snow, mittens, and while carrying skis and poles.
Just imagine big with 3’ of fresh! Best day of my life on my snowboard was a Tuesday after a 3’ storm. It was literally myself and two other skiers that lapped big all day with 3’ of fresh snow from the prior night. I straightlined it from about where you stopped to meet your buddy halfway down.
Ahaha so sketchy! I was re living this when I was editing the video, doing the same thing hahhahaha. I mean it was worth it because I didn’t fall or die. But I am not doing it again
Quite the entry and then that hair-raising hike. Unfortunate the bit you put on your skis is not in the clip as was waiting to see how you engineered that solution below that convex rocky outcrop you were hanging onto. Nice video.
@@justinmtbiking Was just there last week of March. Managed to ski Liberty Bowl in an absolute whiteout guided by most able instructor-guide Cory, otherwise that would not have happened. This is quite the feat, the hike across, if your downhill leg had given way even once…not even worth thinking about! Once again, just curious, how’d you get around that last convex bit where you used your pole to make a sort of minuscule platform or even more intriguing did you put your skis on there, and how the F did you manage that ? Remarkable feat, notwithstanding clearly the skiing is stellar.
I did it around that same time last year I did not put on skis but I wish I did it is easy to slide off the part of dobys you traverse a wall it is so scary
Awesome video! Question for you, would it have been easier to hike with your skis on so you had a bit more edge and security when performing that traverse?
@@justinmtbiking They make these funny bags that you can strap on your back that makes carrying skis, water, extra gear etc. really easy and leave your hands free for whatever. I think they’re called backsacks or something like that. 😅
That hike was insane. Huge props for doing that, you crushed it 🤙
Haha thanks dude!!! Praise be to God for making me not fall!
That was so sketchy!!! I was so nervous just watching. I’m so glad you are safe. Hug your loved ones!
Hahahahah thank you clay. I hugged chase when I got to the bottom and I was so thankful to be alive
Good job skiing Dobies with flare after that scary hike in. It would have taken me a while to stop shaking!
Wow, I didn’t expect the hike to be THAT sketch. Great video, thanks for sharing.
Great skiing too.
Yea it’s quite exposed lol. Good times haha. Thanks mannn
Respect Sir, that took balls of steel to do. Your GoPro got the crazy steepness of the slope and gnarliness of the walk up perfectly!
hahahaha thanks! the hike was definitely the skecthy part!

Dude that’s amazing. Good for you man. So much fun
Brah that was sooo gnar! Had me on the edge of my seat!
Tip my hat to you bud!!
🙌💪
lol thank you! It was so scary lollll
That hike was nuts. It’s probably easier to hike with your skis on lol.
Dude, very sketchy! I would’ve loved to to have my skis on ha ha
no way down but forward, so sick! when there was a cut and you suddenly had skis on i was all WHAAAAT!! what do you think, was it worth it?
Ahaha so sketchy! I was re living this when I was editing the video, doing the same thing hahhahaha.

one little slip with no skis on and you are headed to the bottom. very smart to put on the skis.
Ohhh yea dude. Sooo sketch. That was the move for this run for sure. Throwing them on and having edges 😂
Yes bro so sick been wanting to check this one out for so long, good to see you got it
Heck ya bro! Send it!

Well I definitely was scared and I could not really see a safe way around, thats why I did what I did!
Thanks for your support!

Awesome video! That hike was ridiculous.
Thank you! Yes it almost ate me lol. So sketch
Hell yeah skied that shit perfectly and the snowpack looked pretty nice too. Hike had my hands sweating tho lol
Dudeeee thannnkkksss. That hike was so scary. UG!
Damn that was sketchy!!! Lol nice job!
Awesome video! Question for you, would it have been easier to hike with your skis on so you had a bit more edge and security when performing that traverse?
I mean maybe, but you would have destroyed the boot pack, and it would have been hard to climb with the consistency of the snow

@@johns3106 haha yea I’d like to get one for the hiking stuff! Mystery ranch makes good ski holding straps for their paks!
The hiking along the headwater is already very scary. But this one is even more!
OH YES
Putting the skis on must've been nerve wracking!
Do you need a shovel and probes to do big couloir?
Nope!
What ski mitts are you wearing?
Flylow
@@justinmtbiking thanks !
That was awesome. Totally sketch hike.
Yea dude. TOTALLY sketch hike 😂😂
Put your skis on a pack, makes that hike feel a lot better. Don't shoulder your skis in terrain like that.
Yep! Would be nice to have a pack haha
Sick. Never seen a live shot of dobes
A love?
@@justinmtbiking auto correct got me.
What happens if you drop a ski? What do you do?
Probably have to backtrack to the couloir? Don’t want to think of that haha
Hell yeah looks like big sky
You are sure right! Haha
how steep would you say dobies couloir is compared to big couloir? steeper or not as steep?
Definitely steeper. I only went half way up, but if you went to the top it’s even more steep
Is the top part of big couloir the hardest part? Because the bottom looks like 35 degrees
Top half is definitely steeper than the bottom
good job!!!
Thanks!
Katie walked out at 4 minutes, stressed out. In....sane...
Hahahahhahaha. That’s SO classic.
My toxic trait is thinking i can do this with my snowboard but i dont think i can 😂
People do it, but I will say that I’m not doing it again 😂
Looked hella steep even on camera!
Oh it was so sketch!!!
Nice vid.
Jeezus…😱🤙
Is the king of the Jews!
Book a 3-strokes traversing lesson, brother. Nice skiing anyway.
That's playing way too close to the edge!!
Gnarly
Never been in such a dangerous position
@@justinmtbiking no fall zone without skis lmao
