Most of the time these days, I listen to a song I really want to make a mashup with, then begin scrolling through my instrumentals + acapellas to see what may possibly work with it, and whatever sounds interesting to me, I attempt the mashup :) Other times one song will remind me of another song, and that's when I make the mashup for it :)
