The Real Rufus won't "let go".
That hit deep.
@Kirsten Hilario i will :3
You are now aware of a song called "Let me go Let you go"
y e s, doomsday, we need more of that hobo man with the choir singing
The hobo man is the Game creator himself. Haha.
Unfortunately there is no Huzzah songs in doomsday.
There is ONE Huzza Song in Doomsday
@@Dustwing good enough
also how tf did I get this many likes, I didn't see THIS many when I checked
yes there is one more hope
The ass speech is the single greatest moment in adventure game history.
it reminded me of that clip from space balls where Dark Helment was like "I knew it, I'm surrounded by assholes!" XD
I am so greatfull I am from Germany and was able to play in the original version. The voiceacting is soo good.
It "starts" with him falling...it ends with him falling...
Because Rufus never change
Typical of Rufus actually, one step away from Elysium but then he always take the "looser" decision.
The end, for now. But doomsday on deponia, that would be a yes from me.
No no belive me you wont like it....
@@THE_GREAT_SUN i saw it myself
I know how each of you are sad over rufus’ death and to be fair that shows how much the developers worked on the story. What’s even more interesting is how all three of them, argus baliff and rufus, they are but the same clone with minor differences. The main one is not about the clone machine going wrong and what not, but the fact that the three of them lived in different places with different people. It shows how a character is not “made” , like simply clones, but were shaped by whatever they were in
I agree with your points. But my criticism of the ending would be that it felt "incomplete" and badly explained. A bit hastely put together just to wrap things up and also the fact that Goal suddenly shifts gears emotionally from losing her true love to suddenly smirking and joking at the expense of Cletus which was strange and it left a bad aftertaste.
Overall I loved the game and liked 95% of the content story and puzzles, nothing wrong with a sad ending but in my opinion the ending was emotionally clumsy and probably rushed to wrap things up and in bad taste which wouldn't be the first time that happens within the game.
Masterpiece non the less. :)
he doesnt die, id like to think, cause if you play Anna's Quest, theres an easter egg of him (blink and miss it) him falling into a stack of hay.

After what Toni said, I *literally* thought : "Thicc Booty" out loud before it flashed across the screen for a second 😆
Inclined to agree
Next the 4th deponia game look forward to see that
It's a must play especially when you know the backstory of the 4th installment
Doomsday is hell.
It will be fun to watch this suffering
The ending is sad. But the suggested video at the end:
"I ordered a Happy ending massage but ..." hit it even more.
Yes, this was supposed to be the ONE TRUE ENDING. It was supposed to teach the Player a lesson in "letting go". Obviously people hated it and they made very grudgingly a 4th game "Doomsday" which is kind of trolling the players who wanted a "better ending". BUT it is nonetheless an amazing game and you absolutely NEED to play it. It fits perfectly into the series and it rounds up character storylines (some story arcs of side characters are filled up rather nicely, you didn't even know you needed to know about it until after you played it, trust me). You will LOVE Doomsday, PS.: I love your Gameplay of Deponia, I always wait for it anxiously.
Maybe its only me, but while the ending with letting go is ok, its quite a dramatic twist from a character whose only positive characteristic so far was that he never gave up. In other words, there was a sudden shift in his character from my perspective - maybe I missed some foreshadowing.
@Dion Fortune but thats what games are for anyway... to escape the llife we know, and have to trudge through. I seen alot of better games that done endings better than this that actually killed the protagonist and was still a true end with a good feeling.... this was hollow af.
@Dion Fortune Look, I said it about mass effect 3 and I'll say it about this.
People don't play through three entire games, getting to know people, and building up a colourful main character, just to have an unhappy ending. It's deeply unsatisfying, and it sours the whole experience. You can have your MC die, and still be happy. But to have them be destroyed by their attempts to improve themselves, and then be replaced by the first antagonist of the game? it's maddening.
@@Cpl.Punishment In my opinion, this MC didn't deserve a happy ending. For all his good (?) intentions - his actions in the last game show that even he is a better person that when he started off, he's still very much oblivious towards the lives of anyone who isn't Goal or himself. Dying a hero was the best case scenario for Rufus, because otherwise he'd just fall right into another way to endanger everyone he just rescued.
That said, Rufus never felt like a player's avatar to me, compared to Shepard in ME. It's not like a player has any agency in a protagonist's actions in games like these - you just observe them. Just as if you were reading a book.
P.S. Also, I wasn't happy about ME3 ending either, but the idea that a character should get a happy ending simply by the virtue of being a player's avatar, no matter what he does feels... wrong.
Okay, I'm one of the people who played this game and felt extremely unsatisfied with the ending of Goodbye Deponia. The issue in my opinion with the ending is not that either Rufus deserves a good end or not. But how half-assed they handled the ending's tone and message. Not only they don't give any foreshadowing that Rufus dies, In the ending scene after Rufus sacrifices himself to save Elysium, They act like this is a great happy ending for everything with the music and tone, but literally throwing a damn joke in at the part Rufus sacrifices himself for others.
I think a lot of people point out that character-wise Rufus is not a good person in the slightest, therefore he doesn't deserve a good ending. But this is a videogame, *of course* the players are going to be identifying themselves with Rufus in the story, they literally control Rufus and Follow them along. Combined this with the ending scene with absolutely no fucking description of what happened to Elysium or Deponia. It just feels extremely unsatisfying. You end up with a story that basically kills off "You" and cuts the story. And explains nothing of what happened.
I remember playing this when it came out and when he fell I cried for like an hour. I wanted a happy ending for them so much. In my eyes, Rufus and Goal definitely had earned to reach Elysium, some quiet times and peace. But then I read the thread in the Deponia forum where so many ppl complained about the ending that Poki, the mastermind behind the series, explained why he chose this ending and I totally see where he's coming from. Actually, I think it's impressive they stuck to it and defend it instead of giving in.
He said that Rufus would not be happy with Goal on Elysium, the way he is. And yes, he wouldn't be happy, he would get bored after 5 minutes and maybe grow to despise everyone and Goal for it after some time - just like it happened with Toni. He could've had a good, happy life with Toni already. He just didn't want it, because yes, it was peaceful and quiet and boring.
After that, my only critique point was that he never reached Elysium, but I guess that's what Deponia Doomsday was for :D
For me, these games are and always will be one of my favourite video games ever.
Would love to see you play it Mr Falcon.
oh my.. Rufus totally died.. :(
I didn't believe at first but I see your comment and knowing the reason behind it..
so sad..
Unless...
Nah, forget it...
Unless...
With Toni's ass, everyday would be a bang in the buck. Lol
Yeah, as much as I would have like a good end for Rufus, I just can't imagine him settling down. In the best case scenario he probably would have left looking for troubles again. I can imagine Goal tagging along though, and it's probably the only way their relationship could have worked in the long term.
In the other hand, this is one hell of a send-off for a character even 90% of people in this very comment section wrote off as morally repugnant.
@@poison2028 Sorry, there is no "unless".
With Hermes dead, no one can bring Rufus back to life.
You could have chosen all options in Rufus's speech, the speech wouldve been longer then. It's so funny, I always crack up when he talks about the Organon's logo and how it might have come to be by a person sitting on a photocopier with his bare ass :D
Love the Organon Hymn, it's so over the top epic :D back when Doomsday came out, the game developers made a concert tour with their band and played the songs from the games (and some of their own songs) live and it was so funny. I saw them twice, once in a sportsbar in Cologne, Germany that was way too small for so many people, and the bartenders were cracking up laughing all the time thanks to the lyrics, and once in a club, also in Cologne that's usually only playing electronic music and they were equally confused and amused by them and the crowd singing the Organon Hymn and everything else.
I met some other fans there and we became fast friends, and we still are.
The short hymn is annoying, but the full one is epic.
Its sad Falcon did not let it go.
Doomsday was literally made to shut up fans that complained about the ending of the main tirllogy, it is well worth checking out, but it is good to temper ones expectations as this single enstalement can´t hope to live up to the real deal
But it also is the biggest and cleanest deponia game
@@louiskurby81 well, yeah? The game is made like a loop, of course it's the longest. Loops are *limitless* .
Well, yes it was an addendum but Deponia Doomsday was great.
And so the story ends here... Or is it? Doomsday here we go? This last chapter was the first part that made me cry, the second is the last game.
If this make you cry then doomsday will make you depresed, its worse
@@darkdarkniss6563 already saw it mate, i know how i would cry.

Dammit, I actually hoped for a better ending. I also hope that Goal knows that the real Rufus let go and fell. I'm honestly conflicted, I hope Rufus magically survived and comes back in a later game
she knows... which is why she looked sad at the end and left the "fake" rufus in there looking like an idiot... and rufus is 100% confirmed dead... as the developers said themselves he would never have been happy on elysium anyways... he would have gotten bored and destroyed it so this is the best possible ending that could have happened with him.
I guess that is true, thanks for clarifying it
after investing so much of my time and enjoying this thoroughly it would only be conceived as a crime if Doomsday isn't given a shot.
Where I think Doomsday did not stand firm could be surmized to the Red thread being lost during the second half, not leading to a conclusion, even with Poki’s choice of not handing out happy endings in mind.
That said. YES to Doomsday! There’s still the same charm, intriguing characters and lots of fun moments (Lotti’s origin, and maybe Goals most lovable angry moment)
Doomsday makes one feel for Rufus. It has my vote.
Wait a minute, That moment with the turbine and goal deciding which is the real Rufus, does that mean all three Rufus, Cletus and Argus changed. Rufus being the unique selfish flawed clone changing his whole outlook in life, while the other two Developed the *Same Flaw* as Rufus in not wanting to die
They've always had that "flaw" though. Cletus did everything in the trilogy to avoid dying with Elysium. And Argus' plan was to keep himself and the other Organon alive. In fact, I don't think any of the Organon ever truly were ok with death. That's just what Hermes and Ulysses deluded themselves into thinking to avoid guilt over what they were doing...
So... Rufus win, he laugh to the end!
The best way end is smile and laugh. I love this end!
And Cletus is forced all his life to play as Rufus, in a way Rufus won.
3:26 lol the way they look each other is priceless
That ending hit me deep during my playthrough but I think it was beautiful. Who'd have thought that something what I got as bonus from newspaper from few years back would get me so deep. To be honest, I only played that because I watched your Edna and Harvey gameplay. Thought myself:"It's the same studio, why not?", and here I am today, with whole trilogy past me and currently planning to replay whole story in complete edition before I'll sit to Deponia Doomsday to finally complete the story of Rufus. I'm looking to what you decide.
Yes please!
Been following you and these series (all the way back with Edna and Harvey) and can't wait to watch more!
Thanks for all of them!
It has been one long month since the last installment of the deponia, but we are still hopeful that it may continue someday either in our hearts or of this UA-cam channel
(in other words, give us the crack falcon!)
1:56 I was "distracted" as well for a good 30-60 seconds.
Cletus is forever Rufus
A fate worse than Death xD
Damn that ending hit hard, but rough endings are what make things memorable and more realistic and not forced, that’s why books such as where the red ferns grow and Fields of Fire are so good
Yay!!! Onward with another adventure with mr.falcon
Nice, I get to watch this, sleep and wake up for my first day on school
Probably my biggest gripe with the Deponia trilogy is its ending. It would otherwise rank really high in my favorite game trilogies but Goodbye Deponia seriously dropped the ball with this.
EDIT: read some of the comments and I should elaborate that I'm fine with the idea of letting go and Rufus changing for the better but the way they got there is just so contrived. Why didn't Rufus tell her something only he knew? Why did he lie when it would've taken the same amount of time for him to get out as everyone else? Why did Goal play along with it, knowing full well that choosing the wrong Rufus doomed both Elysium and her boyfriend?
Like, they're acting deliberately out of character so they can get to an ending that didn't fit that the writer clearly had in mind. Makes no sense at all.
i love this game im hooked on every episode and cant wait for the next episodes
Yesssssssss. Please do it falcon.
I love your content please make more
That was a very nice adventure, thank you Mr Falcon! One more, please? :p
The ending was a real bummer up until Berry hit that satellite and Rufus starts laughing his ass of. 😂👍
It seems there is unanimous support for playing the 4th installment Falcon! Let's fire it up!
yes please continue the series
I loved it .. Thanks to yr channel!!
"And he laughed."
Rufus D. Ass
Rip Rufus, for ever in our hearts
That ending man was so beautifuly funny with the literal fan harassing Rufus to his death. If the next game is dispiting the fans I really do think it be great , and Un like any thing I have seen on critique on fan culture. Instead pulling a Star Wars.
Loved it. The whole thing. The entire series.
i love how the first game rufus was going to pretend to be cletus just for it to flip in the end
wow that ending cut deep! I thought that "theres no way hes going to fall all the way back to the planet!" I thought that he would grab the rope and do something cunning to make his way back onto the ship! I cryed at the end after realizing I was wrong! I would love to see doomsday!
Hope to see more
Falcon how can you say no to another chapter after what just happened i love this series and would be overjoyed to see it through the end
We need more Deponia!
Yes play the 4th one
Watched this episode 2 hours ago. I had to come back and say: That hurt me emotionally. That wasn't fair for a zany cartoon story to come out of nowhere from making but jokes as little as 20 minutes before suckerpunching me right in the feels.
Poki (Director of the game studio and guy singing in cut scenes) made Deponia: Doomsday for ninnies who couldn't agree with Rufus letting go (he literally tells so in the first and only song of the game). We still don't know what happens afterwards. They told that there will be continuation of the story but it will not be about Deponia, but it became the same thing for me as "half life 3 confirmed".
Someone call Feelz Goodman cause his brother Feelz Sadman drank too much and can't get off me.
Still a good game to experience.
I need more!
Demmm. Story is getting better. Nice
Yes, continue if possible
I have no clue what the next game is like, but judging by the comments and the games so far, i can't miss this.
YES MORE DEPONIA!!!
RUFUS NOOOOOO
RUFUUUUUUUS :((
YOU WILL BE REMEMBERED AS A HEROOO
OF COURSE MUST PLAY!!!
I fell so bad rufus was such a good character
Yessssss do MOREEEE
Yes for the next on the series.
Maybe I’m being quite childish for thinking this, but I really do hope that maybe, just maybe, Rufus can be with Goal together making any time of inventions, Goal being happy and laughing about how messy Rufu’s creations are and Rufus just admiring Goal and talking a lot about his failed creations :’0
And then they live in deponia of course
You have to do the next one. It can't end at that.
Amazing
yessss another episode finally yay yay but its the last one 😰
Yes to that!
Yes more deponia
It started with Rufus falling to his death for another, and it ended with Rufus falling to his death to save another.
I've never actually played the fourth game (I originally bought the trilogy), so I don't know what comes next.
Hey Falcon I have just a suggestion on something you could play
Darkwood is finally out of the alpha
well it was for quite a bit of time
Yeah! I totally vote for more Deponia!
i need more deponia i need my daily dose man.
I didn't think this game could give me feels
Yeah do the next one please
Lol I just figured out organon means tool. So it's no suprise they are kinda... dull.
I can’t believe there’s so many games in this series if only there was more eden and Harvey but yes please play doomsday in deponia
Spoiler alert: Doomsday on Deponia doesnt end much differently and only tugs on your heart more
Do more!!
Yes!
Darn that ending tho. . .I never thought there were onions there.
Seriously, a Character Development for Rufus was very much needed, but this ending logically doesnt make sense at all.
A) Goal can easily identify the real Rufus by his beard
B) Why didnt the rotor start spinning when Rufus let go? It required all three of them to keep it steady, because anyone could start it back up if wanted, as seen in some dialogue options
YES
Well, that was quite a journey. I kind of wish you'd not marathoned the end and made two episodes, maybe leaving a bit more room for commentary but oh well. It was still fun.
Deponia: Doomsday... as people have said, the creator(s) didn't want to make it and they make it quite clear in game but I don't think it hurts the quality. It's a bit long but it's still a (very) good game, and if you liked 1-3, I think you will enjoy it, too.
You've heard of the Sierra Madre Casino. We all have, the legend, the curses. Some foolishness about it lying in the middle of a City of Dead. A city of ghosts. Buried beneath a blood-red cloud... a bright, shining monument luring treasure hunters to their doom. An illusion that you can begin again, change your fortunes. Finding it, though, that's not the hard part. It's letting go.
YES that's it
Falcon: "Why am I observing her breasts?"
Well this is Rufus after all, a little murder, a little poisoning and ruining of lives, and a little child endangerment. The blatant don't-be-surprised-if-she-kicks-you-in-the-crotch staring at breasts just seems par for the course for him.
As for the Doomsday Deponia please do that one too Falcon.
Bro I miss ruffus
I just realized that your remark about the chin hair is what set them apart, if he mentioned that he would have been a able to go to Elysium.
yes yes yes we need to know what hapens next
deponia doomsday? its another game about deponia and i whoud like to seeit from your perspective please do it if you read this
"Do we do dooms-" Yes definitely Yes
Perfecto
Lets do it deponia for a 100 years a an forever and ever
Yes
MORE Deponia PLEASE!!!! DO the 4th installment!!!
The devs forgot to remove the tank from the background at the beginning
Remember to play the fourth game Falcon
Well let's see here bad ending but good ending for the Elysium, Rufus might just do the same thing happened to His ex on this part who knows this game has lot of options, a very good company of you playing this mr falcon, love your walk throughs
Noooo the ending is soooo sad :(
And
Yesss, continue Doomsday
