I like how this forces you to use the corruption chasms, instead of just flying up to an arena on the surface.

woah, this is amazing! I clicked on this video thinking it was just going to be "eater of worlds but it actually destroys blocks" but Floor of Flesh is 100 times scarier and more challenging. Probably the part that would be most likely to kill me is when it spawns a ton of soul eaters

At first I was like “oh I guess it’s like the wall of flesh” and then as I went on I realized this was waaaay more scary and threatening, not to mention it fits the name “eater of worlds” so much better than a big worm

The thing that makes this scarier,is the death animation ,because he dosent even die,he just goes away,thus it implies it is still alive

Or, and here's a crazy thought, you're just creating justification for the mod developer for being lazy. VERY highly doubt the mod developer intended for a "epic secret lore" when he just reworked a boss. This isnt the calamity mod people you're just reading too into this.

Maybe when hardmode comes around, the fight becomes harder with extra loot and harder mechanics, but this time you can actually kill it instead of minorly inconveniencing it.

This is actually a super neat concept. Melee and summoner likely would hate their lives, but still really neat!
Summoner eould be fine probably. Melee i don't know how youd do melee on the boss ngl ig flails yoyo or smthn like trimarang

This works surprisingly well. The chasms acting as your only method of escape is cool and all, but I like the tension that builds as you stand on the last remaining ground that hasn’t been devoured by that disgusting mass. This could easily be turned into some kind of chase scene
The scariest part is that it’s not a thing with eyes, or moves in a lively way.
It’s just a horrifyingly large mass that creeps towards the player.
Dude NGL this feels like it could be re-made into a battle against the corruption itself, maybe the reward is that it's progression is halted or smth because you literally killed it, but overall looks sick.
I actually had an idea for a boss that once beaten, the corruption will shrink back and become (eventually) nothing but the Purity.

@@yarnicles4616 I was only saying what happens when you beat it, that's not the whole boss, it will be a hard one, so you feel as if you are being rewarded.

Itd be neat if it also spawned something like 5 segments of the EoW worm as an attack, so the old version is still represented.
That for expert/master, it may be too much in normal mode, that thing is scary af 😂😂
It would be cool if it just spawned the entirety of the eater of worlds when playing in the get fixed boi seed

Since he’s an early game boss, you’d have to fight him without wings. If you found a way to get the player out of the pits, they would have to rely on a tower. There’s some strong visualization you could do there, the players building a tower of babel to escape the world below.
Something I would do, replace the cursed flame bursts with spawning in “sentient acidic spit worms” that are just weaker smaller versions of the original boss. That way the gameplay of the original boss is present and given a homage
I thought this would be a meme, most likely something similar to whatever the heck Skeletron Prime has going on in the Zenith seed with his bombs, where the Eater of Worlds would be the same except it'd just straight up destroy the blocks it digs through.
What I got instead was a cosmic horror that filled me with more dread than the Wall of Flesh did on my first encounter with it. Well played, I am thoroughly mortified at this wonderful abomination of a boss!
Thanks for the nightmare fuel I never thought I would find a boss scarier than WoF but here it is the Floor of flesh. Althought it might be kinda easy if you just blow up the surface of the corruption and make some platforms but the crimson one was just as good while not being to difficult so I like it either way. Can't wait for this mod!

When I clicked into this video, I had visions of the Eater as normal, except deleting whatever blocks it came into contact with. This is so much more terrifying than I could have possibly imagined.
very cool, great sound design! you could make it scarier by adding some more gore like teeth and eyes in all the wrong places, and/or animation similar to how how the wall of flesh appears to writhe and move
Not a bad idea. I'm pretty happy with the visual design as it is so I can't promise I'll change it at all, but I'll at least consider it
The corruption is dead and decay, I think that would make the FoF too alive.

When I heard "eater of worlds" as a kid this is exactly how I pictured this fight, except I was imagining the tiles getting removed permanently as the eater touched them. Great work!
Hell yeah, not only is the concept itself amazing, the execution is great too! The projectiles make it a much more interesting boss than just have splash damage and win

this is insane lol, first i thought it was gonna be regular eow but it would make every block it touches disappear, so you'd be left with bunch of tunnels after the fight

This terrifies me more than the actual EoW when I saw it for the first time, The way it just slowly rises towards the player is nightmare fuel and I love it, Can't wait to see what you do next!
This is actually a really cool take on the water of worlds. The fight seems paced well and the attacks are thought out. Even if you just built a really tall arena on the surface it would still have a cool effect.
It's literally the same 3 moves while he just spams grenades and vilethorn lmao. Its alright but nowhere NEAR how much hype you guys are giving it.
this was pretty cool there should be like an eldritch horror boss rework mod that turns all the bosses terrifying -I mean as if they aren’t terrifying enough 😅
this is sickkkkk!!! i can totally see this as an alternate concept for eater of worlds, it's so well made and the boss fight works great with the corruption's naturally deep chasms
my only nitpick is with the purple projectiles attack (which i'm assuming are eaten souls), the sprites themselves seem to suffer from mixeling and the purple fire is generally associated with shadowflame instead of corruption's cursed inferno. other than that though, i'm lovin' this
This is awesome, I think if you added some wiggly animations and maybe some way for melee players to have equal chances it would be perfect.
That's an amazing piece of work. During my first playthrough, the boss seemed more terrifying than it actually was, but this version is scary for a reason
If I can make a suggestion, I feel like it should be able to spawn slow-moving worms that move in a diagonally-upward concertina fashion. These could chase players out of the chasms while also giving a way for melee players to damage the boss (The worms share the same health pool as the boss).
Not a bad idea, but I'm afraid it could completely change the vibe of the fight. Bear in mind that melee weapons at this point in the game just suck, and if you tried to use a sword on the un-modded Eater of Worlds, you'd just get massacred whether you can damage it easily or not

@@Beannborito I'll probably add some Clingers, (the ones that shoot cursed flames), but I think I'll leave out the leeches, since I don't want this to be an exact copy of the WoF, and the normal sized Eaters of Souls more or less fill that role already
I really like the idea of completely changing the way bosses work, this looks really great, keep up the good work

I still like the original worm form of Eater of Worlds, but man this is so cool and horrifying. It would be cool if this form like some sort of "true form" of the Eater of Worlds after you defeat Moonlord if it was added to vanilla Terraria. But it still is cool as a Eater of Worlds rework though, and the only thing I'd have as an actual suggestion is that it should have a bunch of eyes in the wall part, whether the eyes are animated, different moving parts of the boss, or even just drawn directly onto the sprite of the boss. But that's just nitpicking, because otherwise you did a good job with the boss, and now the idea of vertical walls of flesh have become more of nightmare fuel to me lol
The idea of adding eyes does sound interesting. I make no promises, but I might just do that
@@portalmech4770personally i think the lack of eyes is very eerie. Looks like a slab of skin with weird follicles. But maybe eye sockets or holes or stretch marks would make the wall look spookier?

This is the rare case where a mod actually truly represents what the base game should have been.
And I’m not saying I think the vanilla game should be changed, but this is kind of what I imagined when I first heard the name “Eater of Worlds” way back when. Also, The Wall of Flesh should be like this, covering everything behind it with its body. As of right now, the WoF just looks like the Pole of Flesh.
Actually, I like how the wall doesn’t leave itself behind. While it could be wider for a greater illusion, most walls are not blocks like your idea would suggest.

Very interesting concept! I really like the feel of it, and the phases feel very appropriate. It also demands a much different arena and strategy to a lot of the other bosses. It'd be interesting to see it a little more animated as it moves up, though, since this feels more like a slide being pulled up the screen.

maybe a post-moonlord boss spawned in the corruption. kinda like how the wall of flesh locked a bunch of things behind it, maybe moonlord does too.
the regular worm boss could be renamed to "The Scourge of Worlds" to still imply its threat.

I would lowkey love a platforming part where you have to get to space, wings disabled, jump boosts disabled and rocket boots disabled, and the water of worlds only can be damaged/finished off when you get to the top to where it stops rising

Im so glad that you actually made it make sense here, plus a boss rising from the floor is actually kinda original too, and adds for more strategy, not to mention it looks absolutely terrifying as other comments mentioned. Overall, fantastic work if you really are the OG designer! 👍

What a rework, it sounds terrifying and the slow unstoppable creep of this thing is really eerie. Especially with it retreating at the end instead of dying.

Thinking more about the boss, I think it would be neat for it to be able to defend itself, as ranger class would have this one easy. Probably something like growing branches where you hit it
I saw your Skeletron rework (newest) and this fight blew me away like the Skeletron rework did. This is such a unique take on the EoW fight and I love it. This fight creepy, daunting, and gives off peril vibes, which is great for a boss like this. This fight is perfect.
At long last.. the floor of world eating.
Combine this with two walls of flesh and the ceiling of moon lord and you’ve got yourself a truly horrifying claustrophobic battle.

Super cool rework! In practice I think it’d be really easy to cheese, but the idea of a world-sized entity slowly creeping up to swallow you and everything else is properly frightening.
Imagine it just deleting your world after failing to kill it
I like how it doesn’t even look like a monster but rather a infinitely stretching plane of correupted reeds that consume everything

you know what would make this more terrifying? a timer. showing how long you have before the world is gone forever
When I saw it, it legit goose-bumped me. It's literally slowly and disgustingly eating out the world, getting bigger in process, leaving you with less and less ground every second you're not fighting back. The creepiness only adds up because it's unlit, but maybe it would've been more terrifying, knowing that you don't see the full picture.

It's a really great rework, a better fight, visuals and lives up to its name and biome, and the fart in a bottle gives it the touch, good job i want it in tmodloader :P
Imagine if all the blocks it covered were just gone.
An entire biome gone is a little under 2 minutes.
this boss running away from you is equivalent to elephant running away from a mosquito
and now i have to imagine the whole thing slowly sliding earth into itself with googly eyes. Like a snake eating an egg, only some small dude fights its mouth corners.
