My first and beloved synth that I still keep and use. With effects it comes to life much more. The 8-step envelope that no one else has, the capacity it provides is impressive.
Nice to hear (and see!) your playing again. Helps me to learn these diverse styles. Very nice. Thanks Also, I happen to have this same keyboard so inspiring to get it back out, and perhaps onstage LOL!!
Great video. I've always loved this synth. I'm glad I found one and bought it 3 years ago, and most recently, a CZ-101. I also bought a CZ/PL 88 mini patch library, which works well with all the CZ series synths. This synth was great in 80s and 90s House music scene.
Still such a classic, and there’s many emulations of the CZ line. Would love to have a CZ-1, but I’m rockin’ the XW-P1 and PX-5S currently. So many 3rd party patches came out for the series, and sounded much better than the stock trumpets, etc, etc.
@@LittleRichard1988 I might have some cassette tapes buried somewhere but I don't have anything anymore to read them :) At least back in the time I was happy with it, although the 505 was low end
I haven't fired up my CZ-1000 in years, have a CZ-1. The 1000 has tired microswitches on the arrows under the display, gotta fix that. Anyway my point is these days it's all about making synth presets - but this demo is great - I'd forgotten how good some of the presets are, the electric piano even was a surprise.
I have to admit, the raw tone of Casio synths never really grabbed me. Although it might be a case where the tone takes on new life through external FX?
hey thanks for the tips, I did not know how to access the internal bank sounds! my cz 1000 always detunes then I have to press the reset button on the bottom of the keyboard, is there any way to fix this?
The CZ provided articulation and timbral quality that was very unique at the time. PD synthesis was a lot easer to program than FM on Yamaha's DX7, and in 1984 the CZ was under $500 for 8 voice fully programable synth with solid midi implementation (can remotely save and recall patches) so it was pretty cool. These presets are basic but it can make amazing sounds, especially with effects.
@@EgoShredder I have a Casio HT-6000, which can sound amazing - 4 DCO 8 voice with 8 analogue filters. It was $1199 RRP in 1988 according to the Keyboard Magazine review I found. So the CZ really was a bargain.
_"this keyboard sounds really terrible"_ Believe me, you have no idea what you're on. The thing is that vast people have no idea what CZ synthesizer is for that makes their assumption just looking ridiculous. But to each their own.
A classic factory preset demo from SynthMania!!! Sunday MADE! 🙏♥️😎

These are a great service to folks, showing these patches. Thanks for continuing to do these alongside you nice tracks.
Thanks for listening!
03:01 is an absolute classic oldschool-techno sound.
When you know, you know. Definitely a killer sound back in the late 80s and 90s when it came to House and Techno music.
Always great to see a CZ get some love. I've been using mine (CZ-5000) today and I love it.
Right on

Wow, those were really great patches for the mid-1980s. Some of them are still very usable today.
Indeed!

I always loved String Ens. 1
Me too, P! I need to get my paws on the plugin version by Oli Larkin at some point
This was my first synth ever! ❤ Think it was 4-tone polyphonic. Upgraded to the CZ-5000 a couple of years later
i had this one back in the time, with a Siel DK-80 and a TR-505 🙂
I have always been curious to find out how a Casio CZ-1000 or
CZ-101 would sound paired up with a Roland TR-505.

Thanks for the video Paulo, hope you’re doing well!
I hope you're doing well too
Me too! Though for me, it was CZ-101. These sounds are burned into my mind.
Cool synth! Thanks, Paolo!
Glad you like it!
Had one of these, got rid of it about 8 years ago. Wish I never got rid of it!
With effects this was a beast. A git to programme though 🤣
THNX ;)

01:33 i felt like in the movie Scarface with Tony Montana "The World is Yours"
I have one! don't use it but I should sample it
Do you have any videos with you playing around with an Oberheim? I became a proud owner of my very first Oberheim the other day :) the TEO-5 model
Yes, I have several

That's not normal, I'd take it to a tech
01:34 Cold Song, isn't it?
Not sure I understand ...
Reminds of it. Henry Purcell - Cold Song
Sounds like fairy tale needs to go up an octave. Try playing thru a pignose. Really increases the sonic quality.😃😀
11:06 Time After Time pads?... 🤔
When "Time After Time" came out, the CZ-1000 had not been produced yet
phase distortion
I’m a Casio fan, and I want to like it. But to me it sounds thin and abrasive. It’s just not for my ear. I think there’s better synths from that era.
They could benefit from some added reverb at least.
Thin and abrasive also come to my mind when I hear this, but sometimes those type of sounds work very well through FX.

@@darwiniandude True there was not much in the way of affordable gear back in the mid-80s.

The presets are kinda cheesy, but it can make some cool sounds.
It sounds like an FM synth..

keyboard? this a synthesizer, not a fancy one-knob-do-all-incl-drums machine
