The U3 is a very good piano but there are better as you have pointed out. I think that their popularity is based largely on availability. I haven't seen a Hailun while virtually every piano showroom features either Yamaha or Kawai.
Honestly not very impressed by the tone. Characterless, probably due to lack of serious voicing of the hammers. I find that even cheap hammers can be voiced well but it requires deep needling, needles out 1/4” from the voicing tool, so that the needles don’t break. Start with 1/16” to 1/8” jabs and steadily increase to where nearly full depth isn’t too difficult. Both hammer shoulders.
Yesterday, I played a hailun 48” and was impressed. This video is really helpful. Thanks
Im still blown away every time I play my HU7P. I couldnt be more impressed with an upright. Your shop did great!
Well, I’m sold. My next piano is a Hailun and I’ll come buy it from you! Thanks for the video
Hi Ryan! We are excited to meet you! If you have any questions until then, feel free to email us at Info@BrighamLarsonPianos. Thanks!
I recognize that tune as one of the great ones sung by Earnie on Sesame Street. I was delighted to hear it!
My Charles Walter studio upright has agraffes plus the other structural features you mention, and it’s hand made in Indiana.
I used to have a 1999 Charles R Walter that was in pristine condition but I upgraded to a brand new Kawai GL40 a month ago.
Thank you for all of your videos! Could you share your thoughts on Wendl and Lung pianos, and how they differ from Hailun?

Dreamy Piano
? ANY Mnfr could use aluminum
If it’s so beneficial…?
Audio is distorted. I usually enjoy you videos. Thanks.
Sorry about that! Thanks for letting us know! We’ll get better at that mic placement!
Isn't a plate composed of triangles more stable than the one on the Hailun given how stable triangles are?
There are plenty of triangles in that square shape if you look closely!
would have been great to tune the piano before the video
Brigham, the mic positioning was pretty bad in this video. Need to do a mic check periodically before you record ✌
Sorry about that! Thanks for the feedback! We’ll get that fixed for future videos! Thanks for your support!
