  • a time lapsed step by step build video of the align trex 450 pro v2, complete with all steps, info, special notes, programming setups, and more. When making this video i tried as hard as i could to cover all subjects needed to ensure that you to can do the complete build.
also note: you will need to view the 3gx setup videos series as well as the gyro setup videos as well.

Really good approach to showing a heli build. One of the very best I've seen. I'm somewhat new to this hobby and enjoy seeing the individuality of people who really apply their skills and interest to rc helis. Great music, too! Thanks.

I posted on another one of your vids but actually came across this one first. Was getting ready to start my 450 pro dfc build and looked at the manual. Sheesh. Your vid really simplifies the process. I built and flew an MA xcell 60 18 years ago and did ok, both build wise and flight. After a long time away, thought a t.rex 700e dfc would be a great way to get back into the hobby sans nitro. Then realized the 450 might be a less intimidating way to go, so your vid is a lifesaver. thanks much

Thx Freddy for this awesome build video. Great for advance pilots. Even better than helifreaks(very thorough, but long/many). Shrinking down to 15 minutes with music/text is very professional video production.

dude ur videos are so easy to follow and understand. I bought my first 450 which was a fly bar and had endless hassles, so I bit the bullet and bought the 3gx and the flybarless head and main shafts and got to work. the thing is I used the same rd and tx and all my research said it didn't have enough channels. eventually I stumbled upon one of ur videos where I found it was possible. wish I saw this video before I did my upgrade for ur running of wires. by the way I'm still a beginner and can hover and that's about it. so all the way from Zambia i thank u Freddy!

I would pack the block/tail bearings
On the 3 I made I found the bearing a little ruf and actually found Al shavings in the tail boom bearing. So I taped off the holes in the Al blocks and squeezed in Li grease into the bearings and pulled the umbrella gears and packed those then cleaned off all surface grease with Tequila (or any alcohol). On the first spin-up I cleaned off the excess surface grease. Li white grease shows up for clean up. Nice wiring!

I like keeping all my wires out of sight too,I even use black heat shrink and wire mesh to match the frame color.I really like your build. But I like keeping the esc wires outside the frame,in case I need to unplug the motor for heli programming...its alot easier. Its going to be hidden behind the canopy anyways. Thanks for your tutorial.

Thanks freedy! My T-rex 700 E had tail blades mounted backwards. Belt drive birds use tail blades mounted in the opposite direction. Checked myself using your video, your 450 is torque tube also. My T-rex 600 is belt drive tail and turns in opposite direction. Thanks for the check.

both main and rudder blades should be tight enough to hold them selfs in place but can easily colaps with litte effort. This is important for the blades to find there center once the head spins up. if they are to tight u can get vibration and flight problems, also if they are to loose they will colaps when u wind up

Hey Newb, I totally agree with Freddy. I'm "rebuilding" a 450 pro for a friend and I gotta tell you. It's a real bitch to do maintenance. Can't easily get to things. Have to remove a lot of parts just to get to a few. The pro designs is very "slim" so also a problem hanging/hiding electronics easily. As a newbie you will crash/rebuild many times. The sport or even older 450's are much easier to unassemble. Good luck.

Only 2 omissions that have to be done on a build.
    1
Paper shim the pinion to main gear.
    2
Tail assembly angle SB same as frame angle.
Suggestion add a note on vid or a note in tex
There is other things like the hex rods on the tail drive gear and housing should slide or be lose. I found on 4 builds these were all tight which prevent a good clamp up of the tail boom and some flyers have blown out the whole tail boom during hard 3d.

Great vid, glad I happened upon it. You look and sound pretty experienced, so I wanted to ask a Q. Have you ever had a problem with with the main shaft & gear set being EXTREMELY tight? When putting the Jesus bolt through the auto gear everything binds up REALLY tight. I've had this kit 95% built for ~4 years, the only problem being the gears almost locked together and the main shaft being far from free turning even with no gear meshing. With the motor engaged when I try to “auto” the head it actually spins the motor. Really not where to start. I just can't imagine the tolerance stack being THAT bad. One-way sleeve cross drilled hole lines up with cross hole in the auto gear, but the main shaft hole is off. Got a pack of main shafts and they are even worse, compressing by hand you can only see ~3/4 of cross hole in the main shaft when ready to put the Jesus bolt. I'm lost here, as I live just down the road from assurance RC and we nearly rebuilt the thing with new parts.
Any suggestions? That goes for anyone with experience building the 450 pro V2, or any kit where you may have run into this problem.

When mounting the main blades to the head of an RC Heli do you tighten the screws so the blades won't budge, or do you leave it loose enough so you can move the blades relative to the head with ease? I saw in one of Freddys other videos that the latter is the case with the tail rotor blades.

Hi, I enjoyed your vid... very informative and great editing.
I wonder if you considered doing a 6s setup? They seem to be getting more popular and there seem to be many benefits... More power, longer flight times and a cooler more efficient system which contributes to longevity, especially with the lipos.
Actually, I did find a vid which claimed to use the stock 450mx motor on 6s. Maybe 6s would only require a new ESC?
Anyway, great vid and thanks for any input you could offer! Cheers!

Hey Freddy, Why do we adjust for a level swash when we know that in hover flight, the tails translational thrust will force the heli bank right. so we would have to constantly correct for this banking during flight if we have a level swash...

i only wonder about the ESC, do you think it will get enough cooling in that position?
sure it's a nice place because it is not seen from outside, but do check the ESC temp after your flights to make sure it is ok.

I know this video is super old. Wish I'd had it back when I built my original 450 pro. I've been out of helis since I built and crashed my 450 pro. It was actually a knock off 450 but I upgraded avery part accept the frame to authentic align parts. My question is is it much easier to fly a modern flybarless system? My heli is stock 450 pro accept a quark gyro. I'm thinking about getting it back out and flying. Toying with the idea of upgrading to flybarless. Although I see you can hardly get 450 pro parts anymore.

Hey Freddy! I've bought my 450 PRO 2 weeks ago and just finished assembling 3 days ago. Very difficult following the manual! You video is really good, with very nice tips! I found really difficult install the 3GX upside down.
QUESTION: when you put servos at 90 degrees, is it the only time you need to do it?
    Thank you very much!
    Cheers!!!
    Leo

This video rocks, thanks so much for all the tips!! What do you think of a traditional receiver and seperate BeastX compared to the Spektrum AR7200BX?
