Very jealous of the Wars of Light and Shadow hard covers! The only hard covers I have found of that series were old library editions that were destroyed and moldy

Ah man, The Faithful and The Fallen, while not my favourite series (it's up there), was probably the most enjoyable reading experience I've ever had. The memories of reading that series over a 2 week period, while being furloughed from work and having to self-isolate during covid lockdown, will always stay with me. I hope you enjoy it and I am looking forward to your thoughts on it if you get around to giving it a go.
I am definitely giving it a go! If not by years end for sure next.

I enjoyed Faithful and the Fallen when I read it a few years ago, and it was pretty cool seeing Giants speak Irish Gaeilge. Not a favourite of mine, but a fun time.
I've only read Broken Empire and Red Queen's War, and I love Lawrence's genreblending in those.
I'm not a Lovecraft guy, but I'm enjoying Jonathan Maberry's Patient Zero.
Oh Patient Zero is creepy, action packed thrill ride of a read. Let me know when you finish Ledger’s first adventure!
You've not read PERN?! One of the foundational dragon & rider series'. Some of the earliest books are a *little* dated, but they're among my most re-read books!
That's an amazing haul, and yes, Janny Wurts is an incredible woman. I don't think there's a topic she lacks some kind of knowledge on. She's an inspiration.

I have recently read In Ascension by Martin MacInnes after Jimmy from the fantasy Nuttwork recommended it...if you are looking for an interstellar-like type of sci Fi book, I highly recommend it

I got some books in May but just a couple. Key was a new leather bound (on sale) of Tale of Two Cities. My key accomplishment was building2 new bookshelves for my living room, which are simple but nice.

Can't wait to start the wars of light and shadow next year with you i was going to jump the gun and start right away after the janny wurts interview but decided that reading it with you would be better, Im getting into the faithful and the fallen this summer so im excited for that. I have come to India for the summer and im hoping to get a big book haul this summer. Also six thousand is crazy not because how big it is but because how small it is you guys deserve way more!!!

First time viewer and you mentioned you dig the "Angels and kind of stuff." I'm reading a series called The Chronicles of the Nephilim by Brian Godawa and I find it fantastic. Quick reads and fast pace. Well written in my opinion.

Congrats on winning the Goodreads contest. You have been blessed. I have just started Robin Crusoe by Daniel Defoe. Interestingly enough my next read after that is The Historian. I got my used copy when attending the Mississippi Book Festival: A Literary Lawn party for the first time in my hometown of Jackson, Mississippi. As a side note, I think we would all be interested in seeing y'all vlog about any trips to local book festivals in North Carolina or elsewhere. I also finished The Blacktongue Thief by Christopher Buehlman and it was hilarious. You should check it out.
I do have Blacktongue on the stack. NC has some gorgeous spots and I just found out I missed a con right up the road where I could’ve met so many writers. I will be there next year for sure. Been thinking about vlogging a read. Gotta pick the right book.
I bought 27 books in the last three weeks!!! - most of them second hand. Including Cloud Atlas. I thought it was a weird and interesting book. I feel it didn’t pay off till the last sentence of the last page. I’m glad I read it. The one I’m most looking forward to reading is Stephen Hawkins’s “Brief Answers to the Big Questions “.
What a great haul! Cloud Atlas is 1 that comes together at the very end for sure. Let me know how Hawkings book is for sure. 27 in 3 weeks that is my kinda 3 weeks😀
I just finished Hawkins’s book. I loved it! I could follow what he was saying but certainly can’t explain it lol! I’m so much more interested in sci fi now!! He is a gift to humanity.

I lost my f-ing mind this month on books. Partially because over the last six months I just clicked preorder on a ton of books that came out recently, and partially a lack of self control LOL. The stand outs that I'm most excited for are: Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir, The Stardust Grail by Yume Kitasei, The Book of the Unnamed Midwife by Meg Elison, The Fall of Language in the Age of English by Minae Mizumura, The Cyber Effect by Mary Aiken PhD, Dark Wire by Joseph Cox, Unquiet Women by Max Adams and Lies and Weddings by Kevin Kwan. I also picked up a ton of art history books, as well as history books about Vietnam, Iraq, Assyria, etc. I can't remember the last time I went this book crazy HAHAHA. Loving your haul and look forward to your reviews!

Great haul! Just so you know, it’s recommended that you read Dragonsong, Dragonsinger, and Dragondrums after reading Dragonquest and before you read The White Dragon.
Also I’m very jealous of your Wurts hardcovers! Just a heads up, there is currently no Stormed Fortress hardcover available in the US. There is a UK hardcover but it’s super small and doesn’t match. Destiny’s Conflict is still available in hardcover but Initiates trial is out of print as a hardcover.

@@Talking_Story Good luck to you! For Wurts’s war of Light and shadow hardcovers, I have only managed to find a hardcover of Traitors knot in the wild, and I found it in a time when the series was just starting to get more attention again.
So the order is for Pern Dragonflight, Dragonquest, the three books in the Harper Hall Trilogy I mentioned, then The White Dragon. I guess The White Dragon is a whole lot suckier if you go from Dragonquest to the White Dragon because the The White Dragon introduces a new character or characters out of the blue. If you read the Harper Hall trilogy before The White Dragon, you’ll get the knowledge about said character or characters to better understand The White Dragon.

All the fiends of hell by Adam Nevill, which is an apocalyptic horror book which looked interesting.
Black Leopard Red Wolf by Marlon James, Jimmy Nutts have talked a bit about this fantasy book in the last month or two. From what he said it at least will be interesting, but weird.
The Conspiracy Against the Human Race by Thomas Ligotti, which is a horror fiction book about the death of meaning or maybe that there is no meaning. Man, these books are a bit too dark, I should buy something a bit more happy/cozy next time 😆
I don’t think Necrotik will fit that feel good list. I added some to my list from that haul. Thanks so much!

The Book That Wouldn't Burn is amazing: a book lover's dream come true. Lots of themes about technology, advancement, and otherness. The Book That Broke The World is also incredible, with plots that reinforce those themes. It breaks your mind, too. You'll 100% love it. Honestly, I'd expect a book of the month out of those two.
Between Two Fires is very good. An excellent depiction of Medieval France, as well as some gruesome, brutal monsters and religious themes. Very good.
I think I'll start on Wars of Light and Shadow in January, too!

The Historian is great fun and easy to read. It's also partially inspired by actual history of Romania during the Fourth Crusade. I hope you love it.

That's an insane stack of books. Amazing! I might have had a small haul myself despite my bookbuying ban that last until september (Look out for a townsquare piece then...if I can figure out the technology that is.). However, it was one comic (The expanse Dragon tooth) and one novella (Warriorborn by Jim Butcher) so that doesn't count right? If I continue like this i might have to remove my bed to fit all the books in. Please send help 🤣
They all count. Maybe you could stack books just right throw a blanket over them and have a book bed.

June is an evolutionary month for me and my library. I pre-ordered the November publication of the new Haruki Murakami novel, purchased the latest S. King collection, as well as a Penguin edition of City of God by St. Augustine. I'm now wrestling with what volumes my library should contain. Lots of things must go as I re-focus on main interests like biography, history, classics, literature and some Sci/Fi/Fantasy/Horror. I've long ago run out of shelf space, but I want quicker access to my preferred reads so cuts will be made. Wish me luck.

Finally, a book on your list I actually read long ago: dragonriders of pern. I don't even have my original copies so I need to get that compilation one. I hope you enjoy them when you do, I remember them being pretty quick reads, easy language. I still remember the first mating flught scene, and I read it like 20+ years ago. If you wait til 2025 for John Gwynne, that would be awesome because I'd totally join the book club for that. I'm waiting for the 3rd book for his new trilogy before I get to that. I don't enjoy starting series unless they're all out, if its a trilogy, I wait til the last one has a release date. Then I avoid getting annoyed with authors, I hold grudges lol. I do prefer trilogies to long haul series because my brain just doesn't hold what it used to. And I'll be finishing expanse 5 today! Which means the novella is next and so far, I haven't really gotten into them like the full lengths, so I really hope this next one doesn't set me back another month again, I'll be very upset. I really want to finish 6 this month and then I'm completely back on schedule, and I'll be taking the last couple books on my trip in August when I visit family, maybe I can lounge in the pool. I don't think I bought books last month because I had already purchased what I'm reading. I did just rebuy book 7 because the size was incorrect and nothing frustrates me more than mismatching. I do recommend The Oath by Frank Peretti, my grandma suggested it a long time ago, it's a standalone, modern times, I've never seen it in a booktuber's shelves. Fyi, we need a shelf tour, or I do anyways, I watch them while I work.
I am working up a shelf tour idea just waiting for a few things to come in. I am adding that 1 you say you don’t see on booktubers shelves to the list. See if I can’t do something about that. Hope

@@Talking_Storymy trip is in a few months so plenty of time. Thank you for adding that book, all I have is me and my grandmother's assessment of it. I only read it once, I'd do a reread if I had time just to see if I change my mind about it, I kindof remember the ending. That's probably over 20 years since I've read it, but I've kept my old copy. It's currently next to my mass market game of thrones books. Until I get my library done in 2026, need to pay off the current loan I took out for renovations, sadly, library didn't make the first cut, half bath, kitchen flooring installed, and basement plumbing were first projects. I'm trying to pay that off as quickly as possible, but sadly it's going to take a bit more, I got it last month of 2022, and I'm trying to make it 3 years instead of the 5 and that's already pushing it.

@@Talking_Storyand no one really warns you about home ownership, at least you had someone else with you, I'm doing it solo. I've aged a lot since I can't take cool trips because I'm constantly putting money into my house, so more reading. Some day, I want to move further south again, but right now, family is close by, and I can somewhat afford this house...barring any emergencies. I can't afford those. And it needs work to be sellable honestly. It's got carpeted in the full bathroom and then pink carpet everywhere else. People before me made interesting choices.

@@Talking_Story I'd say Imago Sequence, it's a short story collection. He has 3 collections and 1 novel all taking place in the same world with his own cosmic horror gods/cults and some of the same characters pop in and out throughout the collections

Yeah, 3 left. Stormed Fortress, Initiate's Trial and Destiny's Conflict.
Gonna be hard to find in matching hardcovers. I think 1 never had a HC release.
@@Talking_Story Correct. For various reasons, Stormed Fortress never got an HC, just a trade paperback. Initiate's Trial and Destiny's Conflict won't be too hard. The hope is that Song's reception with the series being concluded and the audio book releases, etc, will be enough to push and we can get re-releases of the series, etc. A unified set with matching hardcovers would be fantastic!

I'm enjoying my reading experience of Wars of Light & Shadow so far, but I see this being a 2, likely 3 year commitment.

I think it’s a shame Anne McCaffrey isn’t talked about much anymore. She is the Queen of Dragon Rider literature. The new books in the past 5 years are for sure not creating anything new.
I missed so much. But now I have so much awesomeness to catch up on!

Wouldn’t know the vast majority here were sent by authors, publishers and amazingly generous channel supporters. You can bet if I had a lot of dough I would spend a lot on books though.
