It seems that I should have been taking my blood pressure meds after all. Also, I recently got my new specs and I'm on a roll. Loving your journey through ROTE. I know it's a ways off in your journey, but looking forward to when you get to Fool's Errand. It is probably my favorite book in the series and was my book of the year in 2022.
Glad to hear I wasn't the only one having an issue with the historian. It's a really cool premise that was squandered. Still working on fighter pilot by robins old. It's written more like a fiction book. You should give it a try. This week I bought my first book from pango books, a hardcover copy of Hondo by louis lamour. Regardless, I also just bought The American West by Jon Tuska, Greatest hits: Original Stories of assassins, hitmen, and and hired guns by Robert Randisi, City Sleuths and Tough Guys by David McCullough, and The Cuban Affair by Nelson Demille.

I'm in chapter 16 of Royal Assassin. Loving this series! Can't wait to get to Assassin's Quest next month. I'm also 73% through Hills of Heather and Bone. My first dip into Romantasy and I'm loving it. I think you'd dig this book for sure. I did watch the first two episodes of Penguin and it is indeed a great show. Last week was great! Someone reached back out to me that I wasn't expecting to hear from (we'll see how that goes, could be awesome, could be huge?). Had a campout with my kid for Cub Scouts on the 12/13th and going to have another one this weekend. And he's having a blast despite having a broken bone in his arm.
Camp outs and people reaching back out! This sounds all amazing. I look forward to hearing all the awesome news when you can put it out there! You and your son have the greatest of times!
Thank you again for another amazing presentation. I am glad you got time away and I look forward to seeing what you think of Penguin episode 4... It is better then episode 3 actually! Now I had a surprise last night/morning? (It was after 1am so...) On the discord server of yours, someone shared something with me that knocked me out of my seat. I will quote it too. "Your book is on Joan’s Amazon wish list" The quote is by the unnamed out of respect... But I cannot tell you how surprised I was seeing that, and then someone bought the book (same person who was quoted). So last night was crazy. If that was not enough I burned through 'The Other Valley' last night and I am finding a struggle with it. There are no "quotation marks" for when people talk. I came to realize I need to read it twice just to make sure I understood what a character said vs the authors voice. So I am currently and slowly rereading it. Plus... As a bonus. If you have not read the Tattooed Man series? Cronk has a great review on it. I loved the series and it might fulfill that beware of fighting monsters thing. "When you fight monsters, beware you do not become one?" Awesome read... Truly amazing but not dense. Pretty fast paced overall. So cuddle the Pubmaster 3000, find some time to read and watch some TV as you deserve it. Take care, have fun and thanks for always bringing smiles to your community.
@@tallaaron1115 absolutely it is on my wish list. I have plans to get to it! Thanks for that insight into Other Valley I plan on starting soon and that grammar insight will help me know what to expect. Now I am off to add this series you told me about to my wish list as well. Thanks for all!
I had some mid books this week.Playing for Keeps by Alley Ciz is ok and with Red, White and Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston I have problems with the way the main characters are portrayed.
Always my favorite part of the weekend! “He needs to be stretched out because he looks like he was hit with a frying pan” might be the best opening ever! Leaves are in full red and oranges now up here in New England! Jakob reading is phenomenal! I might need to squeeze in a reread of Frankenstein, it’s been almost 15 years since I’ve read it. I started the Dungeon Crawler Carl books this week and omg they’re so worth the hype!
I love Kronk's channel, looking forward to seeing him on here! And I'm sure Robin Hobb is waiting with baited breath for her triple BOTM trophy should she earn it. I've had a bit of a slow month so far, so Frankenstein is my only finished read this week; I'm still working on The Thousand Autumns of Jacob de Zoet and my reread of Our Wives Under the Sea. For the sake of something lighter, I've started Small Gods by Terry Pratchett, and it's really hitting right; his religious satire here is right up there with Voltaire for my money, maybe better if it keeps going the way it is. I'm thinking about getting back into Discworld more afterward, too.
@@Talking_Story I'm going to wait for a while to read the actual book 1; I've read a few of the other possible "book 1s" instead and they're all excellent.
I need motivation to get through “Rhythm of War” Stopped reading it part way through Chapter 19 and have had no desire to go back. So far it has felt like the least binge-worthy book in Stormlight.
Hmmmm……I think we’re going to need to upgrade your spooky reads next year….Duma Key, great for sure…….but, yeah, needs an upgrade. 🙂. Thx for sharing!💚
The second half of Quest does jump the shark but she makes up for it with the first half of Fool’s Errand. So in Fitzworld it is like eating a sandwich with the best french bread in the world with something like Spam or headcheese in between.🥪
Oh, and I'm also about 150 pgs into Assassin's Quest! I just reviewed book 2 on my channel and I'm not sure how I feel about being so close to the end of this trilogy! LOL.
I need to get back to reading Wurts, I'm probably going to restart Wars of Light & Shadow sometime next year. This week I read: *Fantasy* Earthsea 4: Tehanu - My long awaited return to Earthsea and what a fantastic book. This catches us up with Tenar, the protagonist of Tombs of Atuan (Book 2), 25 years later. Love the exploration of trauma, found family and consequences, the effects Ged (the main protagonist) has had on the world especially after Book 3. Apparently, LeGuin had always planned to return to Earthsea, she just wasn't where Tenar is in her own life when she wrote Farthest Shore to write Tehanu. As for what I'm currently reading: *Image Comics* Criminal 2: Lawless Written by Ed Brubaker | Art by Sean Philips For my next read (I'm not quite ready to get back to Hobb or Williams yet) I'm torn between: *Fantasy* Tyrant Philosophers 1: City of Last Chances *Grimdark Fantasy* The Company / K.J Parker *Horror* The Ritual / Adam Neville *Western* All the Pretty Horses / Cormac McCarthy EDIT: Flipped a few coins, its gonna be City of Last Chances and All the Pretty Horses

Aww sorry you didn't love The Historian. It is definitely not a high action plot though the beginning might have implied that. I found the atmosphere of subtle dread was enough to carry it for me and I thought the ending was appropriate for the story that was being told - it circles it right back to how it started in a way.

Gonna be early in the am for you but would live to see you there.
Hobb is the GOAT. Have you read Dresden? I'd hardly call it a vampire story, but they do make appearances from time to time.
I am caught up with Dresden and his brother and all the courts are wonderful!
I had some mid books this week.Playing for Keeps by Alley Ciz is ok and with Red, White and Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston I have problems with the way the main characters are portrayed.

Jakob reading is phenomenal! I might need to squeeze in a reread of Frankenstein, it’s been almost 15 years since I’ve read it.

I have only read
Book 1 of Discworld. I need to get back and keep going till I get the gold I know is there!
@@Talking_Story I'm going to wait for a while to read the actual book 1; I've read a few of the other possible "book 1s" instead and they're all excellent.

I need to get back to reading Wurts, I'm probably going to restart Wars of Light & Shadow sometime next year.
This week I read:
*Fantasy*
Earthsea 4: Tehanu
- My long awaited return to Earthsea and what a fantastic book.
As for what I'm currently reading:
*Image Comics*
Criminal 2: Lawless
Written by Ed Brubaker | Art by Sean Philips
For my next read (I'm not quite ready to get back to Hobb or Williams yet) I'm torn between:
*Fantasy*
Tyrant Philosophers 1: City of Last Chances
*Grimdark Fantasy*
The Company / K.J Parker
*Horror*
The Ritual / Adam Neville
*Western*
All the Pretty Horses / Cormac McCarthy
EDIT: Flipped a few coins, its gonna be City of Last Chances and All the Pretty Horses

Hello!
@@samreads. hello
Aww sorry you didn't love The Historian. It is definitely not a high action plot though the beginning might have implied that. I found the atmosphere of subtle dread was enough to carry it for me and I thought the ending was appropriate for the story that was being told - it circles it right back to how it started in a way. I guess it will stay on my DNR list (do not recommend - you know those books that are so good but you can't recommend to anyone because you don't know anyone with similar taste haha).
@@TheJellicle1 I did love the beginning the end was satisfying. I loved the alternate history aspect. I can’t say it was a miss for me. Also was pretty fond of the multi generational moments. Just had some spots that didn’t entirely click for me. But glad I took the journey!
@@Talking_Story TBH I would love to re-read but I am also afraid it won't hit me the same way now so I think I will just leave it as a great memory
