I would love to see a video about front side pull vs backside push swings. As a youth coach i see many different opinions and approaches to hitting on this topic. And to elaborate on what i mean. Ive seen a lot of teaching towards you drive the front shoulder open and your hands go a long for the ride. Most people who swing like this dont even feel there hands come into play. Then there are the other half who feel a good swing comes from the back side with your top hand punching through, more so than your lead shoulder pulling through. I hope i explained that well enough for you to get an idea of what im asking. As usual great video, and i look forward to checking out the next one
I’m struggling with timing the ball
I am struggling to square the ball up every time I make contact it’s a ground ball
Should my foot be slightly open in my launch position?
Timing up the ball and not pulling my head
Being a new coach just starting to learn baseball I would like to see a series on what to teach kids in Tball.
Teach them what I wish I knew knocking knuckles in line and other fundamentals they teach in the batting videos just make it fun for them to learn
Have them field with stepping right foot left foot field right foot left foot throw
@Baseballbman111 so true
pitch recognition and whether or not I should swing at them
practice, i noticed my batting eye got better when i started umping
@@squaaam2263 I've started umping this year but for some reason it feels different being in the batters box
@@Noah-sx5hc the first thing they told us when we did our level 1 was "call lots of strikes" so for me that meant treat every pitch like 0-2 and it's helped but i cant make good contact
@@squaaam2263 alright thanks I'll keep that in mind
On your list videos, I love it when you write the list in the description. I don't have a lot of free time so sometimes I just read the description instead of watching the video. Please continue to do this! It saves me!👊
My biggest struggle is hitting with 2 strikes. I have a good eye but when I get into a 2 strike count it’s like I cannot tell a strike from a ball and my whole approach goes down the drain.
Have you seen this video yet?

I thought that it was just a me problem
You have to decide what your goal is and make small adjustments accordingly. If you're down a run with a man on second and 2 outs in the 8th, it's an 0-2 count and you naturally have a long swing, you may want to slip farther away from the plate, more toward the outside of the box, so you don't have that trouble hitting an inside pitch. Some players move up slightly in the box, some shorten up their swing. Many options. It's whatever works best for you. Hitting is NOT one size fits all.
Just go monke, think simple
Shorten up your swing. Choke up on the bat. Speeds up your path to the ball and helps u make contact. Also watch the ball as soon as it leaves the pitchers hand. Depending on how it's coming in you should be able to tell whether to swing or not
This channel has really helped me! This fall im trying out to house baseball and this channel is all o have been watching.
Since i've never player baseball and i really want to learn how to hit and pitch, could you guys make a video where you show different pitches from both the hitter and the pitcher point of view?
Great channel btw, love u guys
Thanks for the video Justin! One thing my 12U son struggles with is being "on time" (late swing) to the pitch. It would be great to see a video of tips on how to be "on time" when at the plate.
Nice video coach justin keep it up man
Ive been wating tor a video like this.
Hey there! First and foremost, your videos have been a Godsend for getting me back into playing baseball! I appreciate your enthusiasm and respect for the game.
As far as my inquiry goes, I'd like to know what advice or tips would you give to an adult (late 20s/early 30s) getting back into playing baseball in general and also how to go about keeping playing consistently before father time decides it's no longer a good idea to continue doing so.
Thanks so much and best wishes ahead!
Great help 😎
Hey coach Justin I am huge baseball kid who loves the NY Mets! Baseball is my number 1 goal and I really can't get better without my fielding mechanics. My struggle I have is that everytime I throw to a partner I tend to short arm the ball a lot and I'm not generating more velocity. Please make another video about infield drills and how its done properly!⚾🙏
My son is 3 just starting t-ball and I’ve been teaching him the closed position. Not anything extreme but he’s been hitting so much better than the most common stance
great vid
My biggest Struggle is Outfield Throws. What can i do to get a better arm
Johannes long toss
keep up the content
Thanks John! 👊🏼
i struggle with deciding to hit on a 3-1/3-2 count. Thank you so much for the advice on the tips for outfielders
Good video! Do you have any advise about standing in the back of the batters box vs. standing even with the plate or forward in the box?
Thanks,,,
You should make a video about your opinion on the new popular standing up (Cody bellinger/yelich) type batting stance vs more of a lower position
Since I bust my back last practice, perhaps a video on what muscles to warm up and how to hit them all properly?
Thank so much do you have a video on how to get more speed
Hello Coach, thank you for all your videos. We really have learned a lot from your instruction. I was wondering if you could make a video to help us with the following: My 12 year-old son leads with his elbow when he throws a ball. He leads with his elbow and sort of snaps his elbow forward as he throws the ball. How do we prevent this? What drills can we do to prevent this? And what is the right way of throwing a ball? Please help us. Thank you very much!
Hitting singles and not Producing a lot of power
Okay, thanks! I'll try to make a video on this!
It's not such a bad thing, especially if your average is high. The biggest thing is to create faster hip/trunk rotation so the swing looks more "violent". Watch Griffey Jr and notice how fast he rotates. This however does have it's drawbacks.
I struggle with outside pitches. Could you do a video on how to hit the low and outside fastball?
Elijah Fernandez you should eat low fastballs like dinner
@@isaiahsmith3503 low and outside fbs can be very tough, especially if you're a bit off the plate.
What worked for me was letting it get deeper. Idk but that worked for me
@@heathbudd4365 yeah u gotta let the ball travel and don’t lunge

Anticipating grounders especially when they’re fast please some tips your videos are helpful!
Thanks for the video it’s was very helpful. Do you have tips to stop hitting weak ground balls and fly balls?
Yes! Check this out:
ua-cam.com/video/1mr_LcwzvB4/v-deo.html
Caleb Lee Put your bay down just a bit and don’t swing super hard. Trust me I will still go far.
Thanks
I’m really having a hard time getting my timing in sync with the pitcher’s delivery. Can you help me with a few tips on how to sync up for the best balance when I hit the ball. Thanks for the videos!
Thank u because I’m in baseball:)
Please make a video on tips for a beginner catcher . I would greatly appreciate it
I'm new to playing baseball at 38 years old in the UK but finding these videos handy. I think my biggest issue is my stance at the moment, I feel like I slump over too far. Also my eye for oiling pitches is a bit off at the moment.
Coach my last game I hit 2 homeruns but I just went through my mechanics I didn’t try anything fancy I stayed short and made contact then the ball flew. I watched your videos for bat speed and now I can rake off of anyone
My 15 yrd is timid unconfident from dugout to plate.. Does great at home..
GREAT video thnx!! Im a noob baseball coaching and i was wondering at 3:12 tot 3:14 before you start your stance you tab the mount two times. Could you explaine that?
You do that to find out if your bat can reach over the plate if you swung. To make sure you're not to far back or close
Hey Justin. I was wondering if you can help me with my loading, I can never time the ball quite right and i want to fix that
I really got to find out what the mental game of baseball is, but I still need to work on it a little. Example: when I’m getting squeezed when I’m pitching (how to not get frustrated). And when I’m in a slump.
My former football player 9 year old who wants to get into baseball appreciated this video!
I have trouble on locating offspeed pitches. Fastballs are fine. But with off speed I would throw it inside when the target is outside. Any tips?
I don't know how to play baseball. The last time I played was 13 years old and I usually never get chosen but that day my brother chose me. That was the day I realized I have no idea how to play. Now I'm 37 years old and I work for a company called HEB and they have a softball team I think I will be great at. Just because I can run hella fast for my age. But every thing baseball I have no idea.
You are great at this thanks so much
I just now started to play baseball and I am trying to get a better stance
definitely batting with power and accuracy and also knowing when to swing is my biggest con right now in baseball
My biggest struggle is to hit the ball as far as possible and if u do a video to help me understand and give me tips I would really appreciate it plz and thanks
I’m a natural right handed hitter but i can hit left handed to but currently I’m not hitting the ball at the right side because my elbow is leading my swing when im in the game or in bp but when im at home and I’m swinging on my tee i have a perfect swing now I’m just hitting left because i have more confidence there and i have more contact there but i don’t want to keep switching sides every time im not hitting well on that side
Keeping my eye on the ball
I'm having trouble finding my load and stride rhythm. Idk whether to go short stance long stride . Wide stance short stride. What's your opinion???
My son's biggest struggle right now is throwing accuracy. He plays third base and has a rocket arm, but consistent accuracy is becoming an issue and now I think it's gotten into his head. Not quite Chuck Knoblauch territory but it's getting worse. We have worked on the right/left footwork on the approach and the throw, but I believe his problem is his arm slot which is below 3/4. If his release point is late, his ball pulls to the left of the target. If it's early, it pushes right. He also tries to throw too hard which we are working on as well.
I always feel like I'm not hitting the ball on the barrel of the bat, but i hit the ball where the bat starts to get skinny, like I'm too close. if you could give me some advice on that, that would be awesome. Thanks, coach.
I've been struggling lately with the mechanics of my throw. I've been missing the target lately and I went fr shortstop to second base last season because of it
Similar problem with me
My biggest struggle right now would have to be footwork when turning double plays when I’m at second, at shortstop I’m pretty good at the footwork though.
I'll try to make a video covering this soon!
Yes please. Im a 2nd basemen and my problem is when its a grounder to you and you are turning 2. When its hit right at me and im already in the perfect position to field it i feel like my feet turn to glue and i dont move them
This causes me to make mistakes with my footwork when flipping/tossing
When throwing, throw with your right foot and left foot up. For better footwork
Being herky jerky on the load and stride, Justin, just as you asked for my issue, would appreciate a lot if it got featured.
My biggest struggle is when I make a bad play and I get down on my self. Can you make a video for that
The thing that I’m struggling with the most on the field has got to be contact and kind of guessing where the ball is going to end up in the catching glove
You should do sum base running tips
When loading at what point of time should your front foot land?.. before the pitcher releases the ball or while the ball is on flight?
Izaak Knight depends how fast the pitcher is
I’m struggling to get more velocity when pitching and how to get more torque and generally get more velocity I hope you can help
Foot work on fielding and hitting and like all my movement and stances
I struggle with getting the ball off the ground. Like always grounding out. What drills off the tee could help me
I kinda struggle with throwing but I’m practicing on it
My biggest struggle is how to get of a slump what are the best tips and tricks. ❤
I haven't looked, but you should have a video of breaking in a new glove, and the different types of gloves and why they are used for that. for youth and adult. Keep up the great videos!!
Catcher glove, thicc padding and larger surface area
Infield glove, smaller light weight and sharp outer for getting grounder easier.
Outfield glove, larger, more Lunt edges for stability along with more padding. Generally you can switch an infield and outfield glove, but not a catcher glove. For breaking try ot pull the glove down after catching
I’m confused on what my back foot should do during the swing I keep “squashing the bug” which I know is not a good thing to do and I want to learn what the proper thing to do with my back foot and how to fix it
Thanks
My son just started yiuth baseball for the first time and he has issues pitching, and running hases and proper standing for baseball..what can i do to help him be better?..
I struggle with outside pitches and going into modified I really want to get better at it. I also struggle at ground balls and always miss them. I am a lefty so I really only play first and pitcher but I can field them perfectly on the outfield. I also struggle with hitting with power and it doesn’t help that I’m really skinny. Finally I struggle with throwing with accuracy. Can you please help
It seems when I get ahead in the count I seen to not be able swing the bat I think it is a mental thing
When I’m pitching I use a tire for my target . And I’m pretty accurate on a tire But when it comes to a game I’m all around the zone in and out . How can I be more precise in a live game ?
Can u make a vid on how to get a perfect jump on a ball thx coach
How to improve throwing accuracy for fielders??
Practice. And if it's a longer throw, work on jogging/running up to grab the ball and let the momentum help you. Some OF complain this makes long distance accuracy hard, that's a sign of the throw having a poor release point.
You might not see this but can you do a video of being less anxious in games? Like for example I do great in practice etc, but in game time I suck and I think it has to do with overthinking or anxiousness
Can make a video on the perfect arm angle when pitching or throwing in general
Everyone has a different release point. As long as it works and feels comfortable, I say, use that. For me, I use a position in beetween side arm and up right.
My coaches say that I don’t get a big enough stride when hitting, but when I take a big stride I can barely keep my eyes on the ball, and I’m practically falling off balance. It really holds me back and I’m not hitting well with this HUGE stride
Getting on top of the ball
How to get around the plate faster... I need workouts to improve my rotational strive trying to get around the plate fast
Useing my hips and hitting with my open stance
I am on my moms account but I play center field pretty good just got on to the pg all turny team for batting 600 in that. But I need to keep my head on the ball more during my swing and I can’t keep opening my chest up
I struggle with contact I’m all power hitter and I need to work on contact cause I either blister one or strike ou
Hey I’m struggling with casting the bat. I’m constantly hitting the ball to the right because I’m casting. I just can’t pull the ball and I’ve dropped in the lineup for that.
I’m struggling on making solid contact
Plz answer
Hitting with power and how to gain that power to hit the ball further
One of my struggles is dropping my hands a little and not getting to a consistent launch position
Im struggling at my timing and getting my foot down. I'm in a 6 game hitting slump and trying to improve it.
I would like to improve on fielding a ball
My biggest struggle on the field is throwing the ball to first base I have an strong arm I just need some adjustments on the range and just let my arm loose because I have power I throw hard but that's what I struggle with
Learning to pitch and they go wild some times and hitting not having much power
My son has a good stance and a good swing but he’s striking out a lot. What will help him to see the ball and time his swing better?
His swing and stance could be the problem. Tell him to try and bend more because the strike zone is from the knee to the upper chest. His swing should be like a smile face. You would want to hit the ba a little under the center of gravity for backspin. If he swings in a straight line or down it will be harder to hit because the ball is going down and you would have to hit it perfectly. He should start his swing around the time the pitchers arm passes their belt buckle.
1:05 Mt biggest struggle in baseball is what to do in the outfield
Idk why but when I’m up to bat when the pitcher throws the ball outside and it’s a strike for some reason it looks like it’s way outside but really it’s not
I'm struggling with hitting the most.
Anything in particular? Or just struggling to make consistent contact?
Struggling to make consistent contact
Coach Justin I'm having trouble with hitting and my batting stance
Relax.... It's what most hitters need to understand.. if you're stiff your motion sucks your timing is off... Just make sure your basically limp before the ball is pitched..
The most I am struggling with is hitting contact and when I should time the ball 1:31
I struggle with consistently hitting the ball into the outfield. Im 14 the league in have the same field dimensions of rogers centre
I’m missing the ball barely when I’m missing and pull my head last second what could I do to help
My pitching I don’t take a long enough stride and I yank it sometimes
I’m struggling with back hands and how to scoop it
I need help with arm strength/accuracy
How to take a high and low strike I also can’t get the ball in the air
My biggest struggle is the best stance for catcher and how to hit really hard
You should do perfect fielding stands
I'm not struggling with anything but my family made me watch this
Take a hint....
My biggest struggle currently is only being able to hit the ball too centerfield and over to left field. I never see a ball I hit go to right Field
