  • Lulu with Jeff Beck, Peter King (sax),
    Jon Cleary (piano).
This came from Red White & Blues: www.pbs.org/the...
The live Abbey Road sessions were the best part of the dvd but unfortunately there wasn't enough material included on it and a lot of it was cut.

I love Lulu singing this. Her 75th Birthday today I think. What a legend and Jeff Beck and everyone on here. Sublime

What a gem - and what a jam. Lulu's voice was never in doubt right back to 'Shout' but with these musicians on Scorsese's Blues set. Simply magic.

I might have already posted a comment about this video. But, an update is mandatory.
The song had my rapt attention at the instrumental intro. I hear immaculate jazz guitar, and look for someone who's well-known a master at it.
But, when I focus on the guitarist in the background, I see the late Jeff Beck.
    What? The rock music player?
Oh, heck yeah, I missed that one alright.
After playing his rock and other guitar styles for years, he said jazz guitar--or something more-specifically known as 'jazz fusion'--was a natural next step.
Bravo. Great job. It couldn't have been any better.
Now, as to the lead vocal by Lulu, it would have been a shame to start with a great guitar part like this, thenahave it get a flat tire on the vocal.
    Not to worry.
This is a brilliant performance in every way, exhuding an utterly haunting vocal, with everything packed so tight, you couldn't sneak in a micro-trace of unwanted residue if you sprayed it with a whole can of WD40.
Thank you one and all for your rendition of this song. It's either going to drift me off to a blissful sleep, or have me up all night, wondering what might have happened, if I'd never heard it.
RIP Jeff Beck. I wish I could have had a few guitar lessons from you.

wow, this was a real gem. who would have thought that the gal who made the pop hit "To Sir With Love" could belt out such a soulful jazz rendition of "Cry Me A River?" i love it!!!

Beautiful, I saw this on TV years ago. What a beautiful vibrato she's got in her voice, and a great sax solo too. They also had Tom Jones singing Love Letters Straight From Your Heart, also amazing.

Who Knew ? I just happened up on this--she looks fantastic and her Voice is the perfect blend of strength and weariness this song needs..She's sure not sweet, little Petula Clark thinking her teacher anymore--she's got bigger and better things to sing about now..Thanks for Posting this.I'll be looking for her now..

Holy shit! Where did that come from? I just did a search for John Cleary, who I love. Just done a few gigs with a drummer who played with him in NO years ago when he'd just moved from the UK. They say everyone in the world is just 5 people removed from everyone else. Not that that's relevant... but what a bunch of musicians! Superb, and boy can Lulu sing.

I use Real player to download the videos. You can burn off to audio cd with the freebie version, or if you subscribe you can convert to mp3. I noticed there's an advert on this page now for a converter - probably because of your request. AVS converter.

That's the sort of comment you see scrawled on public lavatories.
Comments have already been passed soiling Lulu's name without enlarging on the circumstances and when she's not here to defend herself. Public defamation often has to do with jealousy and plastering more and more insults of this type all over this section in dirty language makes it all less credible. Enough is enough.

Arrangement very close to the Julie London original; vocal totally different. Lulu has always taken every song and made it her own. She is immensly talented.

Yeah...she sounds good...Lulu is underated...Dusty Springfield (of whom I'm a major fan)was always the most celebrated of the British "soul" singers in the 60s but she didn't have quite as much "grit" as this lady

I agree the American Idol gig was the wrong style. She sang To Sir on PBS Britsh Beat like the original only better. She just keeps getting better. She sings so much better than Simpson & Spears it's not even in the same league. Lulu will you meet me in Palm Springs?
