I hope the theory is right! I hope so much! The game is running, the game is being played, and there ARE improvements in PlanCo with the same engine. Just do it. And first I would update the vanilla animals. New skins for the wolf, lion, etc. The DLC animals look so much better, it CAN'T be a big problem.
Your theory makes sense! Also considering that after the flop of PlanCo2, I believe almost nobody would buy Planet Zoo 2. They would have first to fix PlanCo2 and clear its reputation so that people would trust Frontier again
I think Frontier will continue making DLCs for Zoo, but I don't expect anything big, just keeping adding animals similar to the ones we have with 1 or 2 high requested animals leading each pack. However, if they add the null signs from Planet Coaster 2 and the new foliage (like the desert fan palms) I would be very happy.
With the direction the Sims 4 has gone in, with doubling down on it instead of focusing on a sims 5, I think the same strategy would work even better for Planet Zoo. The solid foundation is already there. I think just implementing the flight and aquatic mechanics would, dare I say, complete the game. Would save them the money of a complete overhaul
IF (and it's a big capslocked IF for a reason) Frontier decided to continue further with PZ development now, I would definitely anticipate and hope for packs that fill in the gaps: - Exhibit-based pack (King Cobra as icon animal, but lots of walkthru & exhibit overhawl animals, and a LOT more color, seriously Frontier, there's so much more color in the world in your choices of exhibit animals!) - N.America & C.America (they're severely underwhelming on the roster in comparison to other continents and their actual representation) - All those animals that are "oddballs" and would include some of the animals that were hugely anticipated for the Zookeeper pack (Echidna would be icon animal, Tree Kangaroo, Secretary Bird, glass frog, etc.) - Adaptation/Survival Pack (introduces camouflaging behavior and focuses on animals that have unique survival adaptations, like the Chameleon, Stick Insect, etc.) - Semi-Aquatic Pack (basically just an animal version of Aquatic Pack, but Walrus, Puffin, & Storks or Pelicans make the list here) - Middle East, Mediterannean, and Himalayan-Mongolia areas are other options, but bottom of the list for me. - so many more could be configured!!! FEATURES I want them to add in THIS game: -more transport rides (specifically a submarine one and a hot air balloon); -The exhibit overhawl previously mentioned; and -Scenario creator & Zoo version of TMTK (but instead of themes it would be animals since we have 1 trillion percent more themes than PC1 had); Fully Aquatic & Aviary I am kindof at a point where I'm just okay for this to not happen in this variation of the game, but I would not buy PZ2 if they aren't at least introduced (similar to Waterparks in PC2). But overall, that's just spitballing ideas, because like I said at the beginning of this post, there's a BIG IF. And I really don't anticipate Planet Zoo being developed longterm, because the exact same was thought by the community with Planet Coaster. It's just not how Frontier rolls, clearly. I'm just blessed we got a game that had so many DLCs to bring variety and life to the game compared to PC1. while PC1 was and is amazing, in comparison to today, well it's humiliating to compare.
I agree, planet zoo is such a good game already. And since a lot of people are invested in the game, it should be a sure bet for them. Imagine if they would put all the hard work it takes to create a new game into making some larger changes to planet zoo, like overhauling the pathing system, adding real flying birds and fully marine animals, maybe introducing better seasons, maybe enhancing graphics etc etc. Regarding a potential planet zoo 2, I would not be too happy to have to buy the packs for the same animals all over again😅
Aviaries and aquariums would take them almost zero effort based on what there is in game already. They have flying animals, they have vivariums, they have (underwater) swimming, they have walkthrough exhibits. Every mechanic to make it happen already exists in the game, the only thing missing are the animals themself and that makes absolutly no sense.
YES! They should release an expansion Pack! Just like in the good old days with Zoo Tycoon - Marine Mania. coming along with a free update for the pathing. And then another Expansion Pack for aviaries. That would also open up new ways for DLCs,..... Who needs Planet Zoo 2? 🙂
Would be awesome if the last DLC (due to feeling so much like a End) would've been the last normal DLC. Then we would get a few big Expansion Packs (Aviaries, Marine Species, Freshwater Species (which would also include some more Waterfowl), Aboreal Animals, Nocturnal House Expansion Pack) before switching over to Planet Zoo 2
Microsoft had / has a cooperation / deal with Microsoft to bring over some of the animals and assets to the new flight simulator. Flying around in the world you can encounter animals well known from Planet Zoo and also plants look very much like Planet Zoo. After a rough start the flight simulator comes on its feet now and allows to enjoy the scenery. I assume some of the new DLCs were reasoned as they were needed by Microsoft to enrich their world. Hope it helps Frontier.
If we do get aquariums and aviaries in planet zoo 2 I think they should be made by placing barriers down and when you add the habitat gate you get a option to change the habitat into a aquarium or aviary when you change it into a aquarium the habitat gate is risen up to the top of the barrier and the staff put on diving gear to clean and manage the habitat while for if you set the habitat to be a aviary the habitat will have a roof over it Also for aviary animals I think they should add a need to have the habitat a certain height and space for flying like a eagle would need it to be high and lost of space while a parrot wouldn’t need much height and wouldn’t really need a lot of space
This is such welcome news.. I'm struggling to enjoy PlanCo2 in its current state. I'm gonna go back to PlanZoo for year and see if PlanCo2 improves.. its got a long way to go IMO.
Whether it's in a new Planet Zoo game or in the original one, I simply want three simple things from Zoo Tycoon 2: - A toggleable grid made out of triangles. - The keeper mode - The parh system Those three simple mechanics still hold Zoo Tycoon 2 up there. And of course, I'd love to also see fully aquatic animals and actual flying birds, but just a simpler way of building, creating and bonding with the zoo would be enough
I would love new DLCs for Planet Zoo! I spent so much money on this game, I wouldn't have bought Planet Zoo 2 anyways....So I wish for fully aquatic animals, a new way to build aquariums and water tanks (maybe also above each other), also flying birds, a lot more animals like small monkeys, walrus and so on...there is so much potential!!!
Also imagine if they would re-launch some existing species, making them up to date to their current standard? I’d love to see the snow leopard, lion, bears and elephants get upgraded! That wouldn’t cost them too much? Maybe even add a few new animations
I wish they would make a Planet Medieval where you build a city/town. I literally have already done a translation of Planet Zoo’s systems and the foundation is 99% of the way there
Yes, I agree planet coaster 2 is definitely a disappointment at this point there is some nice changes but it seems like they just rushed that game or didn’t develop it correctly or something went wrong. Hopefully things get better with PC2. I think planet zoo could definitely use an update with the pathing, and add some kids rides and more interactive things for the people visiting the park to do. Hopefully everything gets worked out and frontier gets back on track to making great playable games. Thanks for sharing. Be safe until next time George.
I completely agree with this as it would make more sense than making a whole other game in a short space of time. If it were to be aviaries I think it would be good to make a walktrhough exhibit with a cage around the walkway to people can’t be in with birds. And the same with aquariums but with glass. This would result in another type of walkthrough (e.g walkthrough exhibit large) or only small fish and birds
If they want PZ to survive into the future they seriously need to step up their game. The last couple of packs were lackluster to say the least and the updates were so-so. Gift shops still do not work properly and the last update was practically not there. Just the anniversary animal (which I don’t count as part of the update) and some new enrichment stuff. A good update would be, for example, fixing up base game animals and/or adding functional playgrounds. Even in the creator space I don’t see as much hype for new dlc animals anymore and I myself have difficulty caring enough to actually play with them currently. Long story short: interest for PZ is waning. If they want to keep the current game going they’ll have to do something major and do it soon before they start losing even their die-hard fans
To be honest, porting a new pathing system will be really disruptive (especially to console players) as die-hard planet zoo players are used to the normal pathing. Don't get me wrong, they could do it, but its weather or not they should.
The only thing I want for the end of pz1 is a treetop pack where all climbing animals will have an arboreal meter and some animals will climb more than others (brings and end to ground dwelling koalas) and with this you could bring in more monkeys and even parrots or flying birds into habitats or walkthroughs! I would love to see giraffe feeding in the last update and I would love to see null exhibits but I think anything more should be saved for the sequel as a massive selling point
I feel like sequels to the Planet games are a hard sell in part because when the originals came out, there hadn't been a great game in their respective genre / theme in a while. Nowadays, you can just play the respective first game and you probably get a more stable game with more content and features. Not to mention other games getting into the genre as well (although Planet is definitely the big fish in that pond) Having to buy a lot of the animals and themes again in Planet Zoo 2 would also be an incredibly hard sell, especially if the game doesn't look / feel that different from the first one. If they are using the same engine, I think going the Total War Warhammer route would be the ideal - if you own DLC for the first game, you also get it for the sequel. That way you basically guarantee invested fans to make the switch, while still getting DLC sales from new players. We see this again and again with open ended games that get a lot of DLC - like the Paradox strategy games or Cities Skylines. The sequels just feel like they lack content even if you ignore potential technical issues. From a developer perspective though, a sequel gives you a bit of a fresh start. There are certain things that are very difficult to add to an existing game (the pathing system might actually be one of them) and there is often a lot of legacy code that messes things up. Sequels are also probably easier to sell to shareholders, usually get a way bigger budget and there is more attention from the media too.
I would love it if they released an update adding the new features from Planet Coaster 2 (path construction, the environment brush, angle snapping relative to the world, and the ability to resize pieces). Planet Zoo would be incredible!
EA recently announced that The Sims 4 is basically it; no more full on sequels. They then brought in a new team to focus solely on bugs and others to go into the game and update it and keep it in a playable state. If Frontier suddenly changed the pathing tools in Zoo 1 that would be the sort of thing EA is now doing with TS4.
I think the next planet game should just combine planet zoo and planet coaster ( Planet Theme Parks ). While this is happening, bring out more planet Zoo and planet coaster 2 dlc's. Give people what they want in planet zoo, more building pieces, aquatic and aviary animals. Also, give some needed features from planet coaster 2 in planet zoo that include island maps and transport vehicles and sit back and profit until Planet Theme Parks is released.
I hope for them that it does, but I am sceptical about whether a planet Zoo 2 would sell just as good if not better than 1. After all the main reason planet Zoo sold so well is because there had been nothing like it for quite some years, Zoo Tycoon 2 was the last option before it, and it was a great game, but by today's standards looked/looks horrendous and outdated, but now that there is planet Zoo, the upgrade would be just like planet coaster 1 and 2, a lot of people will stick around in 1 at least until it's some time in and developed, unless they really manage to make it revolutionary again like the first game was
What would make the game more enjoyable at this point (for me personally) would be adding shorter facility buildings and a much greater variety of plants. I can deal with not getting aquatic animals or customized exhibits in this game but I still get frustrated with the buildings and plants. Frontier could literally sell me a pack of 100+ plants and I would buy it.
Its a huge problem in the gaming industry… AAA games were able to take releasing “rought” but for smaller games like PZ or PC2 its not really helpful, probably more damaging. I hate this trend that people get broken or incomplete product for the full price.
I think they should make a "PLANET MUESUM" and you can choose between like 10 or so different types of museums to create, and they can add more themes for each new DLC they release! What do you think???
I really hope they’ll add a couple things from zoo tycoon that I loved and really miss: Sky buckets/alternate mode of transportation for a large zoo. And safari jeeps or something like that. I also want true aquarium animals and such to build an epic aquarium. Birds. Lots of birds for an aviary.
The free update for the 5th anniversary was dry as hell, that looked like an obvious ending to the game. After the Planet Coaster 2 disaster, it's the first time in years I see them having a reason to continue support, but they will need to either borrow stuff from the new game or create new features from scratch. If the topic at hand was which potential ones they'd take away from the hypothetic Planet Zoo 2 to give life back to Planet Zoo, realistically it would be the improved pathing while the least possible ones are scenary scaling and better exhibits, as I see those as more prominent selling points for a new game and also needing more amount of work. Then in the middle ground there is flying birds and aquatic animals being added as walkthrough exhibit species with static animations, and only in a sequel they would truly move freely.
With all the work I've done on planet zoo, I don't want just abandoned it all to play a new game. Or be forced to choose which one to play for different aspects and different animals each one would have. I'd rather them just progress the current game.
I think the rapid fire catch up game they are playing with console version tells me they are going to be pumping out more brand new dlc for PZ in the future that come out on pc and console either at the same time or very close together. I don’t know if you pay attention to EA and the sims, but they recently announced the sims 5 won’t be coming out anytime soon and instead more dlc and updates are planned for sims 4 (unaffectionately now termed ‘Sims4Ever’). The game is known for performance issues, yet is a money maker apparently EA isn’t ready to abandon just yet. I think you are right about PC2 not smoothly sailing with launch and possibly worrying the team enough to want to keep invested in the for sure money-maker PZ. Both Sims 4 & Cities Skylines have introduced modder-produced dlc. I wonder if Frontier will look at this as an option. Personally, I would love to see an aquatic birds animal pack, an aviary scenery pack, perhaps a few more regional packs as well focusing on semi-aquatic animals. There’s also a possibility that years down the road once it’s clear we won’t get another pack at all, we could still continue to get anniversary animals added to the game. Skyrim is, what, 34 years old and keeps getting updated for crying out loud? Jk, 2011 I think is when that game came out lol. The lifespan of a single video game is hard to predict and is, I think, extended thanks to the love and loyalty of its fanbase. So with any luck, we’ll all keep PZ alive for awhile yet. Let Frontier do all its experimenting on PC2 and give us the Zoo Crafting Mega Game of the Century a few years from now, maybe 2028? ;) Whenever it is made, it will be a phenomenal game. They are/will build it keeping in mind all the things added later on to PZ and all the things they couldn’t add due to the game’s core structure. Just as PC saw a genre mix with water parks, we could see something like the ability to not just build a zoo but a functional nature preserve or something like that. Maybe a regional wildlife sanctuary or rehabilitation center for wounded animals added to our zoo. ZT2 had conservation zones in one of its expansion packs. I think there is potential to add more aquatic and aviary features to PZ1 and to get something even more fundamentally a new and improved game in the second go round.
I love how ya went Planet Zoo 2 at 3:49 a little mind melt with Zoo Tycoon 2 of which Planet Zoo to me at least is the spiritual successor of. XD keep up the great vids brother.
I think a few Expansion pack DLC's would be welcomed. I like taking the animals and building open range habitats. I only wish all species could have multiple herds or packs to establish populations without having to release them because they'll inbreed. That's what I miss from Zoo Tycoon 2, maybe they could add conversation zone maps so you can have 4 male elephants with 20 females elephants, they will only fight for territory and mates.
The idea of creating an expansion vs a DLC to essentially upgrade to PZ2 without having to 'start fresh' with a brand new game would be the best way to go in my opinion. My absolute fear with a PZ2 is that we'd go back to square 1.5 with a reduced roster, build piece themes, functionality etc just like we've seen with PC2, and it would feel lacking in so many ways until we've paid for multiple rounds of PZ2 DLC. I don't think that's something the community would get onboard with in the light of PC2's reception. If there's a way to bring the upgrades in the back-end into Planet Zoo via a large expansion type drop that would give us the upgrades to the existing content and set us up for a long, long future of developments, that would be perfect. I don't even know if that's possible, but if it is it'd be the best thing for this franchise.
I'd pay Frontier serious money (say, 30€ range) for a major update of Planet Zoo, like something for the engine or a revamped path system. We still need better exhibit mechanics, birds would be amazing. There is still lots of life in PZ, I think, Frontier just needs to be brave enough to do it
The Sims 4 is currently doing this and people are relatively disappointed with that choice, however I think Planet Zoo would work well with this concept! I think larger DLCs and free updates with upgrades would ve popular
If frontier does plan on continuing planet zoo 1 development at least until their games create a stable profit for them then I hope in future updates they’ll update some of the current game models like the lion for obvious reasons, the jaguar and both tigers cause imo they look more chunky than muscular, the American bison cause it’s so small compared to the wisent, and the koala, not cause its model is bad but cause it doesn’t climb enough
If they should add something from PC2 to PZ, i would suggest the pathing system AND the scaling system for scenery. would making some builds way more easier and more realistic, instead of fiddling with small items and repeating them all over you could just pick the larger object and scale it slightly down. that would be a QOL update, without hurting a PZ2 too much. However i think aviary/aquatic is a bit of a too big change for PZ (i would love it) but i think that's great marketing tools for PZ2. Unless a tool for custom creating terraria for your reptiles will be a thing for PZ2.
What would be fantastic would be an update to some of the older animal models/skins the same way that Jurassic World Evo2 includes new skins for the dinosaurs that sometimes shows off more scientifically accurate depictions of the dinos. I was expecting that for the sequel, but I would love to get that early. I fully expect aviaries or aquariums to be something they would have to wait to release in Planet Zoo 2, but there are various quick fixes they could do in the current game that they could pull from what IS working in Planet Coaster 2 that would be awesome. Most zoos have a carousel, we could easily get a few smaller rides from Planet Coaster added to the game. I was really worried when I saw how bad Planet Coaster 2 was doing but I know there isn't as much overlap between Zoo players as the company would maybe expect. I like building zoos, I like animals, so for me Planet Zoo and Jurassic World Evo2 are fantastic. I was slightly interested in Planet Coaster 2 but when my favorite creators couldn't recommend it in its current state I backed away. We know they are going to put out Evo3, and that would surely be a big release because of the new movie tie-in (I'll be pre-ordering no matter what) and I am thinking that's the game that might keep them from moving forward with Planet Zoo 2. If THAT game bombed, that would be a bigger warning sign. Planet Zoo putting out more builders DLC and scenery packs would be great. Fixing the souvenir shops would be epic lol. I'm not too worried about the future of Planet Zoo because Jurassic World Evo3 is going to be a big seller.
The one and only reason I want a Planet Zoo 2 instead of more DLCs and expansions for this one is the Memory Management of this game. Apart from aquarium and aviary what I desperately want is a game that can handle bigger zoos with ease... say zoos with over 700 animals and 70 habitats should not be a problem ..this gave is bad at handling bigger zoos and I dont think that any DLC or patch is going to solve that. Also when you have too many modded animals the whole Releasing animals into habitat cycle becomes bugged. -- I want a planet zoo 2, a game with amazing memory management and all the animals from planet zoo at launch - and ofcourse remasters of some older animals which look backdated now.
I hope that they would be keep adding on planet zoo. Just like there are doing on the sims 4. There is also no sims 5, therefore they are making more packs for sims 4. So I hope frontier will do the same thing with planet zoo! I hope there are bringing flying birds or aquatic animals in the game!!
Planet Zoo is so good that I don’t know if I want them to make a second game. I’d be willing to pay the price of a new game for expansion packs for planet zoo 1. Say flying birds was an expansion pack and we got a huge amount of new birds and items to go with it as well as pathing. I would pay the price of a new game for that expansion. And then they could do DLCs for that expansion pack. Same thing for aquariums
I would pay full game price for a PZ expantion like what you theorized... but I really don't know, seeing how game development is being done lately. But one can certainly hope!
If Frontier gives us more DLCs and expansion packs for PZ, I would assume that'd be in place of a sequel. My big concern is that based on the mixed reception of planet coaster 2, they'll scrap the idea of PZ2 or be unable to make the game because of poor revenue.
With their back to the wall, is how you say that, if you wanted to know. :) Who knows? I hope they at least keep adding animals. PZ team, if you're reading this, PLEASE give me more SCENARIOS!!
Personally, I loved rollercoaster tycoon 3 and still play it and found planet coaster particularly bad, because I just found it wayyy too difficult to make roller coaster... whereas its realtively simple to make a zoo enclosure and make it look pretty. They've taken the fun out of the game imo just by making it too complex. Which is also kinda why I've pulled away a bit from planet zoo. One thing that would bring me back to planet zoo would be a prehistoric animals pack (Im talking sabre toothed tigers, thylacines, mammoths - not necessarily dinosaurs - some sort of mini game too like zoo tycoon 2 had to genetically play with the animals) or a marine pack (and I would want the option to put on marine shows idc if it goes against the ethos. It's a game and zoo tycoon 2 inspired me to do the career I'm in and it also had marine shows). I love the game, but its gotten repetitive and I've now not played it in years.
I will say this, if the next DLC does not include more birds (flying or otherwise) then it is a near guarantee that a successor game is in the works and they are just trying to build up capital to fund the production of said successor. As a console player, I am hoping that a successor is still far away. I would like enough time between the console launch of all outstanding PC DLCs and the launch of a successor to enjoy all of the PC DLCs and that not too much time is spent playing catch up..
I would prefer them to work on pz, adding aviaries and aquariums, bringing new experiences with updates and dlcs. I don’t really want a new game when they can still do so much with pz.
PlanCo2 lags content compared to PlanCo1. If you make a sequel to a game then you need at least bring over all previous content. It's weird you would need to buy all dlcs again or that they wouldnt introduce the classic themes like fantasy and spooky at all. If they want to sell a PlanZoo 2 then they would absolutely need to assure people that they don't need to buy all previous animals and themese again. In addition they should update the existing themes. A new feature like aquariums and aviaries is not enough simply because PlanZoo2 would still be 80% PlanZoo was. So what they could do is overhaul the current game or do a rerelease and sell aquariums and aviary dlcs for 20€ each which would combined be the same amount of profit theyd make from a PlanZoo2. I mean personally I wouldnt buy PlanZoo2 immediately. I would wait a couple of dlcs and updates to see how much new animals and scenery pieces they introduce that would pull me away from PlanZoo1. Im currently doing the same with PlanCo2.
Funny you say that. I actually don't think this is the issue. Let's be real, where would be the ingenuity of putting everything the same in? Content wise I am super happy with planco 2. Almost all rides, great basic themes and loads of stuff. My personal view is, that the new stuff doesn't work well enough (flumes without physics, weather no impact and visually underwhelming) plus potentially highlights like special track pieces limited to one coaster almost. That's my view for zoo 2 as well. I'd be happy with say 60-70% of the animals but with a much better locomotion, full aquatics and birds. But that's just my opinion
based on the money earned, interested garnered & priorities set, it does not shock me if they announce Planet Zoo 2 in a couple years with marine animals & aviaries as headline features (similar to waterparks for PC2)
I think PZ2 will come and I'm personally not fully on board for it. PZ is good as it is(Not perfect) and like you said, if they just do a huge update and overhaul to the game, it would be way better. Add in flying bird, underwater fishes and marine mammals and you'd have gold. The most important thing to do for Frontier, which they probably won't do, is just listen to the fans! They play the game, they have the knowledge, if you want money? Listen to them, it's that simple xD And I hope they learn from PC2 and won't do the same for PZ2.
For me, the difference between PC1 and PC2 is not significant enough. So I prefer to replay PC1 until PC2 is on sale. And I can see from the let's plays that what bothered me in PC1 and PZ is still in PC2. The creation tools are too complex and Frontier leaves players to struggle without providing them with the tools that would make the game much easier. In Planet Zoo, for example, I don't understand why they didn't create tools to automate fences, rock walls, underwater viewing, plantations... and how they can ignore path and terrain bugs. I'm in love with these games. But I have more fun watching trailers and youtubers than actually playing. More needs to be done for the average gamer and younger players. I'd heard that Sims 4 would continue to be developed, rather than starting from scratch with a 5th opus. I find this strategy more respectful of players who have already spent a lot of money and time. I can't see myself buying DLC with the same animals as PZ1 if PZ2 was to be more or less the same game. I'd be much more excited by a revival of PZ1, while keeping all the current content.
TBF speaking of EA and more respectful in one sentence is something I will not see that often :D. EA has failed on so many levels. Sims 4 is a money printing machine. The game is vastly broken. And people have spent 8 times the amount you'd spend on zoo including all dlcs. It's really not a great comparison. EA doesn't have the issue of making money. Frontier has. That alone will force a sequel at some point. But I totally get where you're coming from. I personally think the planet brand must evolve
It would be nice if they incorporated the new path/walkway making system like in PlanetCo2. I hate the way its so hard to make certain shapes needed. Otherwise, ya I’ve put a lot of money in planet zoo it would take something special for me to by a 2.
I suspected they would keep an eye on how many active players they still have and, given the numbers are good enough for them, give them some easy to do DLCs (like reskins). because why not make some easy money there, right?
I was really hoping Planet coaster 2 would be a success, since I love Planet Zoo and want Frontier to succeed. However, I didn’t have much hope for Planet coaster 2, just as I dont for Jurassic World 3. If I’m being honest, I love Planet Zoo-I play it a lot and enjoy watching content creators-but I’m not sure I’d buy Planet Zoo 2. Why would I? I’m not going to buy a new game just for birds or a few fish. I’m sorry; I know a lot of people want them, but I’m not paying for a new game for them. They might be favorites for many people bur for others they are the least relevant animals but I’d love to see birds or fish added through one or two DLCs instead. Also, a lot of people play Planet Zoo for the simple fact that it has animals-cute animals. So, would I really buy a game that includes only 70% of the animals I already have in the current game? Am I going to pay for a new game and then wait for years of DLC to rebuild the roster I already own? Probably not. So i really hope you are right because im going to keep buying planet zoo dlcs and i really dont mind to pay some extra for a higher quality content. frontier needs planet zoo to keep itself alive so i think its the smart call to reinvest on the game if they gamble again and leave it all for pz2 in the near future i think they will be doomed
I think frontier can go take the paradox approach I think that is clear that frontier relies on niche loyal player base without having to make planet zoo 2 that fast. Let’s be honest no working person with a social life finishes a zoo in a year or even two. They should just make dlc for several years and work in other franchises that can benefit from that approach that means they won’t even have to reinvent the wheel every 4 years in the same franchise. They could do planet village or planet city, I look at prehistoric kingdom they’ve been taking things slow and it’s been working for them.
Look at EU4 it has gotten to the point that players prefer to buy a pricier dlc than EU5. I think planet zoo has even a stronger chance to do this and paradox games that could enjoy that formula too.
literally all I want is for them to update the paths, it makes the whole game so frustrating, everything else is perfect and they got that so right in planet coaster its so fustrating
Well :D if they want to make the best dlc seller ever…. :D aviaries and marine animals. Thats it, everyone would buy it and old players would come back :D
Salut Rudi. My feeling is very mixed about Planet Coaster 2. The game is too complicated, both for management and for creativity. Even if there are great possibilities, while playing, I feel like I'm working, having to look for solutions. Brief! I hope that if there is a Planet Zoo 2, the designers and developers will not change anything in the fundamentals and will bring additional and easy-to-use tools for terraforming and creating paths. Having aviary and seabed animal varieties would be something very appealing. In the meantime, maybe they should satisfy the simple requests of the community, such as providing some basic items or even a wider variety of plants. 😑
We dont need a PZ2 another zoo game where they could have just added this stuff to the 1st? everyone wnats aquariums and aviaries. for the birds we stuff like bats and butterfies so just make one a bird. and for aquaruims we have stuff like penguins. they already have done a overhall of the game in deep diving that wasnt a thing it was added later in a update now many species have deep diving which was a brand new thing. so they could do it if they wanted to instead of being the same game again and reselling pz1 dlc for pz2
A bunch of Karens. Meanwhile Iam absolutely loving it. Coming from planco 1 so glad I made the switch to 2 and no regrets path systems way better, graphics, physics, scenery, 1st person water parks this game had a way better release then flight sim 2024 for the complexity of the code in planco 2 Iam pretty impressed. Why dont they just combine the two games. Either as one game or DLC to Planco you can add a zoo and animals to your park.
Pulling an EA-move, selling "DLC" with little content for 10 bucks and then wondering why you have no money, well. I would love to love planet Zoo and I played it a lot, but they lost me for the same reason EA lost me playing Sims. I want more than a few items if I decide to give my money to a company. And I want a game that I can play and desgin without bugs and tricky worarounds to create what I want. Right now, I wouldn´t buy he second installment of the Plante Zoo franchise as the company, at least for me, showed that they want my money above all else. I mean, I played Zoo Tyconn and still thing this old and outdated games are in most parts better than Planet Zoo.
So Rudi, what your saying with you speculation, is that were either gonna get a sequel planet zoo 2 in the future still? Or theyre not gonna stop making dlc’s for the game? I wanna understand what you fully mean Id love for planet zoo to keep going of course ^^ with whichever way they go ^^
Initially I thought they focus on 2 now fully and no more DLCs. Now I think they will potentially drag a couple of things that are planned for 2 into the first game. Things that won't hurt the USP of 2 obviously. But will keep selling 1
So does that mean there is gonna be a second game or no? And how long do you think they’ll keep going with making more dlc’s if there is a second game or not?
I'll be honest here, I don't even really see the sense in making Planet Zoo 2. It's a beautiful game. Yes, there could be more in terms of aquatic and aviary animals, but if I were presented with the choice to buy PZ2 right now, I wouldn't, because I already have PZ1 that's beautiful, that I love, and that I already have invested quite a bit in in terms of money. Why should I start from scratch with something that would probably only be slightly different but does not offer me the same variety of animals etc that I have right now? Doesn't really make sense to me.
I hope the theory is right! I hope so much! The game is running, the game is being played, and there ARE improvements in PlanCo with the same engine. Just do it. And first I would update the vanilla animals. New skins for the wolf, lion, etc. The DLC animals look so much better, it CAN'T be a big problem.
yes yes please give me new skins for the wolf and lion and take my money
Haha du immer mit deinem Löwen- und Wolfbashing😂😂
@@PierreStifler 😇
Your theory makes sense! Also considering that after the flop of PlanCo2, I believe almost nobody would buy Planet Zoo 2. They would have first to fix PlanCo2 and clear its reputation so that people would trust Frontier again
very valid argument. they have to restore trust first of all!
Planco 2 isnt a flop though
So you guys think theyre just gonna keep making dlc’s for the original planet zoo game and such instead of creating a sequel?
@@forzaguy1252 it isn’t a flop, it flopped, that’s what I meant 😅
Planco 2 didn't flop planet zoo released in a bad state, too. Frontier always does this, and people just wait for patches.
I think Frontier will continue making DLCs for Zoo, but I don't expect anything big, just keeping adding animals similar to the ones we have with 1 or 2 high requested animals leading each pack.
However, if they add the null signs from Planet Coaster 2 and the new foliage (like the desert fan palms) I would be very happy.
u mean what theyve been doing ever since the aqua edition? Every dlc is the same animations with lsight touchups and recolors
IF (and it's a big capslocked IF for a reason) Frontier decided to continue further with PZ development now, I would definitely anticipate and hope for packs that fill in the gaps:
- Exhibit-based pack (King Cobra as icon animal, but lots of walkthru & exhibit overhawl animals, and a LOT more color, seriously Frontier, there's so much more color in the world in your choices of exhibit animals!)
- N.America & C.America (they're severely underwhelming on the roster in comparison to other continents and their actual representation)
- All those animals that are "oddballs" and would include some of the animals that were hugely anticipated for the Zookeeper pack (Echidna would be icon animal, Tree Kangaroo, Secretary Bird, glass frog, etc.)
- Adaptation/Survival Pack (introduces camouflaging behavior and focuses on animals that have unique survival adaptations, like the Chameleon, Stick Insect, etc.)
- Semi-Aquatic Pack (basically just an animal version of Aquatic Pack, but Walrus, Puffin, & Storks or Pelicans make the list here)
- Middle East, Mediterannean, and Himalayan-Mongolia areas are other options, but bottom of the list for me.
- so many more could be configured!!!
FEATURES I want them to add in THIS game:
-more transport rides (specifically a submarine one and a hot air balloon);
-The exhibit overhawl previously mentioned; and
-Scenario creator & Zoo version of TMTK (but instead of themes it would be animals since we have 1 trillion percent more themes than PC1 had);
Fully Aquatic & Aviary I am kindof at a point where I'm just okay for this to not happen in this variation of the game, but I would not buy PZ2 if they aren't at least introduced (similar to Waterparks in PC2).
I could totally see PZ being a timeless game that keeps getting updates providing once a year we get an update that totally changes the game.
Hope it helps Frontier.
yeha could be....IF MSFS24 wouldn´t have server issues all the time, i would go and search them
fully aquatic animals would be great!!!!!!! fully customizable exibits would also be a game changer
If we do get aquariums and aviaries in planet zoo 2 I think they should be made by placing barriers down and when you add the habitat gate you get a option to change the habitat into a aquarium or aviary when you change it into a aquarium the habitat gate is risen up to the top of the barrier and the staff put on diving gear to clean and manage the habitat while for if you set the habitat to be a aviary the habitat will have a roof over it
Also for aviary animals I think they should add a need to have the habitat a certain height and space for flying like a eagle would need it to be high and lost of space while a parrot wouldn’t need much height and wouldn’t really need a lot of space
This is such welcome news.. I'm struggling to enjoy PlanCo2 in its current state.
I'm gonna go back to PlanZoo for year and see if PlanCo2 improves.. its got a long way to go IMO.
Just as planet zoo at the beginning 😅
Whether it's in a new Planet Zoo game or in the original one, I simply want three simple things from Zoo Tycoon 2:
- A toggleable grid made out of triangles.
- The keeper mode
- The parh system
Those three simple mechanics still hold Zoo Tycoon 2 up there.
I'm actually having a lot of fun playing PlanCo2, it's a shame that the game isn't performing well
well, for me it works great. I think the game has some issuses with some spcial kind of hardware... :/
Its selling just fine
PlanCo 2 is great. It has some kinks to work out but what game doesn't on release? Players are being very dramatic and entitled about it.
We dont need any more Jurassic World games either thanks. Planet Zoo and fixing Planet Coaster is what the people want!
Not to mention other games getting into the genre as well (although Planet is definitely the big fish in that pond)
Having to buy a lot of the animals and themes again in Planet Zoo 2 would also be an incredibly hard sell, especially if the game doesn't look / feel that different from the first one.
Well I still think EA did a miserable call there but from the core of what you said: yss
I'm enjoying PC2 A LOT, the game is great but it's just a bit rough around the edges. I'm certain the game will be amazing in a month or two.
Not wise when we are getting Two Point Museum.
I really hope they’ll add a couple things from zoo tycoon that I loved and really miss:
Sky buckets/alternate mode of transportation for a large zoo.
Let Frontier do all its experimenting on PC2 and give us the Zoo Crafting Mega Game of the Century a few years from now, maybe 2028? ;)
Whenever it is made, it will be a phenomenal game.
XD keep up the great vids brother.
i spent way too much money on the DLCs for me to buy the second version
A Rudi planet zoo video! Woohoo!
yes and soon more :)
If frontier is smart they better put more developers in planet zoo
i really hope planet coaster gets so much dlc
Cute animals always trump coasters
Before we get new animals I think there are some that definitely need updating (lions and timber wolves imo)
Ive just bought planet zoo, so I hope the game continues to develop 😂
I'm not too worried about the future of Planet Zoo because Jurassic World Evo3 is going to be a big seller.
i would love for more different ways to feed animals
I get so fed up of the troughs and food trays
Honestly if they just Carry on updating the planet zoo now with gameplay and new animals and remasters that would be fine by me
The one and only reason I want a Planet Zoo 2 instead of more DLCs and expansions for this one is the Memory Management of this game.
"Have your back to the wall" is an English saying, too!
Id be happy to have Zoo Tycoon 2 in the Planet Zoo coat :D
I hope your speculations come to fruition :)
Accurate cheetah Cubs, and a better aging system. Those are my majors but I want a better building system and more animal varieties.
For the algorithm
I really hope for a coati 😊
I want the increased amount of planet coaster 2 terrain options in PZ.
based on the money earned, interested garnered & priorities set, it does not shock me if they announce Planet Zoo 2 in a couple years with marine animals & aviaries as headline features (similar to waterparks for PC2)
I’m stil missing the animals that lived in the past like a mamo, saberthoot, and the dinosaur packs. 😢
Honestly don't want it, save that for Jurrasic Evolution.
I suspected they would keep an eye on how many active players they still have and, given the numbers are good enough for them, give them some easy to do DLCs (like reskins). because why not make some easy money there, right?
I knew Planet Zoo 2 didn't make sense.
That's not what I said :P
Roses are red, violets are blue….
WE NEED AYE AYES IN PLANET ZOO
Raise build limit for consoles for God's sake
literally all I want is for them to update the paths, it makes the whole game so frustrating, everything else is perfect and they got that so right in planet coaster its so fustrating
Am I the only one that hopes the cannibalize planet coaster and bring some assets (like ferris wheel) to planet zoo
just give me planet zoo 2, we need aquariums and aviary
I would imagine PZ2 releases a year or 2 after PZ1 stops getting DLC or updates
sea turtles would be peak
i really want the old ugly animals redone
I'm not sure I've seen a video where Rudi doesn't apologise for his voice 😅😅
Some day! But I'm either sick or allergy hahahaha
I wanna understand what you fully mean
Id love for planet zoo to keep going of course ^^ with whichever way they go ^^
Initially I thought they focus on 2 now fully and no more DLCs.
Anybody else wondering if there remastering thrillville off the rails
Kinda wish for something like Planet Aquarium. I love sealife and im quite sad that Planet zoo dont have much of it
Haven't played Planet Coaster 2 yet, what's so bad about it?
What is the probability of pz2?
I'll be honest here, I don't even really see the sense in making Planet Zoo 2. It's a beautiful game. Yes, there could be more in terms of aquatic and aviary animals, but if I were presented with the choice to buy PZ2 right now, I wouldn't, because I already have PZ1 that's beautiful, that I love, and that I already have invested quite a bit in in terms of money. Why should I start from scratch with something that would probably only be slightly different but does not offer me the same variety of animals etc that I have right now? Doesn't really make sense to me.
