Unleashed Redux for Sonic Generations hasn't seen an update in 3 years. It's been a long awaited update. People eventually gave up on the project, as did the developer, me. 2023 arrives and development picks back up, thanks to the efforts of @StarlightDX and @TheKoldK1. Insane technical work + development on The Complete Addon made it easy to develop for Redux, as things I couldn't do were done. 4th July 2024 sees the rebirth of Redux, with a banger update that works without the Addon and is even better with it enabled. Redux Sonic v6 also got a release too, bringing support for the Generations skeleton & a few more goodies.

I'm really new to modding and this is kind of frustrating I've downloaded every file I did everything right and for some reason it's not really working properly. After I complete the first stage it crashes. And it doesn't look anything like yours. May you please do a tutorial video just real quick. Because I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong and you are the Creator. Plz and thank you

So basically the hedgehog engine 1 is a hidden gem cause of how much work that was put into the lighting systems from back then?
Yeah, mostly due to it needing to be heavily optimized for running somewhat smoothly on the PS3 and Xbox 350.
That and the art direction back then was top notch
That Sonic model is insane, a combination between Adventure and Modern Sonic
God, Sonic Team is completely delusional for sticking with Hedgehog Engine 2, man. This is incredible, phenomenal work 🔥 💙

Boy this mod looks amazing! The GI changes might not be so obvious for the untrained eye, but boy this looks refreshing! Had some stutters here and there but it's probably my PC not being able to handle those graphics. The only "major" issue I had was the not so full compatibility with the UP: Complete Addon, as some changes from that mod does apply, however, most of them simply don't. Apart from that, I had a flawless experience with this mod.
Thank you for all the work you do. This mod makes me want to revisit Generations again, my childhood has been revived!
Wow man, your team put a really hard work on this one. I remember back in the day, playing the V1 was crazy, with all the visuals, environment and Marza Sonic being that impressive. And now this one is blowing our minds out of this reality. It Looks like an awesomet remake of Sonic Unleashed for this current time, really impressive how the Hedgehog Engine 1 can still be used for creations like this. :D

It's crazy how Sega doesn't go back to Hedgehog Engine 1 cause they're so dead set on thinking Engine 2 has better graphics and more potential but I just look at this and wonder why they haven't come back to Engine 1? Not only are the physics better but they could just make beautiful stuff like this regardless of it being a 32 bit Engine

To be fair, aparently the Hedgehog Engine 1 doesn't seem to work in current gen hardware, so much that Sonic Generations isn't present on the PS4 and PS5. Not only the Hedgehog Engine 2 has better graphics, but it also has better compatibility with current gen hardware due to a newer architecture. However, same can't be said about Havok (basically the main engine that SU and SG used), probably it's SEGA not wanting to pay anything to them.
The physics aren't a Hedgehog Engine thing, and graphically HE2 is superior. The reason why Retail Unleashed holds up today is due to the art direction.
The physics don't have anything to do with the engine. It's a graphical engine
if i remember correctly the reason they don't go back to the first hedgehog engine is because they don't have the code for it anymore
I'm still in awe at how beautiful Unleashed is yet the games afterwards seemed to keep going downhill in visuals, hitting rock bottom in Frontiers (that game looks uuuugly to me)
Speaking of visuals though, MAN that new model in this mod looks good. You're making Unleashed look even better than it already does

System requirements for Redux are a little higher, due to the higher quality GI.
I know that this is very subjective... but I don't really like the model, it looks ok from the side and the quills are nice but from the front... yeah it's not for me
everything else is goated tho, nice remaster, I love some of the changes you added to the levels :)

That looks weird, as well with the Classic Sonic model mod, looks terrible
The models used after 06 lack that attitude Sonic characters had + threw out everything that made a Sonic character look really nice, such as the eye & muzzle curve and more prominent eyebrows which were a thing since 1991 and the early 2000s.
This model in particular is a combination of the Adventure artwork and what Marza designed. If you play with the Gens model enabled and load up the White World cutscenes, you’ll notice Sonic looks a lot more expressive. Model edits go a long way to selling a character!
It’s a totally subjective thing. You don’t have to like it, and you don’t have to be rude about it.
