The book is actually a novelization of the movie in this case. The movie script was actually written first.

Just stumbled on your channel. Love your passion for the horror film genre. Just want to throw out there that i believe the book was written AFTER the movie. Screenplay came first....if my memory serves correct. This movie is underated. Kind of suffered from the still lingering of buzz of exorcist that was still playing only about a year or so previous.

I'm starting reading The Omen. I purchased it online and i must say I agreed on one aspect and one aspect only - books are better than film. Its got in-depth and deep story never seen on the screen and I wont be disappointed when I'm finished reading. I have the entire Omen collection consisted of 1976 film, Omen II, The Final Conflict, the Awakening (awful), the 2006 remake and the 2016 tv series Damien. I like your take and insight about the Omen. Its up there with The Exorcist and Rosemary's Baby - the trinity of evil. Thanks so much for uploading your videos. Love and respect in all things horror, suspense, thriller, and mystery we come to scare, invest and frighten us fans.

You can add more detail and flesh out the characters far easier in books, however, the film script by David Seltzer was written first, then the film was made and you cannot include every detail, every description, etc. in a film. It would end up being 13-20 hrs long. Books are better, but in this case the script & film came first.
