Still top3 round wheel on the market imo. It also may smoothen our ffb but imo it feels less rubbery. Ive found rubber handles make things to rubbery feeling for me sometimes. The Alcantara makes the ffb feel slightly sharper even if softer.
I was a bit worried if it's bad for drifting and driving Rallye due to the slight D shape but imagined it can't be that bad. Glad to see it actually isn't so I can avoid buying one with leather. And good point with the orientation of the wheel especially for VR usage.
A really nice review and unboxing top marks on the editing and presentation. I think this will be my next purchase from Fanatec as i do so love this wheel. 😍😍👍
Once again a very entertaining video from you! I also find the GT2 wheel very successful. But what interests me much more is the new adapter, which came at the very end of the video, unfortunately you didn't go into it. Is the feeling much better with the adapter now? I'm also thinking about buying the adapter because the simple one creaks a bit when racing...it makes little noises.
Thank you very much mate! I have not had any time to test it with the CS QR yet acctually. I've heard that sound your speaking of once or tvice before aswell. But that was with the McLaren wheel with very high FFB in Kartkraft. But I'm gonna wait untill they release the new QR2 untill I upgrade from the plastic lite QR I think.
I have the clubsport Quick release on it now and is the same. But the bigger size of the wheel compared to the McLaren wheel makes that. But its not a big difference. But its noticable.
Awesome video man! Thanks for the review, by the way, do you feel that the force feedback strength decreases that much with the larger diameter wheel? From example a 300mm to 320mm round wheel
Thanks mate. It sure is a difference that you can feel. But I would not say it's a big difference. The bigger rim smoothens out some of the effects a bit. And that feels really nice in the hands actually. The CSL DD for an example that I use this rim with has no problem at all delivering fast and strong ffb for it.
When I had fanatec this was my favorite round wheel. Then mclaren gt3 wheel then forza then Porsche button plate wheel. I won't spend that much money on those wheels again. It's really a waste
Hey, can you tell me if we can remap the two FUNKYSWITCH sticks for example to look sideways or navigate in the menu in games? And is it easy to drift with this wheel with its D shape? Cheers, mate.
I will try to map the funkyswitch for that. I let you know later if it works or not. Maybe it's not optimal for drifting with that shape. But it works for me. But I'm a casual drifter. Love to do it but not super good at it 😅
Speedometer doesyn't work on this wheel with my Csl Elite (ps5) . Any ideas ? Did somebody else have this problem ? In gt7 /sport I have only gears numbers . Speedometer are dead ...😣
Nice review mate, one of my favorite rims!😍👌 Nice that they uppdated to magnetic paddle shifters on the V2, but have they stopped shipping it with the CS QR, did you have to pay extra for that?
@@captainflatspot Did you have to contact support to get it too? Curious because I recently bought the wheel + DD1 and got everything but the QR so had to contact them to get it..
@@captainflatspot thanks bro can you recommend them for sim racing ? i am a total noob to it and using my Dainese motocycle gloves at the moment but i think they are a bit too thick
That is a very good question. I don't think there is any big difference. Exept its 30% lighter and have magnetic shifters. But I never tried version 1 so I don't know.
thank you for your video. How's the feeling of ffb with BMW wheel and Mclaren wheel? which has more details and sharpest on your CSL DD? Which game(s) do you use BMW the most? If I play ACC, ACC, F12021 mostly. Which one do you recommend? Thank you!
Thanks mate. The Mclaren rim is smaller and in that way it's getting a sharper FFB. But the BMW feels so much more "premium" and I use it mostly for Raceroom and Rally. For ACC and F1 I use the McLaren. So much better for that. The buttons on the big BMW rim can be hard to reach.
I don't know. But it should work just fine I guess. Just make sure to use that little extra bolt that comes with the quick release and fasten the wheel. Without that the wheel has some play
Hehe. Hard to answer this 😅👍 No need really. Just really fun to have some different types for the different types of cars. The Mclaren wheel I use for open wheelers and GT3 cars. And this BMW rim I use for anything else.
I have this wheel and IMO it's not very grippy in the hands unless you are wearing gloves (it's very grippy with gloves on), also I find a lot of the buttons hard to get to quickly while racing (ACC) so I've just ordered the Mclaren V2 rim as it has more rotary switches that look easier to get to quickly. Also it;s a shame it doesn't come with any buton caps because the surface of it isn't flat so stickers don't stick well. Other than that it is nice well built wheel. I mainly race GT3 in ACC so I'll probably be better off with the McLaren wheel.
I just had a 2 hour longs session in ACC using VR. And I can agree with you. When playing ACC the McLaren rim is a better choice. The buttons are so much easier the reach. And find 😅 But other than the buttons this rim feels great to use. But from now on I'm using the McLaren wheel in ACC. As I intended when I bought it.
@@captainflatspot Glad it's not just me! The BMW wheel is a really nicely built wheel IMO but maybe not the best choice for me at the moment. At least I'll be able to compare the two side by side when the McLaren one arrives.
I don't know what wheelbase you got but I'm running my CSL DD base in compability mode with AC. Maybe try that. And in Assetto Corsa Competizione you have to activate fanatec leds in the options of the game if I remember correctly.
The BMW GT2 feels much more premium. As it should as it is a clubsport product. Regarding the QR I have to test drive it. I just installed the metal CS QR and had no time to try it yet.
Ok, never tried any other rims. Exept the logitech family of wheels I'm coming from 😅 I really like this rim. But as I said, I have not much to compare with (yet). Do you have an example of a good and balanced rim?
Thin?! That's a first that I heard ever since I beta tested the original rim which I still have. How in the world is it too thin? Heavy it was for the CSW v1 at the time though but the CSW v2 could already handle it quite decently, so I am sure the CSL DD doesn't have an issue with it either. On the other hand, did you ever hold a real car's steering wheel in your hands? Steering wheels are heavy and they are intentionally as the higher mass dampens the inertia for comfort instead of going light and rough. Since this is a GT2 rim it's made for comfort for those endurance stints, not for being nimble for drifting. As they say... you have to use the right tool for the job. I don't get what you mean by "not well balanced". Another thing that has me puzzled.
Yea I don't think it's to thin. Feels very good in the hands. And now when it's 30% lighter together with this DD there is no problem with it weight wise. I'm really happy with it. It's a massive step up for me coming from a previous G29 😅👍
@@captainflatspot ok, i have the base 2.0 and the playstation csl base. i have the CS universal hub for PC and Xbox, they are perfect centered. with wheels: GT (very good), drift (perfect), a momo prototipo (to big), the little flat 1 (very good); the formula 1 (perfect) and i know the porsche csl (very good, its the clubsport RS) and of course, the bmw.

you can move the paddles little closer to the center. And if you make some custom discs or spacers its possible to move the paddles closer to the rim
