Thanks for all the time you’ve put in to the channel. Very informative.
Thank you. Enjoyed that.
A menu set up and guide would greatly help those like me who are first time users of Q3 and may be experiencing difficulties
Saturday 08-July-2023 I will post my comprehensive Leica Q3 setup guide & tutorial, full explanations of settings and lots of live demonstrations on how to use the camera :)
@@mathphotographer Many thanks; much obliged and looking forward to it
Very impress. Do you have any videos with Leica Q3 for daylight portrait?
Thank you for the video
Thank you for this great video about the Leica Q3!
Super! I still have to wait another 2 weeks for mine :D
Crossing fingers you get your Q3 very soon, Armin.
Thanks. Amazing comparison!
Glad you liked it!
Hi, thanks. I received my Q3 last week after 4 weeks waiting and now, I can enjoy with it.
No freeze, the Q3 was already updated to firmware v1.10.
PS. If like me you use the SL-2 battery (because I own a SL-2), you’ll be limited to 4k video.
The 8k are only allowed with the original Q3 battery.
Great comment, thanks for pointing out!
Where did you preorder from? I have a Q3 preorder with BH…its about 3 weeks now waiting.
@@JoeGiz64 i ordered 4 weeks before receiving it. I’m located in Germany. Be patient…
We’ll done. I’m still waitlisted, curious if youve run into any of the freeze or other issues
Freezing only once, then with firmware upgrade gone forever :) Crossing fingers that you get your Q3 soon!
@@mathphotographer thanks!
Superb....insane
Thanks for this great video! Can you share your shooting approach, settings, tripod etc.?
Stopped down to f/8, ISO 100, multifield metering, self-timer 2sec, sturdy on tripod to avoid shakes and vibrations. I use Gitzo tripods most of the time.
@@mathphotographer Thanks! And how do you focus? What focus mode?
Beautiful images and as always well explained down to the details as we can expect from you by now.
Thanks for sharing, greetings from a mild rainy (and we needed it) Amsterdam
Have a wonderful weekend !
Many thanks RS, our weather in Zurich is a mixed bag too this weekend but I appreciate that it cooled down a bit. All the best and happy Sunday!
great channel!! I'm lucky to find this! Liked and Subbed!!
Amazing ❤
Thanks Yasser!
Interesting review, thanks. Any plans to produce a high ISO test video?
Thanks David, I did already in this video: NEW Leica Q3 ISO-Invariance, Dynamic Range, High ISO & OIS ( ua-cam.com/video/YH3LT4229ug/v-deo.html ) If you now switch from still images to video shooting mode, you will see the same excellent high ISO performance also in Q3 videos.
@@mathphotographer Sorry, missed that one! Thanks
What was this event that you were at?
Good 👍
:) thx
Would love to see the comparison between Leica Q3 and H X2D with XCD38 side by side
Same here
Will consider, thanks.
I see in some of the footage you had the camera doing the denoise. Do you suggest using the in camera denoise for night shots or disabling it and denoising in post when needed?
It depends ... if you find it tedious waiting for the denoise period (which is as long as the exposure time of the shot) you can switch denoise off and denoise the image later in post, works very well. But generally I leave long exposure noise reduction switched on. Saves me one step in post and works very well in-camera.
Is the q2m or q3 better at night?
Great informative video like always. Thank you. Do you experience freezing (and you have to turn off the camera and take out the battery and put it back in) with Q3?
Thanks Ben. I did shoot the Q3 a lot and had only once a freezing, restarted after batteries out/in and it was gone and never came back. I am now also on newest firmware.
Freezing does happen to me as well, only if I go to review the photo right after taking it, I read somewhere that it used to happen on SL2 as well, it was fixed with firmware update, I guess it will be fixed on Q3 also
It does surprise me that you do not experience any "freezing" of the Q3 which I do once in a while. Have you found a solution?
A big hammer or failing that a firmware update works just fine.
I had a freezing only once and with newest firmware the freezing vanished and never came back.
@@mathphotographer I also have not had a freeze since installing 1.1.
Hello Math! Love your work and information provided here on the channel. I have a quick question for you. I’m looking to buy my first rangefinder and torn between the m10-p and m10-r. I hear a lot saying the m10p is a good start but I only worry about printing large and if I would like to crop doing street work. Any thoughts?
M10R definitely. Better sensor.
@@Eliehbk Thx my man! Funny enough, I came to that final decision yesterday and finally decided, that’s it!
@@FormlessPhotography Good choice. I had both and now own the 11 and think the M10R is the most balanced of all. The M10P is overpriced for removing the logo. The M10 sensor blows highlights very easily and is nosier and has less dynamic range than the R. Enjoy. did you get the silver or black?
@@Eliehbk Even better…. Went with the black paint! As I working photographer with these have become my investment pieces. I’ve studied Leica for some time now and come to understand that the “Limited Editions” seem to hold their value better. It just took me a while to find the time to get fully into the rangefinder with all of my commercial work.
@@FormlessPhotography The black paint is the most beautiful M camera right now. I tried to trade my M11 with someone who had it, but didn't accept :)
Wondering why did you closed the comments section on the first videos in the channel and what’s actually your nationality 🤔
Actually, the haze creates an atmosphere. You should go to Athens which has turned orange! All in all Leica and you make a good team. A capitol performance!
Thanks. Will have to watch maybe hundreds of videos until mine will come I guess.
I am sorry, and yes, the waiting list in the Zurich Leica Store is now at 3-digits and continuously growing, that's likely the same world-wide ... crossing fingers that you get your Q3 soon.
Looking the Hasselblad is the future before the leica 100mp for the last edition haha, i think so.
Do you know if Leica will produce another S camera?
I heard a 100 megapixel S camera is in development
Yes I know but I am obviously not allowed to say "yes" or "no" or comment on Leica's product pipeline :) As you see in my Leica videos, I get Leica products before they are announced and before market start and had for this privilege to sign a binding non-disclosure agreement.
Do you think the Leica Q3 is more superior than Sony A7RV?
Not comparable, compact full frame camera (Q3) vs fully-fledged system camera with full frame sensor :)
@@mathphotographer Q3 is same size as Sony A7RV 😂
Very nice as always! Is there a way to get in contact with you? I finally have the q3. I took it on some heavy-duty duty jobs, aka contemporary dance performance, and would like to share some thoughts you may find interesting for a video. Personally, I am finding diverse flaws and some bugs. And I am preparing a long list about my findings i would like to share with you.
In general I would say that the camera has in my opinion poor operability functions for Professional photographers because one has very limited access to direct overraid what the camera suggest in some automatic modes like auto iso or overreiding the automatic metering of the camera. Anyway, nothing that could not be fixed with a firmware update. I also did a comparition with my sony rx1rii. I also have a folder in my drive i could share. There is little difference in quality with the q3. 28mm is sharper tough. Af-s q3 wins af-c and eye-af sony outperforms the q3.
Please let me know if I can pick your brain about these flaws/bugs I have found.
Cheers
Gio

@StreetMusicReportage Very curious about your use of the Sony rx1R2 for performances? I shoot the same genres and have considered that camera. I am in the process of making up my mind about a Lecia Q3 or Q2. How do you see these cameras in terms of best qualified to shoot shows? Thanks
@JimMoore i never had a q2 so i can say much about it. i use the rx1rii as my 35mm lens for every kind of shooting requiring a 35mm lens. Mainly reportage, documentary photography, environmental portrait, and dance. By dance can be tricky if there are too many people on stage, but generally, the af is predictable in is working so u can adjust ur composition. I got the q3 not to replace the rx but to work along to have a good manual focus, a wide field of you, a more releible AF-s, better video. Plus, i am a fan of leaf shutter, quite and no flickering. With the rx1, keep in mind that is an old model reparation can be costly if u don have an insurance. I already chane the lens twice, and rhe complete electric boards. After 7 years of bashing the camera had enough. Also, remember, rx1 can just be repaired by sony. Many small certified shops lake important equipment to recalibrate the sensor after reparations.
Why have leica only told you and nobody else that the base ISO is 100? what is ISO 50 for? does this also apply to the Q2 ? Why do many reviews say the ISO 50 on these cameras is genuine?
Its in the marketing material for the Leica Q3 for the Leica Stores, I have it because I was part of the campaign and had the Q3 5 weeks before the announcement.
@@mathphotographer Thank you for the reply........when would you use ISO 50 with a Q2 or Q3 ? is there any benefit or would it be better just to ignore ISO 50 and use ISO 100 ?
Thank you for the video.. all your videos very informative and straight forward. An excellent channel that I follow with great interest. This said, I just don't like images that more and more are all starting to look like overprocessed HDR photos. It just doesn't look natural anymore. Its OK for bright lights to be white and its OK for shadows to be fairly dark. Why do we permanently need to hunt to overly reveal details in highlight to the point they look like muddy mis-tones, forcefully look to find excess details in the shadows and images to be totally clean, sterilized and completely depleted of any grain? I don't understand this. Every review on photography and cameras has become “look how much I can bring down the highlights, how much I can bring up the shadows and how clean this all looks".. hummmmm, really? Soon photography will all become an uniform collection of bland mid-town exposures with clipped highlights, crushed blacks and any kind of grainy texture having become a thing of the past. OK, and then what? Is this the perfection we are all after new camera after the next new camera and new sensor after the next new sensor? Will everyone be happy with images that all look like perfect fake postcards? We've reached a wall of imaging purification that is slowly eroding that fundamental essence of imperfection being the better value of things How much I miss film photography with big botchy grain, colors that were anything but just an approximation of reality and blacks and highlights that no matter how too white or too black, all looked so organic and personable. I have no idea where all this faultless and visual "excellence" is going to take us, except that will be forther and further from the purity of photography and definitely nowhere that interests me any longer in any way. Thanks again for your reviews and sharing your gear and experience using them.
Thank you very much for your positive feedback, much appreciated. And I fully respect and understand your comment on HDR look - that's why in my very last comment in the video I pointed back to the single shot frame :)
✌️out Maths
YES - piece out :)
