I like your mindset. You really don’t need a land cruiser or jeep rubicon to drive out on the desert or forest service roads........I probably won’t be driving Paris to Dakar or the outback any time soon......But there is plenty of dirt roads around Idaho, Nevada and Oregon that need explored
Drove my envoy from utah to Oregon and back didnt have a problem
I have an 02, 4.2 with 226,000 miles on it. Just completed 9 weeks blue lining out west with it. I brought too much fishing Stuff. Only thing I'd want different with MY 02 Envoy is 4 wheel drive didn't come with...21, 22 mpg hwy. I'm partial to GM having been a line tech for so long. Great presentation! I don't hear well at all and I had NO problem hearing you. Well done Sir!
@@TheYammerHammer my first thought would be serp belt tensioner! This envoy has had a couple. This one hasn't been on a trailer yet...being a tech I am capable of on the road repairs. Like tensioner at Hannagan Meadows. Still, a quarter million miles...
Right about easy maneuvering in traffic. Took my 2005 Trail Blazer to NYC and drove around Brooklyn.
Just had the valve cover gasket replaced along with all the plugs and all the ignition coils. Runs sweet.
The Envoy and Trailblazers are incredibly underrated off road options. The 4x4 disconnect in the front end is really the only let down. I have an 07 Envoy. Lifted and on 31s
Agreed. Took out the fork and collar setup of the disconnect and replaced it with the sleeve that is used in the AWD GMT360s. Permanently connects passenger CV with I-shaft, so slightly less fuel economy and slightly higher rate of wear, but oh well. I was tired of exploding the disconnect.
When I had to replace mine this last time I didn't know about the awd sleeve until I replaced the entire disconnect unit. So when this one grenades I already have the parts to rebuild it with the awd sleeve.
@@TheYammerHammer yes. 31 inch tires. Because at the moment it suits my needs. I've seen guys put up 37s on these. Takes a little cutting. So hey, way to be dick for judging someone else's way of getting around because it's not an often used platform. 🤣
Had an 06 Envoy Denali same color, it had the 5.3L, 4x4, and G80 locker as well, it was a good SUV in snow
Best video I've found describing measurements of the interior. Thanks
Glad it was helpful!
Perfect for stealth camping and camping Perfect for Hotshot trucking with a 18ft / 20ft flatbed car trailer the gmc envoy and Chevy Trailblazer are basically a gmc Yukon or Chevy Tahoe just a bit smaller great trucks love our trucks
great stuff man, just one critic, alil better finish on the edges perhaps epoxyed and sanded and rounded corners would make it look better finished. its very ultilitarian as it sits.
I have a 03' ext Lt 2wd with the 4.2 and so far I have replaced the timing kit, changed the crankshaft (while still in the vehicle that was fun, I put the 3in. Front and rear lift swapped upper control arm's and put bf Goodrich 285-17's and now I think I'll put a 3in. Body lift and see if I can get bigger tire's.
Pretty cool. I have the same exact suv with 47k miles.
Nicessss!!! I have an 2004 Envoy an I am trying to go stealth in South Florida.😜👍✌️🥰
I would like a Large with everything, TOO GO!! the TOO GO!! is a David Lee Roth video reference .
That will be a nice little rig for someone. 👍
I love the look! Size wise, heck I've seen vids of people building out Kia's. Nice work as always.
Basically a smaller GMC Yukon we had a 2006 GMC Envoy XL 3rd row seating
What size rims are you using ?
It turned out really nice
One error in your info on these vehicles. Most with the 10 bolt rear end and standard length will have an 8" ring gear. You either have to have a V8 model or an EXT model to get the larger 8.6" ring gear on the rear. SS models will have a 14 bolt instead.
Don’t forget that sweet 6 disk CD changer for the camping tunes 😁
Some also had tvs with dvd players that come down from the ceiling and heated seats.
How can I find the same shock/coil set up for my 2005 GMC ENVOY XUV 5.3L I am new to overlanding and need HELP I really like your set up. I just did a cheap ebay lift kit with some 265 70 17 M/T tire... but I want to do it the right way... I have 0 experience with lifting a vehicle the proper way. Anything you share with me I would truly appreciate it... thanks
I was thinking why the thumbs down but yeah well it's stealth but I gave the thumbs 👍 not down
Not for 2 but yeah really like this truck not a family truck anymore
So what are you saying about the mattress size on the Envoy vs Suburban, that the Envoy's mattress is longer. You saying you have to cut the Suburban mattress down to fit in the suburban, but you dont have to cut the exact same mattress to fit the Envoy. 54" wide. Extend it out to 75". So its longer. Cool. What do you mean when you say its the micro version. I was looking at the Suburbans = Tahoe/Yukon XL but you all do realize there is the same thing with these Envoy's, you can get the XL version, which is longer. Might be wise to look into that because the rear doors wont have the wheel well apart of the door. I will have to look into the gas mileage between the 2, but having more room might be something to look into. I need something to go 4x4'ing in and sleep in and yet have it as a daily driver. So many options.
Awesome content as always. Have you ever done a Mitsubishi Pajero/Shogun/Montero? Do you think they hold up as well as the suburban in terms of reliability and ease when they are 15-20 years old?
Great build! Good job! I was wondering if you guys could work on Ford excursion because the are longer and bigger. That would be dope
@SUBOVERLAND do you have a part number for the Moog Springs that you used? Plz and thank you
Offroadtb.com has alot of information for building offroad GMT360s. Love my trailblazer. Have a 05 with 3 inches of lift and some 32in Milestar Patagonia MTs. It's a real 4X4. Body on frame with a low range transfer case. They can be very capable little rigs pretty cheap. Just need a little elbow grease.
The GMC Envoy Denali is a lot like the Chevy Trailblazer SS
If you go with a Saab 9-7x with the airbag suspension, do you recommend converting that over to coil? Can that even be done?
Easily, I’d replace the stock air bags. And order springs They leaked down and the compressor was too small with a short duty cycle that would stop when over heated. Could only get a tire to about 29psi
Im living out of my traiblazer 02 just getting started in t but really like the mattress do you know where I can pick that up need something like that and the Rack on top , is Kool...
lifted 05 tb here on 33s and lockers soon to be 456s snd hopefully 35s
@@TheYammerHammer try again buddy im lifted on 33s with full skids bumper winch tb ext rearend with a yukon locker and soon ill have my 456s in. do your research
look me up on facebook! My trailblazer is on 4 different offroad sites and has been featured on their cover photos. might wanna do some google searches b4 commenting on something you have no idea on.
nice build. simple and useful. Is there a honda pilot in a future build?
Can you do the San package in this small rig?
I really enjoyed this video, I live in Germany, so to send my SUV to you would be a little crazy.... What I would like to know is, if it would be possible to buy the roof rack, and what be the cost to that....?
Honestly, that is a Harbor Freight roof rack for this era of Envoys and Trailblazers and only costs $89.99 US. If Harbor Freight will ship to Germany, even after shipping costs and taxes, it will still be really affordable.
Where did you get the wheels (rims)? About how much were they?
Stock wheels
@@suboverland did you have them painted?
Which mattress do you use?
If only my Saab 97x was a envoy... Oh wait 😂
What kind of wheels are they? Are they just painted stock wheels?
Painted stock wheels
I have an 07 trailblazer how did you get the backseat tofold all the way down?
Driver and passenger seat has to be moved forward I suspect.
After watching further the rear seats have been removed I see the passenger fuse box in the open
Yeah, the only way is the remove the rear seats and then build a platform or put a couple of coolers in those spots to give it that flat space.
What price are you asking for this vehicle?
There's no lift kit on it? The tires make it look that high? This thing sits higher than my 07 envoy. Let me know where I can get that for rack to.
He essentially did a 2.5 inch lift with the Bilstine 5100s and the Tahoe springs in the back.
Offroadtb.com has alot of information.
Acabei de comprar uma
Hello! What is the price?
Is it still available?
With 235/80/17 do you need wheels spacers?
I'd say yes. He has another video where he takes it camping to shake down the suspension. It has a shot of the front suspension. The upper ball joint is behind the tire not on top of it.
anything bigger than a 30.5 will need spacers from the balljoint. 1.5in spacer/adapter to 6x5.5 lug pattern is your best bet
you forgot hummer h3
um guess Ill um move on to um another site, um good bye um
Imagine if someone did this with a trailblazer SS
Is this sold?
@@TheYammerHammer damn dude..
I am interested :) I emailed you!
@@TheYammerHammer nah man these things are actually amazing vehicles trust me and the trans works great if you use it properly
@@TheYammerHammer yeah when you don’t take care of them
Did see this company that does same thing?
