Avoid the Sandrin. They wouldn't acknowledge a manufacturing defect, said they would sell a replacement blade, then completely ignored enery attempt to reach them to actually buy the blade or get further service. They were sent pics of a stop pin that gets chewed by the blade, said it's not happening then ignored me completely. Really disappointing in a $400 knife.
I also had an absolutely horrible experience with the Sandrin customer service over a stripped screw from trying to switch the pocket clip to lefty. Their cheap T6 screws got chewed up and no one would help me resolve a $2 problem on a $500 zirconium knife. Absolute joke..Spend your money elsewhere on quality companies that use quality materials and back up their products with great customer service.
I was given a CJRB Pyrite w/ G10 handle as a gift. Looks like it was redesigned a little as the belt clip is different and has screw access thru the clip itself. I want to remove the clip but its fastened on with what appear to be tiny torx head screws. Any idea of the size of the bit required to remove it?
It wasn’t on this video, but I just purchased a Spyderco paramilitary 2 with the micarta handle and not only is it a beauty but it is super SHARP right out of the box.
Excellent list. I haven't got the Drop Bear yet, but I have been won over by Kizer in 2022 and have been thoroughly impressed with everything I got from them so far - Yorkie, Feist, Feist XL, Begleiter XL, Latt Vind Mini, Sheepdog XL, Mini Roach etc. Thanks DCA and KnifeCenter for all the news and entertainment.
I have the Keizer Deviant in m390, and for me personally, it's my favourite knife I've bought this year ( and I've bought a few lol ) that drop bear looks awesome 👌
My drop bear came with the spring in the strongest position closest hole to the pivot and it was great. I moved both sides back 1 notch and it's incredible ! The most amazing action , better than any other crossbar lock for sure
I'm one of those who bought a CJRB Pyrite. Mine is the top of the range with the milled pocket clip. This is an awesome knife for $70. Such a great button lock, thumb stud works great.
How does the rockwall perform for those who have bought it? I almost snagged one when they first dropped to try the steel but I seen they listed target hrc 60-61 which is low to see what magnacut was capable of should I have bought one?
I got the Drop Bear fro my wife and two weeks later she came to me and said "I didnt understand your knife thing... But Im really liking what I can do now Im carying a knife regulalrly"
Hey I need some suggestions. I love my CRKs but I want to diversify a bit. I really appreciate simple knives, washers no springs and simple to maintain. What are some other knives that fill that same slot? Thanks man.
For me, top bracket the Sandrin for sure. The Rockwall is good, but it does not really bring anything special to the table. Overall, the Drop-Bear for me too.
As owning a few of these knives. I would have to go with the stainless steel pyrite and Rockwall. Thanks for all the content this year. You guys do a great job. Have a Merry Christmas!
I think you made the right decision there, David. There's definitely something different about the Drop Bear; for me it's the 'folding Kephart' I always wanted to come into being. Now, all I need is the money to be able to purchase one ! 😆 I'm actually wondering just what Thomas would have chosen and why ? Now I come to mention it, what would Seth V have chosen and why ? Merry Christmas to you and yours and thanks for the past year. 🤗☺️❤️✌️🖖🤘👋
Been carrying that KC exclusive pyrite since I got it, a couple of months now. I usually like larger blades, but the blade is enough for daily tasks. Action is great, zero stick on the button lock. Gotta say I love the look of that Sandrin.
Always hard to put a budget blade up against a premium blade for best knife. I absolutely expect the premium blades to have much better materials & build quality. However, as always, you do a great job making realistic comparisons by including other factors that level the field to some degree. I've been burnt by poor Gerber quality too many times to trust them again, but everything else deserves a spot on the table. As much as I like the Pyrite, the Drop Bear does sit nicely in the middle ground. Sharp blades all.
Slight quibble. The Drop Bear (which I absolutely *love*) doesn't have 25 levels of tension. Because 10 of them are duplicates. It's got 15 unique levels, and that's assuming you are comfortable putting the two springs at different tensions on each side of the blade. Putting uneven tension on it seems like a bad plan to me, so as far as I'm concerned, for me, there are only 5 options. It's still one of my absolute favourite knives. The moment I picked it up, it felt *right*.
I don’t get the whole karambit thing. A claw like blade that by its very nature is not good for slashing. What’s it for? To grab something fleshy or boney & draw them in for a kiss? I bought the Lionsteel H1 bc I thought it was a very nice compromise. I’m a fan of Lionsteel stuff. They’re products are good looking & very polished.
A friend of mine has one of the original Sandrins. It's ugly and the thin handle makes for poor ergos BUT it can cut and slice like a machine. He's in the building game and uses his knife hard on a daily basis and only needs to sharpen it 2-3 times a year - even then it's more of a touch up than a full sharpen. Oh and you need a good diamond sharpener because of how hard the tungsten is. Have a great day!!
one question, do you ship to Germany? If not, could you please recommend an online in Europe with the same knifes. Th am you very much and have a positive year 2023
Thank for the video, I started expanding my collection, I only have a couple knifes that I could consider nice, I just bought the Kizer Drop Bear Toxic Storm FatCarbon, and a Steel Will Warbot, and I already received my CJRB Pyrite and it is very nice I already want to buy another one.
Yup. The Rockwall is it for me. It pretty much knocks every gentleman folder feature out of the park. I bought one and it feels like a great deal because everything about it is perfect. I don’t even like thumb studs much but these are out of the way and accessible at the same time. A few of the knives on the list I want to try. Yup me of the new Bucks might be nice. The new Benchmade OTF looks great too! Also the new Gerber has my attention because I like the Fasrball but I would rather have a finger safe lock. Thanks for a great year yourself!
I'm already saving for Sandrin Monza 😎 Titanium, slim and lightweight, thin and slicy blade with almost infinite edge retention? It just check all the boxes except price ☠️
D2 is my favourite everyday knife steel! Easy to sharpen and keeps its edge very well! I dont need a knife to last 2 months before its dull but then takes hours to get it sharp, if u even can....or somet and ing that expensive to where i wont use it for EVERYTHING an scared of loosing it. I USE my knifes EVERYDAY all day! From cutting open my english muffin in the morning to what ever i need it for. I don't mind taking 3 min once a week to touch up my edge. A few strokes on my stone and or a few on some leather...keeps my D2 a sharp as anyone would need!
And for that matter.....I dont mind Bucks 440 they use for the 110! They come CRAZY sharp for a stock edge and is super easy to put a edge on and holds a edge good enough! I beat the crap out of my Buck 110 and is razor sharp all the time !
Where is your Begleiter XL and New Titanium and also Carbon Fiber Demko AD20.5's? And, what about the New, Cold Steel, Tanto AD10 and Lynn C. Thompson Spartan? :-) And, what happened to the release of the Cold Steel, Atlas-Lock, Mayhem? Do you know? Cool Video! :-) Peace, Stiletto :-)
Good choices overall, as always. Interesting that the Drop Bear with the form factor of an "old-fashioned" Old Hickory Kephart knife made it to the top of your list via innovation, fit and finish, and usability. Totally understandable - thanks for sharing, I didn't have it on my radar.
Excellent list!! Top pick is truly subjective. If you're new to knives and want to purchase a top knife, go with one of the three picks. If you know your way around knives, decide for yourself from the top 3 candidates. Love how you have three picks for somebodys particular budget. I don't have to spend hundreds to get a top pick knife. As a matter of fact I purchased the partially serrated Warbot a couple months ago. It ended up being a top pick and fills my niche for a partially serrated blade. THANKS!!
I think we all knew you were going to pick the drop bear. I’m waiting on the Papa Bear to come out with the 3.5 inch blade. At least I’m hoping that is a thing. Love the blade. Just like my blades at the 3.5 to 4 inch mark.

My pick this year is the Rockwall. More so, Tactile Knife Co. as whole. They Win the knife community award for 2022 imo. I have a few pens from Tactile Turn, and I own an early flipper Rockwall in CTS-XHP. It had some QC issues when I got it and they were extremely amenable and diligent in fixing the issue and sending it back to me. It’s a great little knife at a great price, and when you consider it’s made completely in house by a relatively small company in TX, that just drives it home for me. Bravo Tactile Knife Co. can’t wait to see what they do in the future.
I can’t wait to get my hands on the Drop Bear. I kind of think it looks like what I wish they’d do with the Squid. I can see it being a cross between Bugout and Banter, but it also looks very Squid-ish to me. Great video!
Drop Bear is what excited me the most too and I was rooting for it to win. It's a blade shape I love - I get similar warm feelings from the Civivi Button-lock Elementum and the Ka-Bar Dozier.
Its a bummer civivi used nitro v instead of 14c28n on the new elementum. Still interresting though, but it doesnt really stand out to me with all the new buttonlocks. I get very bored by civivi the last 2 years. Hopefully they can make something exciting again like kizer did with drop bear.
FAQ: Ahoy David, Seth and Thomas :) Thanks a lot for your work, love this channel. 300k subs so CONGRATS !!! I just wish to see more and more little edc or pocket fixed blades here... Geez I want the Drop Bear so bad... But I had already decided the PM2 would be my next knife, as a "knife guy" feels like I've got to have one, right? I've been eyeing the Crucarta version, but man that Drop Bear in fat carbon is just calling my name I swear...
Thanks so much guys! And two great picks David, I love both of them! Hope to you guys again before Christmas, but if not, wish you all a very happy and safe Christmas. Keith
I like the Warbot the best of this lineup for it's design and ruggedness. Give me a Magnacut option and I would definitely buy it. I have Spydercos and a 940 that I love the most. Is Benchmade going to come out with a Magnacut Osborne? I want one!
Wouldn't matter if Benchmade came out with CPM Magnacut if they send them out sub optimal on thermal cycles. They COULD and you'd pay for more than you receive.

Man, you guys are the most consistent media source from a knife store. Awesome job! Congrats on your milestone 🥳🥳🙂🙂
Yes they are, I just wish they would add Afterpay and Sezzle to their checkout options

Sandrin Monza looks 👌 🔥 😍

I started drooling on my desk when the Rockwall came out. Must have.
Lots of new and better axis locks out there. ! Kizer ,Gerber , Hogue even civivi. !! Great new stuff!
The Benchmade Shootout is made so well. I handled one and was immediately blown away. It's on my wishlist.
Definitely one of the first Benchmades in a long time I’d like to buy, that and the Mini Adamas.
I just got the Buck 110+ with the same styling. I love it. Just looks super great.
It became my favorite knife of all time. Took the classic I loved and made it so easy to carry. I'd like to see wood inlays soon.
Check out the 110 slim pro in burlap micarta when it comes back in stock. 👍
I'd also go with the kizer drop bear.
I think you guys finally buried any UA-cam knife competition. Thank you for all of the content DCA!
Hey I need some suggestions. I love my CRKs but I want to diversify a bit. I really appreciate simple knives, washers no springs and simple to maintain. What are some other knives that fill that same slot? Thanks man.

@@knifecenter thank you guys. I appreciate it
For me, top bracket the Sandrin for sure. The Rockwall is good, but it does not really bring anything special to the table.
Overall, the Drop-Bear for me too.
I agree. Sandrin has that tungsten blade too.
Kizer drop bear was an appropriate choice. Not too pricey. Quality build. The high end ones were nice, but way out of my budget.
Drop Bear all the way. I have the blacked out version with the purple thumb studs, and I love that knife!
Benchmade Taggedout for me, worked great on hunting trip. Thanks, for the video!
My top pick would be the Tactile Rockwall. I hope they decide to make a flipper version of it in the future.
The first Rockwalls were flippers. I have one; it's a great piece. I don't like thumb studs so it suits me perfectly.
Yes sir, the exclusive Pyrite is beautiful, clean, slicey and the fit and finish are spot on.
The choil on the pyrite gives a great option for a pinch grip over the pivot enabling you to put a lot of force in a cut.
As owning a few of these knives. I would have to go with the stainless steel pyrite and Rockwall. Thanks for all the content this year. You guys do a great job. Have a Merry Christmas!
my personal favorite that i purchased this year is my gerber propel auto. thank u sir
Was waiting for this one!!!!!!
I think you made the right decision there, David. There's definitely something different about the Drop Bear; for me it's the 'folding Kephart' I always wanted to come into being.

Hi DCA and Thomas. I see some negative comments. My opinion, I don’t think all folks understand your parameter’s. Guys, have a great holiday season.

Glad I held off on the Pyrite because your new exclusive looks brilliant!
The Drop Bear is amazing. I really want one!
Yep ! Drop Bear my choice Too., perfect size for me.!
You know what would be dope? A KC exclusive Olive Drab Alox Victorinox Huntsman.
Best knives time *YES*
That drop bear is definitely on my radar! 20CV lookin real good
The Rockwall ! Hands down
I don’t get the whole karambit thing.
Like that Buck
Damn I wish that Tactile had a reversible clip. That Sandrin is looking real nice.

Just a question...what do you think of puma knives?
I love Steel Will Brand.
those Kizer Fat Carbon are easy to spot
That exclusive Pyrite is amazing. Great job on that one. Kizer owned 2022.
any idea why the detent on the knife center exclusive is so much weaker than the regular g10 pyrite.
Hmm, it shouldn't be. All of the ones I have handled have been pretty consistent. Yours might be an anomaly. -DCA
I'm already saving for Sandrin Monza 😎 Titanium, slim and lightweight, thin and slicy blade with almost infinite edge retention? It just check all the boxes except price ☠️
My pick is the Tactile Rockwall. 2nd place is the Drop Bear.
I would have also included the Kizer Cormorant, Kizer Begleiter XL, and Civivi Mini Praxis.
D2 is my favourite everyday knife steel! Easy to sharpen and keeps its edge very well! I know the price range is very different but how would you compare the shootout to the deadlock ?
Completely different ends of the spectrum. One is tanky and as solid as it gets and the other is made for ultralight carry. -DCA
Why is there no reversible pocket clip on that micarta/ti version of the pyrite. What a shame.
Good choices overall, as always. Interesting that the Drop Bear with the form factor of an "old-fashioned" Old Hickory Kephart knife made it to the top of your list via innovation, fit and finish, and usability. Totally understandable - thanks for sharing, I didn't have it on my radar.
#1
Tactile Knife Rockwall
The Kizer seems the best to me too. Should be a top selling for years.
I've never felt movement in my Axis lock knives, also my favourite locking mech.
Yep, I tested some Axis locks just now, and I don't feel any movement. Plus washers have the advantage of not being prone to contamination.
How do you sharpen the sandrin ?
Gerber Savvy is very nice.wish it was just a little cheaper.
The plain Jane drop bear piqued my interest but the fat carbon version really gives me the fizz
Just got mine yesterday, its beautiful in person
Great video. Wish I had a bucket of money to purchase a few of these knives.
THANKS!!
Great Video. I like the Pyrite. It's just a great looking thing for the money
The Knafs Lander or the Big Banter are my favorites so far this year.
Nice i just got the Kershaw outlier. Very good quality for a good price.
I think we all knew you were going to pick the drop bear. I’m waiting on the Papa Bear to come out with the 3.5 inch blade. At least I’m hoping that is a thing. Love the blade. Just like my blades at the 3.5 to 4 inch mark.
The Benchmade 940-1 is awesome every day carry surprised it isn’t on here.
That excellent knife was released in 2014. This vid is focused on items that were new for 2022. Cheers! -DCA
David, have you ever thought about making videos for kitchen knives? They seem like a popular holiday item this year!
Normalize jimping along the spine of folding blades !! Love it. Often find myself preferring that and utilizing the jimping when making fine cuts. I feel a lot of companies avoid it aesthetically but it looks great imo!
We pick the same as DCA. Cowabunga.!!
I'm shocked that Knife Center exclusive Gemini button lock in CPM 4V isn't here! I was blown away when DCA showed it and after getting one it's a great knife. Not the most ergo, but it overcomes that!
Nice video. I agree with your decision.
Great content! I would highly recommend watching at 1.75x playback speed. Still very understandable (he talks very slow)
Terminus xr svn35 or $22 kershaw bevy. Knives that actually get used other that fidgeting. Thanks.
New the curb pyrite would be there
Always great content! Thank you, DCA!
Pyrite for the win in my opinion. I'm loving mine and I own many different in this price range. It feels way more expensive than it is.
Yep with you 100% - high quality esp. the lock makes it feel more premium. Have a great day.
I can’t wait to get my hands on the Drop Bear. I kind of think it looks like what I wish they’d do with the Squid. I can see it being a cross between Bugout and Banter, but it also looks very Squid-ish to me. Great video!
CJRB Pyrite is Knife of the Year. Honestly. They nailed it, and its a phenomenal knife, especially considering the price.
Definitely worthy of the number 1 spot -DCA
If it wasn’t their fake ass powder steel rpm9 I’d be in
I love my Drop Bear. I own two Steel Wills and they've been very disappointing.
Quite carry Vanax super clean with knurled titanuim scales
I like the Pyrite, but I want the Warbot. As for the mid range. Can’t afford the, unlimited.
Haven’t seen the Kizer before, but I want one.

Been carrying the pyrite for a couple of months, unfortunately haven't been running my channel lately so no need to switch it up
Thanks so much guys! And two great picks David, I love both of them! Hope to you guys again before Christmas, but if not, wish you all a very happy and safe Christmas. Keith
Have you done a video on survival knifes. Especially the one call survival Lilly knife . Take care and be safe sir.
I really would like to get my hands on the worktuf gear nymph
Wow Gerber about time, good steel. Needs to be titanium, 5hen perfect.
Great Vid...
