      Yep, really liking this thing. Still a lot of other things to do to it though. Hopefully I'll be able to get a good bit more power out of it still.

      @@novicelumberjack I brought down the lowers on mine last year for saw fest. Lost a bit of torque unfortunately, but still had the grunt to place second. That mod doesn’t always work I’ve noticed. Maybe if I knew what I was doing it would🤔

    Impressive for what was done👍🏻 in some cases, piston work definitely pays off!
    I've only ported about a dozen saws but have only fully polished to a nearly mirror shine 2 exhaust ports. Typically call it good after 800 grit or scotchbrite on a split mandrel.

    Stock carburetor or did you swap out for the Tillotson?

    • @novicelumberjack
      @novicelumberjack  Рік тому +5

      That's actually still the stock Chinese carb. It's really running great considering what little I have done to it.

    Hard to beat some good Ole machine work. I think you move the transfers up a few degrees, a muffler mod, and a slight timing advance, you'll have a screamer.

    Have you ever done cedar wood with these chain saws

    My compression release dropped and dented piston and cylinder had to scrape ring groove to free the ring got Stihl relief valve all good now still need Stihl chain adjuster gear and the good oil pump for the 36 bar, but I just opened the exit of muffler and turn the HI screw 1/4 turn in and it runs real strong.

    Can’t go wrong with those rough timing duration’s… I don’t ever really cut out my torque and I’ve found those Hyway aftermarket coils from hls almost always help my performance so I just immediately start there anymore…. Dragging down those lowers in the 660’z to help that fuel charge get to the uppers…. Just good solid fun anytime you are playing around and trying to get a little bit more out of a chip ripper!!! Keep kicking butt, dude!!!

    If you want more rpm, advance the timing some more and shorten you blowdown a bit. They can usually be advanced quite a bit in my experience.

    I cut my shin bone 1/2 into and just because I had to learn the hard way not to do what I did and the chain brake didn't even help so I took it off

    Ye man I'm looking forward to this! Not only upper Transfers need raising but I think the Intake duration may be a little short too... Maybe 78 to 80 is ideal.... But hey... You can raise the uppers and test and then maybe lower Intake and test to see what's what! While all still maintaining over 40 degrees case compression..... Keep it up dude love these vids!

    • @novicelumberjack
      @novicelumberjack  Рік тому +3

      Thanks man. Yeah, still quite a bit of playing around left to do. It's a fun saw to work on.

      @@novicelumberjackI build two of the 660 kits and the cylinder s were Int 82 amd ex 96 stock... So I didn't move them just widened the exhaust.... I have one with tramsfers at 119 and the other with Transfers at 115. This if course leaves me with only 37 and 33 degrees case. Comp respectively so since case comp is low I compensated by running really open Exhaust so the back pressure doesn't combat the case charge through the Transfers. I feel that is future builds if I can get the machine work done, I will drop the jug to get Ex to 98 or 99 and jb the Intake back up to 78/79
      Keep in mind the 660 Ex port width is limited because of the Piston pin locations so I think that's why these saws tend to like a higher Ex roof so they can breath. Mine run awesome at 96 roof but I Havnt cut big wood.... So torque may be lacking.... Anyhow looking forward to whatever you do!
