- In this video I share my travel from Chiang Mai, Thailand to the beautiful and remote island of Koh Lipe. It is a bit of effort to get there, but I think it is worth it. I hope you enjoy the video and thank you for sharing your time to travel along as I go throughout Southeast Asia. I am headed back into Vietnam next for some more time in Saigon and Nha Trang.

Thank you so much for the video! My wife and I are planning a trip from the United States to Koh Lipe, and this helped with seeing what we were in for when it comes to some of the transports. If you don't mind me asking: where did you come from when you originally flew into Chang Mai? We're probably gonna have to fly into either Phuket or Bangkok, then fly to Hat Yai.

How long does it take from Koh Lipe to Hat Yai airport?
If I recall, the boat ride was about 1.5 hours, then the bus was another 2 hours. So I would factor (with loading/unloading/waiting) at least 5-6 hours to get back to the airport.
How far away is the airport from the pier? And how much did the shuttle cost? Also, is the speed boat a rough ride?
Hello Sara and thanks for watching! If I recall, it was about a two hour ride from the airport to the pier and the shuttle was about US$20. I think the phone number and website is on the van window in the video if you want to contact them. I did not think the boat ride was rough although one person did get a little bit nauseous. The tour companies have a good system set up so you will be in good hands.

@@bakwasworkss I went during the month of July and flights were easy to get. However, in peak season, you would have more peace of mind booking early. And another good thing is local flights in SE Asia are relatively inexpensive, so if something would change, it may not cost too much to change. Looks stressful
It can be for sure. Travelers just have to determine their likes and style. I didn’t feel stressed, but I had plenty of time so there was no worries. I can remember thinking how much effort it took to get there, but once I arrived on the island I was so thankful I had taken the time and effort to do so. So beautiful
