Let’s put ourselves in his shoes for a second. He’s young, lacks wisdom that age brings.
He’s on a path to grow his business (at least that what he thinks who knows) and she left him to follow a career dream. He tried to be supportive but the truth is he feels betrayed by her, she chose her career over him, over staying and supporting him. And he’s too young and too dumb to articulate his feelings to her. That he never wanted her to leave, but he didn’t want to seem like a pos if he asked her to stay.
He doesn’t necessarily have to be cheating, but by now he probably is because that type of betrayal is hard to over come (he considered it a betrayal). It’s a huge problem inexperienced people make all the time.

It is easy to judge from our perspectives and only having a few snippets of information. Psychologically, people have defense mechanisms in place to prevent them from being in pain and also to fight to maintain the heart’s deepest desires. What looks to us as obtuse is likely just a ramped up system trying to save itself from misery. Like an immune system in overdrive that might cause itself more damage/pain, such as the myriad of autoimmune disorders/diseases out there, such as lupus, type 1 diabetes, alopecia, rheumatoid arthritis, hashimoto’s, etc. We see the car wreck from our vantage point, while she (then) had yet to fully face reality and the glaring possibility of infidelity. When you don’t want to (whether consciously or subconsciously) face it, you hang on to any other explanation/excuse you can.

I love DAVE RAMSEY SHOW VERY INFORMATIVE AND INSPIRING WHEN.HE GIVE ADVICE HIS VOICE IS VERY CALM VERY ADDICTED SHOW.
My sister and her husband made long distance work for YEARS. Boston, DC, Philly, LA, Houston. Every few months one of them was relocating to a new metro for a promotion. They still saw each other regularly. With their income a weekend flight was a non-issue.
Dave and Ken were quick to assume the worst, which may be true, but it also sounds like the husband is in significant denial about his business failing.
Because it is the worst
