Such a great car. If you've never driven one I feel bad for ya. It may not be the best car in the world ever, but it is a real treat to drive. That exhaust note, that acceleration, the nimble handling, such a wonderful car. I worked at a Lincoln/Mercury dealer few years ago and got to drive a handful of these that came in for service. I always took special care in cleaning these because I wanted the owner to smile when he got it back.
3 years late! Re-watching years later and saw I had this liked... Technically the cable is not a direct connection to the throttle body and can be bypassed with the electronic crusie control. Its drive by wire but also sort of not. 01-04 Vics have the same system! A fitting addition to such a beautifully weird bird.
I own a marauder. It is not a rainy day car, because the power combined with posi rear end will put you in a spin. Watch what I mean at 2;33. He had the heads up to let off the gas. I saw him punch it a little on the 4th shift and thought "its gonna spin"...yep,it did. That guy could have totalled it easy.
@@CaptainCJ97tires are very important to rain traction, surely. If a car is very easy to lose control of in the rain, like the marauder sounds like, why is that? (As I don't understand. If you aren't stomping on the gas why is it still so easy to spin it )
Dunno if there are any in Norway, i do see the occasional crown victoria though. Don't even get me started on the Chevrolet caprice. Especially the 1980s ones are all over.
Glenni, that body type is pretty common. I almost bought a crown vic myself a couple years back haha But I have never seen a Mercury Marauder on the street or on any car sales websites in my area (Belgium, Germany, France,... those parts haha) Though I hope I will someday cause it looks awesome :D
A strange thing happened today. Pulled up by some kind of P71 Ford Interceptor at the lights today in Birmingham, UK. Weren't no marauder, just some v8 panther bodied police car replica. Had my window down and some pics Indian lad probably about 19 turns to his pal and says WOW That is the coolest car I have ever seen!" No joke, no sarcasm. I still think I was hallucinating but still it did make the whole experience of seeing a P71 in the UK even more memorable haha
I really wish I can ride a Marauder for once, to see how fast it really is, since it is the sleeper version of the Grand Marquis and belated answer to the '94-'96 Impala SS. So stupid the DOHC is only in this rare car while all the other Panthers within the 1992-2011 years had the weak SOHC. I know it's not the fastest car out there, plus ANY Panther can be modified to have 500hp. But I wonder which is quicker, an HO 5.0 Mustang or this car?
I think a guy who used to live on my street had a Maurader. I think he straight piped it. neighbors were complaining about it though so he had to put mufflers back on it
Beautiful machine! It's just that with Mercury Division now over a decade gone, parts availability is gonna be quite limited, not to mention expensive! I'd be afraid to take it out, even on a nice weekend!
Due to being a non-US resident, the first and only time I have seen a Marauder in person was in Wheeling, Illinois in November 2009, when I was visiting Chicago. Could it have been this very car? I like to think so :)
Jim Cameron, ahh delicious Labatts Blue bought IN CANADA. I grew up on the US side of Niagara Falls and the US Blue was watered down shit compared to the real Canadian stuff! Thing is, I don't know how you guys could afford to drink beer, it was so fucking expensive in Canada in the '70's and early '80's - I could only afford it once or twice a year as a treat! I bet it ALL tastes like shit now that InBev owns them. I quit drinking 27 years ago so it really doesn't matter to me much, but I feel bad for folks who have to drink that mass produced InBev shit they all make now.
Hey RCR, what is your opinion of the Nissan 350Z? I know you did a review of the 370Z, but while it was very poetic I'd like to get your actual opinion. Im looking for a cheap RWD sports car, and the Zs look cool.
had a 03 crown victory ls. 355's a true luxury sport. candy apple red .black leather. nice bad ass car for its day. ford ruined the ls in 04. only one year for a true ls. >10mpg tho
bigvirgotube a CV sport has slightly different suspension tuning from a base or a cop car. that's about it. Marauder is really it's own thing just because of the engine
Yeah...that seems to be the thing. The better 4.6 in the Marauder seems to really set it apart. Weird--because it seems like Ford let the Marauder finish..and then began having some weird second thoughts, and quickly came up with the CV Sport.
4..10 is way to low . The 3.55 factory rear actually have better 1/4 mile times . Moot to mention really confusing the PCM . Gas mileage would really take a hit also .
Actually, he is right, the first runs of the earliest marauders were in black only. It was only during the last few runs of the 2003 that Blue and Silver were introduced. In 2004 Black Silver and Maroon were the final colors available.

MAN_ON_WHEELZ that ass
It's definitely one of the best
the owner looks like a character in crazy taxi
rubberwoody lmao yeah he does. "COME AND DOWN AND PLAY SOME CRAZZZZZYYYYYYY TAXI" 🚕
Wow, the owner obviously has not changed since 2003
I guess immortality pops up how you least expect it?
THE BRAIN SPECIALIST thats literally 2003 frfr but gotta admit the early 2000s were awesome
MY BRAIN HURTS!!!
Is it a mechanical throtte? It is a... drive .. by .. cable.
Navin Isaac.... Or yes

As a brit, I see these Pantherbodys as the coolest fucking bad guy car / saloons !!
Advice from the states- don't meet your hero.
yeah... +1 to both of you
They're kinda cool. One of the last rwd American sedans.
Daniel D. More specifically last RWD body on frame American sedan (assembled in Canada though)
Daniel D. One of the last? You're craaazy!! What about Cts-V, G8s, Chevy SS. I agree with Peter too.
The seat adjustment thing on the door is a good QWERK
Daddy Demuro would love that
A lot of luxury cars have that, including the town car
Its definitely a 14 year old daily. Lots of little stuff is broken. Lots of the same stuff was broken on my old Panther.
"Dont drift, dont drift just drive normal!"
Drive by cable = mechanical. I'm sorry I'm old.
Seth Thomas cable is the best
Cable is great but it stretches over time
@@angelgjr1999 not really
@@angelgjr1999 Never heard of that problem, ever.
@plolp1234567890 Why? Apologize for being alive? Or have they passed away now so you are happy?

That's one car I'll probably never see in Europe :(
The Euro Car Show there is one black in finland

I drive that exact car to work everyday. Mine still has the original motor and gears. The best daily in my opinion

I want one of these so bad but the price for these is too high for what you get performance and equipment wise. But God they're majestic.
This guy was really chill
I have the first yr they came out 2003 Dark Blue Pearl

Why locked doors when driving? Are you in Detroit or something?

the doors on any of the Panther body cars lock automatically over like 5mph
Do they unlock when you have an accident/going slow? I would have them unlocked.
