This and Sybil "Don't Make Me Over" as well as "Walk On By" were on constant rotation on the radio back then!
You’re dancing though…. 😂
I Approve, Get It! 💃🫶🏻
This will forever be a bop! British soul at its best!!
This was my jam!!! A lot of the younger generation heard this song on "The Fresh Prince of Bel Air" reruns.
this was my jam too.... just clear my path to the dance floor at the club...circa 1990ish....
Caron Wheeler is the lead singer and Jazzie B is the group's founder.
May 29, 1989 is this song debut date from their second Album. They're from England 🇬🇧.
Well, there's a whole drama about Soul II Soul. I would consider Caron Wheeler to be more than the lead singer. She cowrote and lead sang their only two hits, this song and Keep on Moving. Jazzie was kind of like the sound engineer and producer taking credit as the founder and actual artists. But he didn't really write, arrange or sing their hits. That would be Caron Wheeler and that's why she left the group and went solo right after this song. People were calling her the lead singer of someone else's group and he was paying her like she was just hired lead singer, when she was so much more. She bounced and the group never really had another hit.

Ok. Thanks. I was almost 13 years old when this album debuted.

@@DT-we2yei love Caron…I own her debut solo album…I love it! It’s so good! I wish she had more success.
Jazzy B and s2s won a Grammy in 1989 or 1990 for this track. it was played in all clubs and crossed over on to the pop charts . this and the track Keep on Movin were BIG HITS in the U S .@@DT-we2ye
I just listened to this last night and Keep On Moving. This is a classic. It will never get old to me. Great choice. You never disappoint
The reason all the music and movies from the ‘80s and ‘90s is awesome is the fact that this was the pinnacle of American pop culture. We have degraded to something else. In all aspects, our culture is dead or dying.
American?
Soul II Soul and Carom Wheeler British, just to clarify. British music during the 80s and 90s was great.
@@TheAlmightyAss I was speaking to American pop culture. The contributions to our culture from the British is evident since the Declaration of Independence . Especially in the ‘60s British Invasion and in the ‘80s with New Wave.
1989...I was still in high school
I was in junior high.

29 May 1989 was the release date for this song.
I still stop what I’m doing to get with this groove. Over 30 years later….still jammin’.
It dropped in May 1989, 34 years old almost to the day and it still sounds and feels so fresh✌️❤
I'm convinced that most of Shawny's subscribers are Gen Xers like me, haha. Soul 2 Soul owned the summer in England for two summers straight and Jazzy B is a friggin' genius.
This joint came out in 1988 🤜🤛
This will forever be the Fresh Prince’s song! Love it
That episode was hilarious😂
I forgot about that one😂
Yup!!
I think of that episode every time 😂 with him hitting the running man lol
Major UK Soul right here. This was a huge hit back in the mid summer of 89.
There goes the big smile lol 😂
Can’t stay still when this song comes on, another classic❤️
1989 this track dropped, check out their tracks Keep On Movin, & Get A Life
It is so cool to watch the next generations listening and reacting to music from back in the day .
Glad I came across you because I think your reactions are for real unlike others. Keep reacting honestly to songs and I’m willing to bet your followers will grow.
Lmao look @ Shawny having a good time in his room lol
Classic from my childhood , Caron Wheeler’s voice is so powerful. ✊🏾💯🔥
Check out Caron wheelers I adore you, won’t be dissatisfied
If you liked Soul II Soul, you would definitely like the group Loose Ends also. They had hit songs like "Hanging on a String", "Slow Down", "Don't Be A Fool", "Cheap Talk".
This dropped in 1989 and was featured on the 1st episode of Fresh Prince of Bel Air!
"Don't Make Me Over"! (ARTIST: SYBIL) Definitely 90's.
Classic ! Soul to soul 💯
This dropped in 1990. Soul 2 Soul’s first three albums where 🔥🔥🔥🔥 Britain 🇬🇧 dropped a lot of quality R&B acts during this time such as Loose Ends, Brand New Heavies, Seal, etc.
Love Brand New Heavies: Dream On Dreamer♥️💯
Yeah Shawny, make sure you check out the Brand New Heavies w/N’dea Davenport “Dream On Dreamer”, “Stay This Way”, “Brother Sister”, Heavy Rhyme Experience, etc.
This song was number 1 in the UK for 6 six weeks in 1989. It was massive
Shawny was dancing like an extra in the House Party movie. You need more New Jack Swing songs like Guy's Groove Me or Fantasy.
Hey Shawny! Oh, this is my JAM!!! Nobody could sit still when this came on the radio!
CLASSIC 90s JAM‼️ Even though it was released in '89. This beat is thumping.
"Back to Life" was the second single from Soul II Soul's debut album, Club Classics Vol. One (1989); that awesome instrumentation you hear is courtesy of the Reggae Philharmonic Orchestra. The song topped the charts in the UK and peaked at #4 in the US. The group won their first Grammy Award for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal in 1990 as a result. Please react to Soul II Soul - "Keep on Movin'."
Well sir I think you got rhythm cuz as soon as that beat came on you started dancing just like we were doing in the '80s and I'm Mexican so you know we love to dance much love from SA Texas bro
🔥🔥 Still 🔥🔥
This song is still a BANGER !!! Play it anywhere and watch folk's toes start tapping & heads bopping.Remember sweating my behind off to this song in the clubs.
This and Jazzie's Groove are my favorites by them! What is Soul ll Soul? They are the funky dreads! A happy face, thumping bass for the loving race! ✌🏽
Love the reaction
Oh, man, an absolute banger! This was released in 1989 and I suspect many early 90s artists used this track as their template. And Caron Wheeler's vocals are amazing. Hit number 4 on the Billboard Hot 100, easily their biggest stateside hit!
I always loved the beat to this song... it makes you want to get up smiling... Song came out in 1989 I think...
Yassss this song would snap so hard back then and still does lol I believe it was 89’ when this dropped they had another prior to that called “Keep On Movin’”. Both songs have a meaning to them. If you have a chance look up the words to both songs. Also this song was on the Belly soundtrack. You have to hear Caron Wheeler on the remix. Thank you for reacting to this!!!!
Yes! The acapella version at the beginning of Belly, then that beat dropping in 🤯
Yaaaassss
This always been a BOP as you young ppl would say! 😝 I like how you be hittin us wit the shoulders! 😂
Still soooo freeesshhhhhhh
This was the song back in the day and it still holds up
According to Caron Wheeler the song is about a death like dream experience. That is why the song title is: Back to Life.
A classic that I am happy to see that a new generation can enjoy and appreciate a timeless piece of work.
This was the joint. When I first saw belly the day it came out in theaters it’s cause of this joint why it was so iconic
British soul at its best ,
Why a Brother started dancing at the same damn time!?😂🤣
Hey Shawny,
Thanks for playing a favorite song of mine. Stay cool
Hi Shawny, this is a favorite for me, timeless vibe, song, friends, and dancing...enjoy.☝️✨🤓
Cool reaction man (This is one of the best songs ever made (EXTREMELY sampled by many artists, across MANY genres)).
🔥🔥🔥This one is for the ages! Every generation gets to this song. I love the Belly movie version. It's Hypnotic! Kanye did a version of this song for his Sunday Service. Cuz of the association with Belly, Kanye's choir performed it at DMX homegoing service🥲
Best and most respected track 1989
Oh W🤩W! I have this jam . In fact I have their whole CD with this song. Thanks SHAWNY. 🙏🤩
My mom loves this song so much❤
I just heard this earlier today. Forever a classic! 💖

Great British soul
I heard it all the time on tv shows in the 90's, couldn't help but to like it.
I recommend Omar - There's Nothing Like This. Another fire British artist.

My exercise album
You might want to react to a classic funk/dance song called "Bon Bon Vie (Gimme the Good Life)" by T.S. Monk (circa 1980). It's jams hard! ;)
One of the group was my neighbour ..went to see them all the time..best group best memories of my youth...
1989 was the year.
This was a fresh new R&B sound at the time.
This song released and was a hit on the radio and MTV in 1989.
I hear this song a lot in the outro to commercial break for local NBA games.
This was the my jam, everyone knew when I showed up at any party that Marge was going to ask for it and
Return of the Mack
I'm surprised that you haven't had any requests for that song
1989 was the year
Came out in '89'
1989
Thus is a British group from London
fun fact thats Vivica a Fox as an extra dancing in the backround before she got famous
IT CAME OUT IN 1989
Strings in an R&B song. A first.
I believe either 1988 or 1989
Hey Hey..Play Back 2 Life (ACAPELLA)💥🔥💥
