Su is doing exactly what she was put on this earth to do. At 16yrs old, she absolutely owns that stage & has the crowd eating from the palm of her hand.
They have power over everyone :-) From an interview: Q : Do they show any sign of anxiety or strain before their performance? Koba : Well... half an analogy and half not, just like a god might come have them totally... their eyes do show something different on the stage. Something in them makes me feel myself smaller when I talk to them there. Even I feel awe a bit. About to get down on [near their] feet and say "Yes, your Majesties." (laugh)
⚡ 💀 💕 / 🌟 🎶 Tamashii no Rufuran (Soul's Refrain) was the theme song for first film in the Neon Genesis Evangelion franchise. The film and Yoko Takahashi's performance of the song were both released in Su-metal's birth year, 1997. Of course 'Legend 1997' was a pretty early BABYMETAL concert, so they didn't have as many original songs. Here's a translation of the narration before the song: The Second Impact. It was in the winter of 1997. It was the birth of a new warrioress who transcends the law of nature, "SU-METAL". Charged with the mission of the Metal Resistance, in exchange for her own life, she waged a battle in the legendary "special night of fifteen". Executing the Metal Resistance in many music festivals in 2013, SU-METAL made the legends one after another. Before the birth of a new goddess, she returned beside the holy mother. The holy mother said, "A soul is repeated. Return to me, tracing your memory…"
Sorry to reply to your post after 5 months, but I know you're a sucker for little details just judging from your posts (so am I btw). So, I don't know if you already know all this, but I'm gonna post it anyway. The song is the ending theme from the movie "Neon Genesis Evangelion: Death and Rebirth", which is basically a pretty bad summary of the epic tv series (minus the last 3 episodes) and a little bit of the continuation from "End of Evangelion", which is the continuation of the tv show story from episode 23 or 24 on. It's split in two segments, Death (the summary) and Rebirth (the continuation). And this song is the ending song from the segment "Rebirth". Which is super fitting for this concert and probably why they picked it. Also, the whole second impact thing in the video before the song starts is also a Neon Genesis Evangelion reference. The second impact was basically the end of the world as we knew it. The whole planet got destroyed and flooded and few cities and civilization survived. The series and movies are pretty deep and super complicated with a lot of reading between the lines, so it wouldn't do any good to try to explain it here. There are also other Evangelion covers from Babymetal (Tsubasa o Kudesai was definitely one), I think in the Legend I,D,Z shows IIRC. Always wondered if Koba or Su were fans of the series/manga.
@@ANDOR- That's great. It's often very cool (and sometimes just funny) when a reply to a UA-cam comment shows up months later. I was happy to see all of that good information you provided. I'll admit I never got very far into the Evangelion franchise. You're correct. 'Tsubasa o Kudasai' was performed just once, at 'Legend D'. Of course it was a popular song in Japan even before it used in an Evangelion film, but that use in Su's birth year of 1997 was definitely the inspiration for the BABYMETAL cover. I'm not surprised that Koba was all over something with Death and Rebirth themes. : )
Yep, they've been doing this for a long time already (10 years if I'm not wrong) but it even then it always fascinated me Su's talent at that young age.
She was only 15 when she did this cover and she blew the roof off the venue. Even scarier is the thought that she's only gotten better over the years. Just imagine her doing this song again at the age of 21.
Always nice to see a rarity. I recently got hold of the 6 DVD set of the Fox Festivals from 2018, months before Yui left, and attempted to upload some of the songs but got closed down within seconds. Shame as I'd love to share these recent, HD Blu-Ray films with The Ones out there, as it cost £499.00 for the set and there's none of it on UA-cam. Thanks for this song! Anything with the Goddess Su in it is always amazing - what a voice, what a woman.
Great reaction i also recomended this one on your reaction to Over the Future BabyMetal version . Definitely great performance by Su . That smile and the look in her eyes just before she blasts you back in your seat . Still laughing at the "i'm here" comment in the "Over The Future " reaction. 🤣🤘
yeesss,..finally you did it,.. this song was used in first film anime Neon Genesis Evangelion,.. there so many good songs from the series & one of them is "Cruel Angel Thesis" by Yoko Takahashi,..
This is a great awesome cover...I remember clearly the first time I heard this cover - I was watching the whole Legend 1997 and after "Onedari", came those narrations before the next song... now I don't read or speak Japanese (thanks for the translation @Rick Wagner) so I just figured they were talking about Su-Metal and most likely the next song would be a Su solo. Then the narration ended with a full crimson moon and so I said to myself "Oh great, its "Akatsuki" next..." and then she starts singing "Tamashii" and almost made me cry... as I was also a big fan of Neon Genesis Evangelion... so this was one more of those special moments that really feels like a Legend, a very special moment and Babymetal has so many of them and I can easily understand why sometimes I feel so delightfully entangled in this love for Babymetal and everything connected to them... anyway, summing up: great awesome cover!
Thanks to everyone who recommended this to him, very few people react to it (and many probably don't even know it exists, since it was a one-off thing a long time ago), but all cover the same few more popular performances instead. Which is a shame, because Su really lays down the domination hard on this one :D For a very different but equally amazing performance, check out the "unfinished version" of Akatsuki from the same show and bask in her glory :D
The show with Su's baby photos was the Legend D, held a year earlier on her 15th birthday, before she sang a 1997 song White Love - Angel Of Death version. There are some versions of this on UA-cam, but I couldn't find one with the preceding intro and photos. Maybe somebody else has a link to that version???
@@NeonReaperReacts I've still not found the real version, but here is a short video with a couple of photos and some short clips that gives you an overview of Su's timeline and where everything fits in - ua-cam.com/video/Ak9lUmTV8Lw/v-deo.html
If you are doing this react then you must do Tsubasa wo Kudasai “Legend D” it is also from Neon Genesis Evangelion. Yui and Moa cry the whole time it is so emotional
Su-Metal killed it, gave it a tow tag and sang at the funeral. All of them are SO DAMB talented, I would fly to Japan just to see this band. TO HELL WITH MY SOCIAL ANXIETY!!!
In my opinion this is the best BABYMETAL cover version by far (actually the only one I deem worthy of a BM song). I know everyone else loves at least "Kimi to Anime ga mitai" as well, but for some reason it doesn't really appeal to me that much.
I might have a new favorite Babymetal song. Edit: I listened to this at least 5 times. I need to move on. One of the things as typical of their great songs is doing something unexpected in the song. For example: starting slow and then doing something fast and heavy or stopping the song and going in a new direction. "Headbanger" is another example of that.
Haha, same! :P "Kodde" here :) Thanks for reacting to the video :) One of your favorites? Yes, same. Have been listening to it nonstop since I found it :D Good reaction! Keep it going! Kitsune up!
You must see Roselia's version of this song! Babymetal was great but I think the arrangement doesnt match with lyrics. This music is about "come back to me. I am still waiting you" something like that.

Tamashii No Rufuran is one of my favorites too. If a person can't admit Su's amazing talent after seeing this there is no hope for them.
Agreed!
Su- realy shines with this song.
Not sure what it's called, but is this what they call a power ballad ? ;-) Because their is so much Su-metal power ! :-)
they took a great song, and took it to a whole new level! man this is so old now :) can't believe how far they've come! all hail queen SU!!
Yep, they've been doing this for a long time already (10 years if I'm not wrong) but it even then it always fascinated me Su's talent at that young age.
