Northeren soul (i started in 1972) is not about dancing. Its about the music. Then the dancing evolved. The black music singers knew nothing about Notheren soul. As it had not been invented. You think they thought lets make music thats never gona sell in 10-15 years from now the white kids in Britain will go krazy for our music. Music first then the dancing. The dancing that took years and years to develope. All different styles. Do your selves a favor. Learn the music. Then learn to dance to the music you love. Not the other way round. Let the music get inside you. It will shoot you onto the dance floor. Then you get inside the music. The dancing will just happen. BY YOU. not by some person telling you what to do. Its the music that tells you what to do. Express your self.

Let you little girl watch videos of actual dancers at actual venues. Different people dancing all different styles. Its not "come dancing". There are No rules. No set moves No judges. No set compulsery moves. All different. Hust like your daughter is different from every one eles. Northern soul dancing is the worlds FREE STYLE DANCEING.....FREE STYLE. FREE...... NO DANCE LESSONS.

Now I live in Cyprus and I was one of a group of people who went to a Northern soul dance night in a local pub and I was smitten!!! I found your videos on You Tube and here I am aged 75 learning Northern Soul. many thanks.

Fantastic. I was at that age when all the seniors were going off to Dance Northern soul at Wigan, Cleethorpes, I loved the music but really never had any hint how to dance. I have watched and picked up some bits and bobs but your demonstration is something to follow thank you at 54 im just getting started
really wished i knew about N S when i was younger and im from leeds music is brill and the dancing is great maybe to old to dance at 46 but the music makes me feel young thanks

I’m an American enjoying these tutorials of yours; when I have some time, I’ll practice these steps and dances my favorite old school music as per most Northern Soul videos. Also known as Beach music in the Carolinas (South, Myrtle Beach). I will enjoy working out to these steps and KTF as well.

I'm 46 today! used to go to a few NS do's when was in my teens then found raving! My husband has got into this and it's all we are playing at home now - kids love it too!! These tutorials are great for me (hunbby & kids can already dance like experts) but I'm finding really helpful. Looking forward to going to our first NS night very soon - hopefully one 'up north' so we get a true feel for it. Can't wait looks like a great friendly scene xxx
