    Howdy Clone Fox. I am building an E model currently. I clicked on this video to reference parts alignment.
    Your craftsmanship is top-notch. I noticed you have showcased the F model and the Growler. Funny thing, my son and his roommate from the Naval Academy(Annapolis) are both flying Super Hornets. My son is flying F/A-18Fs and his friend is flying Growlers.
    I am working out the kinks building the E model first. After I build the E model, I am going to tackle the F model. Hopefully I will have both done by July. My son should be back from his current deployment in July and I want to give him the completed F model as a welcome back present. But you never know what timeline to expect when a carrier is deployed. Just have to be flexible.
    Thanks for the videos. I was so stoked by your craftsmanship, I had to show my wife and daughter. Like myself, they are impressed by your craftsmanship.

      Hi John,,,glad you like them,,I've got to say, my favourite variant is the 'F' variant,,with the Growler, in second,,,I've not built the Trumpeter 'E' model, but I have built the Revell (brand new tool🤔) version not so long ago,,I wouldn't recommend that one, it's pretty bad.
      I hope your son is staying safe up there,
      What squadron is he with,,it's just, I love building the super hornet, and when I build another, I'd like to make one in that scheme, I like building aircraft that have a personal connection,
      I would be very grateful if you could let me know.
      Thanks for your appreciation.

      Thanks guy,
      ,from opening the box, to completed kit, took just 4 weeks for this Hornet, Trumpeter kits are a staple for me, so I know their flaws and what you can achieve,
      A Zoukie mura kit on the other hand, because of its complex engineering, can take up to 3 or 4 months.

    • @clonefox80
      @clonefox80  4 роки тому +1

      Hey man,,,, I mostly use Tamiya paint, but the range isn't that great, so I mix all my colours, the main grey colour for this was basically the lightest grey I could find, I think it was Tamiya 'royal light grey',,,then I'll mix it with a little 'German grey' and a tiny bit of ''flat blue'
      That's the base colour,,then it's just a case of 2or3 more coats,, lightened using 'white'
      adding.a.bit more white each coat.

      Yeah, the formation lights are; self adhesive luminous tape, activated with a UV laser pointer,,,looks really cool I think,,the only thing is, no matter how straight you get em, there's always one or two that just want to move slightly, you go back in and straighten it up,,10 min later it's off again,,,,, freaky.

    Hey Nick...If your gonna do that "Jug" next and u want see some actual planes while in country ( in England...) There's an old documentary on NETFIX about 20 minutes or so long. It was made during the war & goes into some detail about the daily lives of the pilots and the type of missions they typically flew. Including "THE HUN HUNTER" There's ton of great footage. Much of which is in color as I recall. Looking forward to the 47'.

      Did you build it and how did it turn out? Any tips or concerns about the kit? I have both the E and F. Our son is a USN Naval Aviator. He thought he was going to fly the E model so I bought the 1/32 F-18E kit when he went to the RAG. In the RAG at Oceana NAS, he flew both the E and F. Then at the end of the RAG training in the F-18, he was assigned to an F/A-18F squadron. He has a new appreciation for WSOs working in the backseat. A good and experience WSO really helps with the work load and task saturation. So as a result, I just bought the F model. Now that I am retired, I can start wading through my stash. But first off, I am going to tackle that F/A-18F.

      Hey man,,this trumpeter kit would probably take maybe a week, to build and 2 or 3 days for painting,,this kit has quite a lot of parts, typical trumpeter,, about 400, with all weapons,,you could go for the Revell, 1/32 F/A 18 E,, not as detailed ( parts count ), half the price,,ideal for beginners at this scale.
      Hope this helps.

    What brand paint do you use and do you prime the plastic before you start spraying?

    • @clonefox80
      @clonefox80  4 роки тому

      I use Tamiya paints for base coat and main paint,( mixed to the colour I want, ) they don't have the biggest range, but a lot cheaper for me than Mr colour ( £5 a pot in the UK ).
      For the weathering, I use mainly, Mr Weathering colours and oil paints,
      Enamels on acrylics gives a nice texture difference on the aircraft's skin.
      Thanks for your questions.
