Wish you would have done a video on a close up of the dithering process showing the AIM meter and the number dial process up close to get a better understanding seeing the meter references.. Thanks
Nice job on dithering. Its an important step in the installation process that I know a lot of techs skip. One thing I do differently on my roof installations is place the long monopole slightly above the bend of mast.
I know alot of guys do that because they were taught by directv to do that but the the mast is stronger when they are put in a pyramid form. It's basic engineering. Pyramid, Square and Triangle are the strongest bases.
When doing the fine tuning with the right hand screw, there is a rivet underneath the lock bolt for the azimuth. That rivet has a washer with mabe a plastic bushing. Is that rivet a loose fit in the lowest plate where it can allow movemenrt between the pole clamp portion and the dish holding portion of the mount. It's the rivet with the large washer, it is inline with the lock bolt.
Thanks, Joe. I just bought an AIM meter to realign my SL5 dish, HR20-700 DVR. The manual seemed a little overwhelming with dithering, entering amount of turns, fine, coarse, etc!. I just want to a basic accurate alignment.
Why did you only do one install video? I would like to see one installed on a quanzette building roof. As I would like to do the same thing. I figure that would be harder. Since you would have to bolt it through the tin. Instead of screwing it.

Love your videos! You explain everything so well!
Good video install
aight sorry! they don't allow us on top of roofs, always 3 shingles high, love the dithering
that sucks when u gotta swap the dish especially when u know its slightly bent but u cant get it to pass eiv

What is the name of that test set you are using
I use to get a lot of service calls for 775 it was always the dish.. They were using sat tune it was like National Service call day
Ya , usually lnb or PI is unplugged or on a switched outlet and it's off
I think you mean 771.
771 is the sat is out of tune 775 is no power to the dish so either bad splitter, lnb,or line.
or power inserter
Love your meter. Which brand it is?
Joe S how often should you have your signal checked?
Shouldn't need it for at least a couple years unless you have trees around....and it was installed properly
Is there a complete tutorial on how to use an AIM meter for a hobbyist? Just got one and it's seems pretty involved!
Not really.. The training on the AIM is for Directv techs being proprietary... If you have questions I can help you through it...

Bro you would move much faster if you didn't use a socket wrench on everything
Get you an impact drill and deep sockets
I'm not interested in moving much faster..... I'm interested in doing it right..... I'm not in any hurry.
That dithering process though right was way to long there is a much quicker way now lol
If you are talking about sat tune, it is not as accurate.

can i have the tp freq and and polarity for DTV Latin America
I'd have to look them up.... but the Hispanic channels come in on the 119 sat if you want to look it up...
What is the IRD connection on the AIM?
It's for Performing an In Line Test so you can determine where a problem is in the system from the IRD to the ODU
manuals.solidsignal.com/DIRECTV_AIM_Manual.pdf this will help ya out...
Thanks, So not needed for alignment.
Nope
wowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwvv
Why didn't you bolt the mast into a rafter?
I did
very cool
you forgot your self tapper.
No , I didn't
the dish is to close to the edge of the home, weakness, bring it back about 3 tiles and its a perfect install
sajen23 no. The studs are along the edge.
You have no idea how to install a dish properly........ I bet you work for a sub... and have back charges out your wazoo
How's business these days?
