You should not need one Bungy gate for every paddock. There should be one paddock accessible to the waterer at all times, right? So ((number of gates) minus one) should do it, assuming the gate sizes are all similar or the bungy gates stretch to fit.

Only good thing out of it was being able to visit & see my daughter grow up and now she's has blessed me with 2 wonderful grandsons. They live on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington state and do permarcultue type small scale farming and raise poultry , organic style. They live in a town so are somewhat limited on what they are allowed to do on their large house lot.
The conductive bunjie cord it pretty cool. Cap your posts and they'll last much, much longer. Even galvanized pipe will succumb to the standing water inside it, especially since some of coating will have been abraded during the drive down. Your frequent interaction with the cattle will make them much more cooperative with everything you have do with them.
we don't have to cap the posts my friend....I hear ya...however when you cap the post you don't allow it to breath and evaporate the moisture from the ground....so..eventually the post rots due to humidity and condensation inside the post. I have 1000 posts on the farm and only about 30 of them are capped my friend

you do understand that these are insulated and that electric fences with metal posts are in use all over the planet right? 99% of the posts on the farm are made from steel....they won't short out if you install the fence properly my friend

they are moved 2 times a day so it's not like they'll be here for longer than 24 hours my friend...that's the whole point of rotational grazing and keeping the waterer within 800 feet of the cows all the time...they come individually to drink and therefore no mess....they've been drinking out of this waterer for several months now with no mud hole so why would this change it? They actually have more room now which means less pressure on the soil my friend

lol...don't believe everything you see on youtube brotha....how on earth someone thinks they're gonna drive a pipe in the ground and get water is beyond me....remember the dirt you drive it into comes right up into the pipe and blocks it
He probably used a sand point. They work well In places like Wisconsin and Minnesota where it’s mostly sand and the only work down-to about 30 feet as it’s a 1.25” pipe and that is about as far as a pump can lift with that size pipe. I have a spot on my property that I am going to try one that is all sand but I am not sure if the water will be shallow enough so I will dig down another 10’ or so and support the sand so I can get the water to a tank and then pump it out of there to the garden/animals.
woah!!! No!!! Don't put it near your high traffic areas....and I'd suggest using trees v/s structures or you'll have a huge mud hole. If you're gonna intensive graze like this just be sure you leave some trees or some sort of shade for each paddock...not so important in fall, spring and winter...but summer heat it is very important. Look at Polyface farm's "shade mobile" idea but don't put it near your water...put it in a spot that needs nutrient...the cows will poop, pee and revitalize the earth under it

Well...the cows have to drink for sure...however moving the cows 2 times per day will most certainly cut down the traffic on the land and having more space around the waterers will really help me out

Another expensive tool or can you rent it. I used to have a post driver that I rigged up on the side of my bucket it swiveled and I could just push the t-posts in the ground , worked great. Saved my shoulders and arms. Never had to put posts in that deep, but I did set alot of chain link fence posts. Does that require high flow on the hydraulics? Pretty neat!
there are 1000 posts on this farm and none of them will crack from freezing water...it's the same concept as an ice tray..it's open at the top so it can't bust...plus it's in the ground below the frost line and conducts heat upward...I've never seen ice in any post on the farm my friend
15 feet twice or 30 feet is not much room for the cows to bunch up around the waterer. My suggestion is about 20 or 25 feet each way for that extra room.
man...Roy folks just aren't gettting this concept my brotha....the whole purpose of mob grazing and placement of the waterers is so they don't mob around the water tanks. When cattle are less than 800 feet from the water source they don't mob drink. They drink individually in this setup and the area is tight enough so that they don't lounge in the water tank coral. They've been drinking from this waterer for months now with only 3 feet of access and it's worked awesome. Just a little cattle science for ya buddy

at 20:29 it looks like the insulator for your hand is pushing the other other line against the pole wouldnt this ground out your circuit?

If I need to test it I simply take a step in post...ground it and listen for the "tick, tick" of the fence charger and sparks typically fly
