I COMPLETELY agree with this, its like buy this garbage hardware, that has a tiny screen, unless you go the tablet route and you still can't get a 16x9 screen or even a slight sacrifice,with a 16x10 screen/18x9 will be forced on you/devices are definitely getting more and more powerful, now days, but I wish game streaming wasn't a thing, because I think game streaming is going to kill offline/true mobile gaming/if the hardware degrades, to lower the price of the device and its lowered, because the device just needs a decent screen and a good wifi chip and a subscription,because a machine in the cloud, is whats actually running the game, plus you cant control your network, while your out/you can't make sure your connecting to a router thats 200+$/thats 5GHZ, with good internet, so none of this is going to matter, if you can't control the network, if the device can't run games on its own. Also a bluetooth controller, that will do the job, is like $20,also Android, is a better OS for all of this/more Android devices are in the wild, its based off Linux, it makes more sense, also a Switch or a Steam Deck, will give you a 16x9 or 16x10 display, also the Nvidia shield tablet and portable are options for retro gaming and SOME higher end games, granted, this is coming from someone who doesn't own an Apple Device and that has a Razor Phone 2, for 16x9, I also use an OLED Switch and most recently a Steam Deck, I also use a 30thousand MAH battery. I just don't think a proprietary device is needed for a universal task, sometimes you can get a better experience going the proprietary route, but sometimes the universal product is just as good or in this case, as of now, MUCH BETTER.

I’m worried on about two things. First off, I’m worried that it won’t work with the 12 or 13 models, if it is magnetic, I don’t know if it will work with earlier models. My other worry is that, it’s fitted to the pro max size, and it might be too big for other sizes and only work with the pro mac models. (all tho, apple could just make other sizes so it’s not a big problem)
I had a PlayStation phone…it sucked. Underpowered and touch joysticks were a horrible idea. I ended up getting an iPhone 5 afterwards since iPhones had better performance.

I think that a subscription service with only micro transaction free high quality mobile games could work, but I don`t really see them having much success outside of the casual side of gaming, unless they go the microsoft route and try to make their service accessible to as many devices as possible and not just apple stuff (granted gamepass on mobile is done through xcloud and your mileage will vary significantly based on your internet connection, but my point still stands). I also don`t think that they would become a serious competitor to the switch or otherwhise any time soon, because as much as they might have a strong offering of indie stuff, I doubt they have much in full nintendo quality games, not to mention that I would personally argue that Switch is THE place to play indie games on the go, and pc (obviously) being THE place to play indie games at home....
I agree it would be a hard sell to say they could come out with a Switch competitor. But that’s not to say they can’t find success. I would assume they’d try to take a page out of Microsoft’s book. The most realistic application I can come up with (and forgive me if my verbiage isn’t the best) would be if Apple could come to a point where they’ve made a home console and mobile gaming device with all the pros of the PS vita (adjusted for the state of tech at the time) with none of the major cons; and a wide assortment of games playable on Mac OS, iPad OS, and TV/Console OS. If I were to design a phone controller, it'd be a case with four buttons on the back for your index and middle fingers. Movement and camera using touch, the buttons for the rest. UI obviously would be touch.

@@JuanD817 that's actually not what I was talking about have you seen the PSP go? The controls slide out when you press up on the screen. It's like one of the old texting phones where the keyboard would slide out. The sliding mechanism makes it more compact it makes the device thicker but you're usually not going to notice that in your pocket you are going to notice if your phone is larger lengthwise not width wise
It'll be a Switch style dock made for their phones where the dock is basically just a USB-HDMI dongle but it will be a box shaped housing with active cooling on both sides that you slot the phone into sort of like the OG NES.
Snap-on-add-on-cons with recessed magnetic seating (flush/uniform) within AppleTVpro's chassis. Ipad style charging. A home of sorts. That's what I can dream up. Maybe they go exclusively magsomething charging with these? Doubt they'll actually ever ship or make a controller though. Cus the iPhone IS the controller to them. The "console" dream feels as far fetched to me as the idea mentioned above, but a pro and a non pro appleTV seems almost kinda right around the corner with all these rumours about a budget appleTV in the pipeline.
They can possibly sell these if they can make them compatible with most cases. If not they wont sell as much as they think. Also they can bundle them with iPhone purchases with 1 month Apple Arcade subscription.

As a mobile gamer, having a controller isn't really an essential thing for us, it is more about if we actually want it. A lot of people are fine without having a controller, heck i know a lot people that can easily quick snipe in cod mobile. Though it is just an issue sometimes because we feel like we clicked the screen already but nothing happened, Another issue is that our finger don't really glide well against the screen because of out sweaty fingers. As an xbox play iĺl admit the new dualshock for the ps5 is wayy better than the xbox controllers, even the series 1 and 2. I've owned both and they're built like lego even when you treat it like a thin porcelain pot they just degrade way too fast, I don't know about the dual shock durability but it's features just on a base edition controller is way better in comparison.

Ok hear me out. Apple makes an actual smart tv not just a box and rebrands it’s Apple TV as the Apple Game Box. It would let them get into two new things at once. They could make it work better with your iPhone then a Samson tv would. Apple home already has the ability to link your phone to your tv and knowing apple you would be able to do so much more if it was there whole tv. Another option would be make the smart tv a gaming system too but they wouldn’t make as much profit that way.

Since they run mainly on mobile devices with mobile processors, people will not play GTA 5 on an iPhone with absolute potato quality. Maybe kids will play they don't care as much, but any big games I don't think people are gunna be playing on their phones.
