- Is your 15 - 18 month old still not walking and you’re wondering why?
Check this out
If your child is developing typically in other areas of development, there are no known conditions that would effect their gross motor skills.. and your child’s range of motion and strength are within normal limits… you might be feeling confused
With the help of a PT we discovered that Nya’s case it is two fold
Though her strength is within normal limits, her developing core still had her feeling a bit wobbly so
She decided pretty early on that she would prioritize stability over mobility
Which looked like locking out her joints in a-typical positions which limited her ability to move and ultimately slowed her gross motor development
We are now working to break these neuro-motor patterns and create new pathways that are much more functional for her development
The Second piece of this is to feel safe in becoming more mobile, Nya requires more sensory input to help her control her body in space. This means a lot of proprioceptive activities before working on waking and also using kinesio tape!

This is encouraging because this is exactly what my 18 month (16 month adjusted twin boy) son is doing. His twin brother is walking and has been for awhile. We have two older kiddos too and we’ve never had any of them fight standing as much as one of our twin boys. We have OT and PT and hoping to help support him in the best way possible.
Another tip:
Check to make sure your environment is conducive to walking.
My first child started walking at 11months and my second child started walking at 7 months and by 12month she's Already running......so development are totally different.
Babies walk when they get good and ready my son started to walk on his 1st birthday but my daughter did at like 18 months
I hadn’t heard of “late walking” explained like this!! My almost 14 month old is starting PT for this “issue”. Thank you for making this video! It makes much more sense to me now. I just saw her being more comfortable with crawling and thought we should just let her be.
14months can walk with lit help! Usually 19months is when they start walking by themselves. I'm a student nurse and I'm learning about it now
Physical Therapy seems like a waste of time. I have never known a baby that just didn’t learn how to walk (unless because of a disability)
@@Peacefulpig hey..my baby is 19 n half month old...she walks very well by holding one of my hand..but not isolated ..not even a single step...as I leave her both hand..she sits there immediately...how can I encourage her to walk...I m worried alot

My daughter could walk back and forth between us at 8 months, but she would get super excited and jump at us when she got close. It helps to do excercizes like that with them on a daily basis!
Hopefully most people can achieve this with advise from experience family members gramas and dem 🙏

My 16m son doesn’t walk yet. He’s only just started standing on his own occasionally. He “crawled” quite young but bum shuffles. I think his core isn’t strong enough
I heard bum shufflers take longer to walk
My son didn't walk till he was 18 months old. He didn't crawl till he was nearly 12 months as well despite showing signs of leg strength and stability at just 5 months old

Whom so ever reading this baby dint walk till 18 or 24 months re normal i will say from my own condition i started walking when i was 36 months and my elder sister started walking at 4 yrs very delayed yet god has given us strength and our iq is normal we both re docs here in india and in canada so don take so much stress
Why u didn't walk upto 34 month any muscles weakness you reach crawling or not pls sent msg to me bcz my baby also didn't walk now she is 18 month she walk with support what happen in your story

And how can I assure my baby to walk without fear, she is a little scared to let go of support and attempt to walk on her own.

While my 6 month old is balancing standing on his own. He is so eager to walk and it makes me very nervous. His legs won’t stop moving. 😮 lol!

Now my daughter walk alone... These are the steps I follow
For one day she walks 3hours...
(Morning,mid, evening)
Within one week you see the results....its a happiest moment

Should I be concern?
Are you pushing her to get to that point of walking? If you are truly than that's great. She is older than 1, so yes do what you can push her to her limits in a kind way of course. My son is 13 months as well and he doesn't walk. He should, but he doesn't want to. He can, but chooses not to. I am not concerned. Yet, it is a delay I am not going to lie. However, as a Nanny I did take care of kids around that age and for one the first day of not allowing them to crawl, but only walk became an official walker that day.For some kids all they need is a consistent push and if so you don't want to prohibit that. This whole saying roaming around to let them learn at their own pace is silly she's a child. They learn by your pace. They rely on you. Yet for my son I continue to teach him but he doesn't like it oddly so. Yet there's nothing wrong with his legs or anything. The saying goes that boys are more delayed but not all so perhaps my child is one of those boys. No need to worry. A pediatrician will keep you in the loop too

@@ayrinsworld4878hey....she started walking exactly after 2 years n 10 days,....(Consult a lot of doctor..get so many tests done...but everything was normal )

my grandbaby came to stay w/ us this month @ 10mths. he could barely sit up unassisted, kept toppling over, and could barely crawl. after just a few weeks here, w lots of free time crawling around and using the walker, hes sitting up fine and crawling fast. today, he pulled himself up to a standing position using the ottoman. im confident he just needed more opportunities and freedom to move around. im thinking hed been confined to a playpen back at home 🤨
