Carlos Alberto was a very troubled person, in spite having a lot of talent... He didn't work hard and was a mess of a person (he needed someone else always checking out to not get into trouble and Porto did it very often).
He didn't fade away, he got sold , spent two years at sporting and decided to retire in Brazil. I loved watching play for Leiria and Porto, but we porto fans always knew 95% of those players were playing levels above their actual ability merely because mourinho made them believe they were the best in the world. But Derlei had a solid career

Derlei was never the same player after the serious injury he got in his second season at porto, thats the real reason he's career never took off after porto. He played for Benfica and Sporting but he never got nowhere near the level he reached at Porto.
