Alimentary french hahahahahaha. It is possible to learn another language without ever having gone to school. I know what you mean though. Lingala has a limited vocabulary of 200 African words only. The rest if French. It is so inadequate that when they changed the name of the country to Zaire, they thought it was a local bakongo word. Only to be told it is an old Portuguese word for river.
Zaire isn't a portuguese word for river. It isn't a portuguese word at all. It comes from nZAdI o zeRE. The river that swallows the others. Most Zaireans talk mostly lingala or Swahili. French is spoken by politicians in Kinshasa only.
