    As a proud owner of a Woodlore and a Jacklore, I can tell you that they both cut, they both have scales, a fire steel is easily used and they both have a sheath! I like both of them.

    That red stitching on contrast with black...What a beautiful sheath!!!

    You are now the proud custodian of an original R.M. / A.W. Woodlore mate, and what a very generous gift, but in all honesty Sandy I prefer yours and am proud to have one, have a good show day and maybe see you there, atb to you sir.

    Those knives Sandy are beautiful and though I am not a knife person I appreciate the skill and effort that must go in to each and every one of them. Each knife unique, one of a kind with your heart and soul contained within. Who would not want to own one of your knives. One day I will :)

    Beautiful and most fitting gift! The Ray Mears-Alan Wood original is a well deserved reward for all the work you put into each of your knives. You charge a very fair price for knives built to the highest standards. Happy to know that you are now the owner of the prototype!

    I didn't see a knife that wasn't just beautiful! I'd be proud to work with any one of them.

    I have no interest in knives, but you can see the hard work that goes in to making these knives. They are of quality and craftsmanship that would be hard pushed to better. Yet another great video.

    Hey Sandy, your knives are all a works of art and would love to own one. Thanks for making that great comparison on the woodlore and jacklore . If I had to choose I now know that I would prefer the jacklore. Keep up the great work so maybe I could own one of your knives one day Sandy .

    Wow...What a gift.That woodlore knife sent me on a journey searching and hoping that one day I would have one of my own. That's how I found you Sandy.
    I will always cherish the day that I opened your parcel to hold my very own Jacklore knife.You just have to look at them together.
    All the best at the knife show...You'll sell out quick.
    Cheers....Kim.

      Thanks Kim,
      The gift of a Woodlore by Alan Wood was most unexpected I can tell you. I think it is quite an early model as later Woodlores have slimmer scales, but even though my knives are good there is something about that Woodlore Logo. It is an awesome logo. Having said that so is the ancient Uffington horse which is my logo:))

    What an incredible gift! Although I hands down prefer the Jacklore...which is why I'm coming on Sunday!

  • @rialobran
    @rialobran 7 років тому

    While you are putting the Woodlore on the mantle piece to admire, 20+ people will be doing likewise with their Jacklore knives on Sunday evening. Simply the best. :)
    The GF knife in stainless with a kydex sheath would make a great bushcraft/canoe/boat knife.

  • @craigmooring2091
    @craigmooring2091 7 років тому +1

    I love yew. But then I love all the wood handles you turn out; I just don't see that much yew. It has a rich, warm, buttery look. Owning a Jacklore is sort of a pipe dream for someone of my means who lives 7,000 miles away and, consequently, can't get to the UK knife show. Oh well, your work is so meticulous and beautiful that I would be sorely tempted just to mount it in a display case, even though they are clearly meant to be used.
    It's exciting to see you're branching out into stainless and kydex. I will be eagerly anticipating those videos, too.

    I have a SWC made Woodlore and had 2 chances at an A. Wood version, 1 was brand new as i waited 6yrs on the list and the other time was an old one like yours. I didnt have the $800 odd dollars at the time Rays store emailed me so i had to pass, and i should of grabbed the old one but didnt. Oh well it is what it is, great blades you've crafted Sandy, cheers mate ; )

    Sandy, You have said many times you would like to attempt a stainless steel knife. How about a stainless double or single edge full tang hook knife for carving wood spoons etc. May help you familiarise yourself with working with stainless material. Just a thought... but would look good with spacers and stabilised wood handles and your custom mosaic pins.

    Fantastic as always Sandy, would love to know what you think of the Ray Mears style sheath. Kydex is good stuff, all you need that you may not have is an arbor press, but you can get by with a drill press, and the eyelet setters of course, get the pro setters as they are better than the cheap ones. Oh, just be careful with kydex on wood, kydex has a Rockwell of around 90 and can pull wood apart due the the friction fit, you may want to switch to micarta for kydex, I have unless I am working with a very hard wood like lignum vitae.
    Interested in what sort of stainless you are considering. Good luck for the show, Shelley.

    Excellent stuff Sandy. I like the new deer knife a lot. One quick question for UK deer processing going into the food chain I was told sometime ago +10 years back deer processing knives must have plastic/resin handles from a food safety perspective. Personally i'd much rather have a nice stabilised wooden scale on a knife and i think really because of the stabilisation process they would be exactly the same. Probably just UK Health & Safety gone mad. Or maybe theres no truth in it at all? What's your experience or thoughts? Atb. James

    • @FGYT1
      @FGYT1 7 років тому

      James Lawson stabilised is non porous so is suitable as are carbon knives if you look after them

    • @A.J.Lawson
      @A.J.Lawson 7 років тому

      so the UK food standard agency allows venison processing with stabilised wood knives? If so this is cool! This was my original question not if O1 Steel or similar is suitable rather the scales / handles themselves.
