In the world of music I dont think Mike Joyce gets enough respect. His drums on every Smiths track is perfect. He is so technically proficient its jaw dropping. Definitely one of the greatest drummers of all time.
well said, he plays well and is the backbone of each song's rhythm. same with Andy too, you need only listen to tracks without the bass or the isolated guitar tracks to realise how thin and hollow the songs sound without Andy.
Mozfather ain’t exactly indulging his other 3 kinsmen either - rock n roll. True to the end. He says he dunno here. This artist knows the lot - all in the songs. Still ill - still genius xo ❤
treasure this archive morrissey can sing here every note no problem even more bold & exotic than i remembered before the world knew we watched his majesty
I have no words to describe Morrissey's beauty. He looks like an angel, an incarnate poetry. He's beyond everything and everyone. Look at him, he's absolutely perfect in the smallest details, on the skin, on the symmetrically perfect features of the face, his voice is like a spilled perfume, the silky and smooth hair, his slim, white and delicate body, he's like a flower. He's a deity
Morrissey is also an empath, ( he sees and hears spirit) one of the reasons life can be difficult when it is thrust upon a sensitive person. Whether he understands this is another thing, but i suspect he does.
The first time I heard the Smiths was in Bhutan, a beautiful Himalayan country, driving through the windy mountain roads, looking out into the vast green expanses. Sublime
Love 'Still Ill' and love this version. The combination of Morrissey's totally unique lyrics and Marr's wonderful guitar at its best....btw the rhythm section playing their part as well.
I decree today that life is simply taking and not giving England is mine, it owes me a living But ask me why, and I'll spit in your eye Oh, ask me why, and I'll spit in your eye But we cannot cling to the old dreams anymore No, we cannot cling to those dreams Does the body rule the mind Or does the mind rule the body? I dunno Under the iron bridge we kissed And although I ended up with sore lips It just wasn't like the old days anymore No, it wasn't like those days, am I still ill? Oh Am I still ill? Oh Does the body rule the mind Or does the mind rule the body? I dunno Ask me why, and I'll die Oh, ask me why, and I'll die And if you must, go to work, tomorrow Well, if I were you I wouldn't bother For there are brighter sides to life And I should know, because I've seen them, but not very often Under the iron bridge we kissed And although I ended up with sore lips It just wasn't like the old days anymore No, it wasn't like those days, am I still ill? Oh Am I still ill? Oh
The boy with the thorn in his side he is after compressing those flowers on the stage floors. Also he decidedly donned dumbfounded diaphanous drapes in pink for this performance, so that's dope.
The Smiths were The Beatles of the 1980's. They made guitar bands cool again when it seemed synth crap had largely taken over. Morrisey demonstrated how lyrics could really mean something in popular music. Best all he made my national glasses cool.
Still ill in 2017 im 25 this music is before my time but it still crept its way into my music taste. Thats why these sorts of bands wont be done no more. Can u imagine people 30 years from now obsessing over taylor swift? Jesus if they did were all fxxxxxg dooooomeddd
RIP Andy Rourke, whose athletic bass played such a vital role in this amazing band’s sound.
A band that understood how to properly utilize the bass guitar. His playing on the “Meat Is Murder” album is typically fantastic
Best rock bassist ever.
In the world of music I dont think Mike Joyce gets enough respect. His drums on every Smiths track is perfect. He is so technically proficient its jaw dropping. Definitely one of the greatest drummers of all time.
FINALLY SOMEONE GIVING HIM THE CREDITS HE DESERVES! he’s amazing
Ifkr he’s sick
Agreed

His hi hat speed is awesome.
1:55 "I DON'T KNOW!"
I love he way the band totally ignore him no matter what he does - so cool
TBF he did the lying on the ground bit on this song every time they played it
A professional band, should always ignore the lead singer's stage act...
@@WesCronkel do you mean James Brown

It's staggering how much talent he had at such a young age
It is.
Yeah marr is incredible, or we talking about morrissey ? or Andy ?
plasticbudgie Whatever the answer is...let's leave Joyce out of it....
Iván de Nevares why ?

I've listened to this song so many times and it never gets old.
Too 😂😄👍🏻
Moz, that bassline & Johnny's absolute masterful guitar, there will never be another band who comes even remotely close to their genius. Ever.
Ima huge smiths fan n I’d have to say wild nothing is very good but I’d still prefer Moz n Johnny any day still
Why is it so easy to obsess over Morrissey
He is not really that unloveable as he may think
He cancelled his San Antonio show, which I had tickets for and still can't be mad at him so much as I am angry about not seeing him.
wut
I was just asking myself this question
Must be his charisma
We need more guys to dress like Morrissey in his prime years 😔
No we don't. Ask me why and I'll spit in your eye
@@guitarsANDcars39 lmao, im not forcing on everyone, just saying he has a good fit dawg
i'm pretty sure morrissey regrets dressing like that
@@decaffeinatedafrican5997 lol now that I think about it, most likely
Viva Wendy. U little Sweet heart . And if only the World had more or you .. viva Morrissey. ❤
A modern day Shakespeare... The Smiths & Morrissey are legends in the music world.. Always & Forever.....

Yeah could someone link the other song that also carries this same cadence? In the other song lyric was changed to “oh but often”?
as someone has said before, amazing, and morrissey, how can you look so silly, but be so effortlessly cool.
one of the most beautiful piece of art ever written
"AH DAHNO"
im amazed at how good this sounds for a live gig its so good.

One of those bands that just had everything.
My favorite Smiths song.
That guitar ❤️
Love of my life.
thank you Morrissey for sharing your life through poetry. it can ease the acting soul being tormented by a cruel world
Morrissey is also an empath, ( he sees and hears spirit) one of the reasons life can be difficult when it is thrust upon a sensitive person. Whether he understands this is another thing, but i suspect he does.

Best bass riff ever....it's what you're dancing to right now.
this is one of their best songs.
Pure skill and heart shining through. What a stellar performance!
Still Ill in 2019 because it's just not like the old days anymore...💔

Love this version
I would force-feed myself 10 blocks of tofu back to back just to go back in time and have a chance with him

Don't do this to the best band - Smiths
Thanks dad! I’m a millenial (and French) and that sounds fucking great... Is it a sin to be nostalgic for a period we have not known?!!!
Ps: if there is a girl Who is in love With The Smiths; let me know, I could marry you at any moment (for better or worse)
Joe le Taxi was great.
this is realmeme art, very beautiful.
So GOOD :)
great lyrics, timely but not preachy or too on the nose, dry, self-deprecating humor, just brilliant
Look at the little smile Johnny gives Morrissey at 0.23
The greatest band in the world in 86 and 87
A Bastille ad before a Smiths song, what an insult
The Smiths THE BEST
Só fã desses caras..
IS very easy, because ThE SmithS are the BEST band of 80,s
How charming is Morissey?
