AFF level 3 gone wrong, student spinning out of control. Failed.

- Two instructors,
1x practice pull
Stability (Failed, I spun out of control). One of the reasons was my body/mind co-ordination was off so my reaction time was not enough to compensate for the spinning. I also did not have a fixed reference point by the time I started spinning.
I was worried that I might end up with a line twist after deploying my parachute but thank goodness, the deployment went fine.
In scenarios like this or when you lose control, keep calm and follow the 5 second rule which says; "Incase you lose control, you have 5 seconds to regain control, if you can't within 5 seconds, pull regardless of altitude and body position).
I failed level 3 so I will do more practice on ground and probably also hit the wind tunnel to get my body/mind co-ordination straight.
Blue skies. !!!!
i mean you failed the course, but you lived to jump another day... I would say thats a pass lol... blue skies
Right, i still count this as a win regardless. 😁Blue skies.
Good Job! couldnt regain stability after 5 seconds, pulled like a boss. Thats a good failure. PULL, PULL at the correct altitude, PULL at the correct altitude when stable.
The student handled the situation pretty well. The majority of students wouldn't have pulled, but he did. The rule is: When you loose control or loose the instructors, pull, if it can't be fixed within five seconds. Good Job, bro!
Another issue since it was the students early jumps and a release dive. The instructors should have been able to close that distance. Or maybe there needs to be a re evaluation jump.
Very good student! Pulled when he lost control
This is not a fail *at all*. I think you handled it amazingly. Sure, if you would have been able to relax you would have gotten out of the spin but its AFF 3. Pulling was the perfect decision, you made the decision at the right time, and you pulled controlled. Worst case would have been some line twists (but your instructor stopped the spin so I would presume you didn't even have line twist)
You will improve, I did the same thing and pulled at 10k..............Your instructor caught you just as you pulled and saved you from having a line twist.
This is called learning. How to think under stress. Good job. Better to have a few Oops early than to start having them for the first time being solo. You'll be more confident that you can handle situations in the future.
Everybody spins at some point haha (happy memories of my own AFF course!)
It looked like luckily at the last moment the instructor was able to stop you spin at the last moment so you opening was clean.
Nice catch
That was close
If you’re an AFFI and haven’t had one of those…..you haven’t been a AFFI long enough.
He is spinning because of his hands, i wonder what kind of instructions they are given on the ground because he didn’t seem to have any idea what to do about it.
You clearly have never jumped once in your life.
Did you finish your AFF,?
Aunti M, Auntie M, it's a twister, it's a twister..
Hope ya stick with it, it is all just a matter of relax, your legs were causing this spin...way too stiff, and one straighter than the other!
poor instructors
Wow. His first HAHO.
How many jumps ya got now?
better then most
I just failed mine for the same reason. Videos on my channel 😄. Wind tunnel time it is!
Where are you in your progression now ?
i would want credit for when I have to actually do the spins ha ha. :) I hate that its a fail.
It still counts as a jump in the book.
WUFFO
You fail? #Shocked
😂 Surprise!!
That’s a first. I did some skydiving back in the 80s and the semi-joke was that black people don’t skydive.
I read through many editions of Parachutist magazine and never saw one brother ever. The experienced skydivers never saw one at any drop zone they jumped.
I wonder what possessed this guy to give it a go…but good on him.
