    I'm curious: why did you choose to tap the holes, rather than threadmill them directly on the CNC machine? I've used Datron's threadmills for many years, and they work extremely well.

      I do lots of thread milling with the Neo😉, but sometimes I don't have a NO-GO gauge handy or if I don't have a thread mill with enough depth. In this case thread depth was my issue. The Flex-Arm tapping machine is very fast and convenient!

    What kind of MRR can you get with a datron like this? It's an amazing machine, I just wonder how fast it can mill aluminum. It's kind of an interesting middle ground between a router and a mill, because you aren't supposed to mill steel with it, right?

      Most of my cutters are running 32-38k RPM, 150-200 IPM and 10-20% radial load. Depends on the setup, but it’s fast and super smooth! Some people are cutting steel and even tool steels. I don’t but reach out to Datron for more details on cutting steels.

    Help me understand this.. does the vacuum pump run full time? You can't hold suction with the Vacuum Card obviously, right?

    • @soliddesignenterprises
      @soliddesignenterprises  Рік тому

      Correct. The pump runs full time. The control has a minimum vacuum sensor. If in the process of cutting it goes below it will E-stop. The VacuCard is necessary for the system, but the magic is you can cut into the card, just past your part. So much more useful than other vacuum systems that use gaskets to seal off the part.

    Are you cooling just with air?? Nice job, but I think some tools could be much shorter?

    • @soliddesignenterprises
      @soliddesignenterprises  Рік тому

      The coolant is ethanol spray. Thanks! Ya some Datron tool have long reach but are extremely sharp and rigid being single flute. Yes best practice it short as you can get away with for best setup, I agree👍

      @@soliddesignenterprises And the alcohol disappears immediately? Do you even have to clean the parts after milling in this case?

      @soliddesignenterprises  Рік тому +2

      @@chm9400 Nope it’s cleaner than when I loaded the part.

    I see the ethanol sputtering a bit, does it typically do that ? ever had issues with ethanol stopping for a sec or so ?

    • @soliddesignenterprises
      @soliddesignenterprises  Рік тому

      There are 2 nozzles and they run only when in a feed motion(turn off during rapids to save ethanol). I went like 8-9mo on 25gal. Really efficient system and compared to running Synergy 735 in my Haas about half the cost without the mixing headaches. Seems like they pulse back and forth. I’ve had no issues with the coolant system. It is adjustable for pressure and ethanol volume. Also it will pause the program if the tank goes low. You fill it up and press go and it continues from where it paused. Great system and very surprising to me, someone used to flood coolant.

      @@soliddesignenterprises Oh ok. Thanks. I have been running ethanol for years, its great for sure.
      I used to have a pressurized system like datron but was having issues with a needle valve and intermittent flow, (tho I know the datron doesnt use needle valves). I run a pump nowadays so its all good.
      Thanks for the reply and the videos!
