Not at all: The Fortepiano by Silbermann is much nearer to the harpsichord than to the Steinway. The modern piano is a legato instrument. One of the most important things in baroque music playing is a rich articulation - with the legato as an exeption. This is stil so in Mozarts time. It was in the time of Beethoven, when the ideal has changed to the legato as a mean manner of playing keyboard instruments. There is a lot of sources about this.....even by C.Ph. E. Bach. Oh - nice to meet you here...:-)
@@danielungermann7055 If you listen to really good harpsichord players, you will notice, that he produces legato lines, perhaps as pure illusion, may be, but melody is the heart of music. And melody only functions if the tones are in relation. And Bach knew the legato lines surely, singing and organ playing is producing melodies and this means legato lines.
viel schöner als die neuen Klaviere!
Thank you so much... what a gorgeons instrument!

And the legitimation to play Bach on the modern piano.
