First of all, just because the Pixel 2 is (only!) one year old doesn't have to mean it's already time to ditch it. A good camera is a good camera full stop. If we had to change the phone we invest a lot of money in like every year it'd be just absurd. Now, speaking of the photos, the ones taken with the iPhone XS are generally more oversaturated and kind of instagram-ish. .The photos taken with the Pixel 2 seem to be more true to life. The Pixel 2XL also has better contrast and the shadows are not so overexposed as they are on the photos from the iPhone. Looks like there is a lot of software post-processing going on on the iPhone XS which is not always a good thing. The colors are also much warmer which I guess it's meant to make them more pleasing and summer-ish to the eye? I still prefer the Pixel 2XL camera. Sorry, apple, good try, but you're not there yet ;)

I disagree actually, I think the contrast here is a bad thing with the Pixel. Their harsh lighting, with deep shadows might look good at first sight, but in the end results in less quality to work with, and less detail.

I can see these differences without even zooming in much. iPhone just has that look to it. That professional look - due to the many layers of depth that it captures. most people actually prefer that. You’re saying you prefer the less capable, less advanced, and less detailed camera simply because you like the artificial sharpening it has.. Most people prefer to get more for their money. The only video I've seen that would even suggest that the iPhone might be better. The first few images, it looked like you didn't properly focus the Pixel. It usually has better detail than the iPhone. Not the other way around.
Seems Like Portrait photos on pixel are taken in a particular angle so that the pixel might get a little bit of lesser accuracy in edge detection, 5:26 clearly the shot is made to confuse google's AI With that black colored Door right behind the hair I might be wrong.
Based on your photos, it just seems it's neck and neck on daylight photos. Hit or miss for both. So a tie. Then you have pixel the lead with portrait selfies, low light, and video stabilization. Seems pixel is the clear winner.
Pixel messed the blur around rupesh's hair bcoz in the bg there was a shadow of something and pixel thought of it as rupesh's hair and messed there.. where as iphone didnt had to face the shadow..its minor but it should have been mentioned!

Software then is notable to decide which is your hair and which is background ao it is messed up a bit.whereas in iphone inuses secomd camera to do focal length calculations...also in iphone pics there is no black background interfering

because in all the camera comparisons that I have seen of the p20 pro it has really oversaturated colours so I think in dxomark the p20 pro won because of its zoom capabilities and the night mode in actual the iphone xs can beat the p20 pro
Much of the blurness was due to inaccurate focus which explains why both phones appear to trade blows. You should definitely take more shots per phone and compare them objectively

The only video I've seen that would even suggest that the iPhone might be better. The first few images, it looked like you didn't properly focus the Pixel. It usually has better detail than the iPhone. Not the other way around.

Your portrait photos have more detail in pixel. You have too much blending on your face in the Xs.

Based on your photos, it just seems it's neck and neck on daylight photos. Hit or miss for both. So a tie. Then you have pixel the lead with portrait selfies, low light, and video stabilization. Seems pixel is the clear winner.

Nice video... But take a note in some pics..... The pixel 2 has blurred out the phto at that perticular area is because of the black background in that area... Software then is notable to decide which is your hair and which is background ao it is messed up a bit.whereas in iphone inuses secomd camera to do focal length calculations...also in iphone pics there is no black background interfering

Much of the blurness was due to inaccurate focus which explains why both phones appear to trade blows. You should definitely take more shots per phone and compare them objectively

It's amazing that a year old device is still the best in terms of camera. Yes iphone may be better in some conditions but that that difference is like between 19-20.
