    I like how you simplified the form into basic elements. I'm ready to have a go. I have done horses, but never a cat!

      Thank you. My brain works better making things as simple as possible :D I think if you have done horses cats shouldnt be too tough as horses are a challenge too

      Thank you. I wonder if cats are harder for me because Im not a cat person either, with the dogs it was easy to ask my dogs to pose in certain ways.
      Good luck with the cat - I have warned you :D :D

      Thank you. I am not 100% sure there, usually I use a 38 or a 40 gauge needle and usually a twist needle

    I honestly find it easier to make cat heads than dogs heads-
    Cat body harder though..

    Hi do you have a small cat head tutorial to go with the the small cat tutorial please

    • @PamDuthie
      @PamDuthie  3 роки тому

      I do have several, this one might best - obviously make the back of the head round not flat but the features are easyish (cats are hard) ua-cam.com/video/ol7jSY-4MEM/v-deo.html

    I usually work at a bigger scale than this but I will have to try this method some time because gosh it's so tiny and cute!
    I always find cat legs the most tricky part. And sometimes the belly too, since cats tend to have flabby looking bellies compared to dogs lol!

      @PamDuthie  6 років тому

      Joie Lehman yes legs I have struggled to get even. Its funny anything I've tried art wise I've always worked to a small scale.

    Thank you so much for sharing your tutorial on making a cat, you make it look so easy, but it's not. I have commented on your felting before and said to you I am new to felting, but I do like it and have made two little dogs and a Betty boop face, but I keep st abingdon myself still, so I could never do it like you do it, but I have bought a pair of leather gardening gloves, so I'm hoping to try and do a cat with those on, so thanks again x x

      Leather gloves sound like a good idea :) let me know how you get on with them. I am the most clumsy person in the world and I do stab myself way way less than I used to :)

    Thanks for the helpful video. Do you have one about making the head and attaching it to this armature? Why don't you use wire for the head? Thanks

    • @PamDuthie
      @PamDuthie  4 роки тому

      Hey there, I do have a couple of videos showing how I put one of my heads on the body (its a dog but the principle is the same) I do wire the head for my bigger items but honestly for the small ones it just makes it too fiddly, for me I prefer to make them seperate ua-cam.com/video/e-sxaKPT65o/v-deo.html

      If your sculpture is having trouble holding its shape try using a firmer wire

    When adding color to the final figure how do you keep the wool from tearing when posing the legs? Every time I make a new purse everything gets too loose and I have to go over again. Its not a big deal for me since I can do it no problem but if I sold a doll and it fell apart it wouldn't look good for me

    • @PamDuthie
      @PamDuthie  5 років тому +1

      Ive not had that problem - what I do tho is when adding the colour kind of felting it on all sides with the leg stretched out at its fullest extent and making sure its really firmly felted. Also I dont pose them much, once they are in position they tend to be there. I hope that makes sense? For a purse I would possibly wet felt it some to make sure its really firm

    Great video as always :^) Though I do have one question; is the carded wool you’re using more similar to a roving or a batt? I’m pretty new to needle felting, so I don’t know all of the terminology yet. Thank you!

    • @PamDuthie
      @PamDuthie  6 років тому +1

      That is actually a great question as carded is usually in a batt but for some reason this one product is similar to a roving while the fibers are not all aligned like a roving would be its in long strips that are easier to wrap. I have not seen another product like it
