Cool video. I was stationed in Panama on the Atlantic side in the mid-70s. It was a great place.

Nice job, Kate! When we went thru the canal WB on the Millennium, the rear gate closed prematurely, damaging the ship above the waterline. I think it was on the very first lock. After exiting on the west end, we anchored for approx 6 hours as they inspected & decided we could continue the cruise. That was 11 years ago, Oct 2012.

Thanks so much for sharing this! Loved transiting the canal. Did it twice. Once on a RCCL Ship and once on an Army LCM. Unfortunatly, they didn't serve any tempura or sushi on the LCM.

I've been enjoying your Captain's Log videos every day! Could you describe the command heirarchy of the ship in an upcoming video? You talk about the Staff Captain and various other bridge personal frequently, but it has been a little unclear to me about where some of those positions fall in the chain of command. I'm looking forward to your future videos!

I heard that going from ocean water to fresh water in the canal, the draft would change. Does that change the ship maneuverability? Make it harder, easier, or no difference?

Is the lake level still low? Went through last fall and lake was very low to the point they reduced the number of ships transiting the canal to conserve water.

You take it through the locks or the Panama Pilots (as they have full liability for the ship?) Or do you work the control sat the Pilots commands?
