  • Hey guy,
A handful of people ask me if living alone in Tokyo is dangerous at all, and honestly I tell them no more than when I was living in Melbourne. Bad stuff like this happens everywhere unfortunately. It just sucks.
I know this is different from what I usually post but I wanted to vent and talk about what happened.
Thank you again to everyone who msged me on IG. Your care and support mean the world to me.
Apologises for how goddamn tired I look in this video. I was up late talking to a friend and even after that I couldn't get in any decent sleep. I ended up waking up early today and going for a walk (lol believe it or not) to help clear my mind.
    Stay safe everyone!
Also sorry for being MIA with the regular videos. Hoping to get back on the bandwagon slowly.

That's honestly so scary even for me as a dude. I can't even begin to imagine how it is as a woman. Honestly, thanks for sharing because it offers more perspective into the issue and serves as a good reminder of the reality of the world. I have a little sister and I feel like I need to be extra alert next time I know she is out alone traveling or not. Thank you for sharing and follow your gut! Better to be extra cautious and paranoid even though it may unfortunately detract from your experience traveling.

I am super super cautious, and I would probably think about all those same things too (e.g., did he see my work bag? Etc). Glad you followed your instincts because they definitely kept you safe! Whether or not that guy had bad intentions, in the end, you got home safely. Thanks for sharing your story... some people ignore their instincts or just have never developed that sensitivity so this is a great reminder to just be aware of one's surroundings and to not be ashamed of taking precautionary measures no matter how silly they might seem. Truly, better safe than sorry. ❤

stef, you have every right to feel that way. he definitely was trying to pull some sketchy shit and I'm so glad you're safe. i was traveling abroad alone and some guy lingered/followed me for almost 2 hours. i asked some random person for help but they didn't take me seriously and ignored me. i ended up confronting him and saw that he took pictures of me and made him delete it. i was so scared and felt so paranoid my entire trip. please be safe and keep defensive equipment with you at all time!

I'm glad you're safe, try not to let this situation get you down too much though. It's sad that there are people like that in this world but unfortunately there are. I hope you dont have to go through it again. However I think it would be smart to try to carry something to protect yourself even if it's just pepper spray, I don't know how you feel about stuff like that, but the way I was raised was "it's better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it." That's your six scenes kicking in... definitely you did the right thing to walk a different way home to confirm he was following you. I was born and raised in the south Bronx of old New York City in the early 80's and I was so stupid when I was young and that six scenes would kick in when I knew I was being followed and going to get jumped. Glad your safe but careful he does not recognize you from your UA-cam channel and just be cautious for a bit until you can gain that trust again.

Firstly, you are a-okay to feel how you feel. I know it's so easy to want to shove the gross feeling away cus you don't want someone creepy + pretty unworthy of your energy to affect you. Feel what you feel, self-soothe, baby yourself or have friends support you, and express it through vlogging or writing it out.
Secondly, Oprah covers it in a few of her SuperSoul Conversation podcasts essentially with stories of how listening to yourself first will save your life in so many situations.
"The feeling itself is the warning sign. It's ENOUGH as an explanation to not keep staying in the situation. An animal who senses fear will run in the other direction. Humans are the only animals who sense the fear and walk right into the situation." -- Don't analyze your warning signs, it's absolutely okay not to explain yourself out of wanting to run or scream or dodge. Don't be polite when your feeling is warning you! I empower you to trust your feelings and honour them! It's totally okay to shout at him or scream at him just to scare him off too! It'll feel weird to do so but go for it.
    Here's the episode!
    ua-cam.com/video/dzxaZ3KGND0/v-deo.html
Also, never apologize for your discomfort, your feelings and experiences deserve all the space in the world and do not need to be shrunk down

Duude stalkers are so creepy and scary!!! If you live alone and travel at night often, pack pepper spray (if allowed in Japan) or some self defense items.
Another thing you can do without immediately escalating the situation is to glare every time you make eye contact and send "back off or I'll kick your nuts" vibes. You can also pretend to get on a call and speak English very loudly, i.e. "I will sceam so loud the whole neighborhood will hear, I've already told a friend, and you're messing with the wrong foreigner!"

Since she’s a local even more important is to simply address the matter with the lone stalker and try to do in a more public area if at all possible.
Have your phone ready and begin recording and say why are you following me. Most will just run away.
The situation is different if it’s more than one person and the person is a foreigner also. Not sure what to recommend. Hopefully the pandemic will be over soon and there will just be many more people roaming around where you can feel more safe.

Best thing to do if u can is call them out and show them your phone and that you’re gonna call the cops and or are recording them so they better gtfoh before the cops show up
