Colonel E.H. Taylor 18 Year Marriage Special Release
Вставка
- Опубліковано 22 лип 2024
- This 100 proof Bottled-In-Bond small batch bourbon was put into barrels in 2002. Barrels chosen for this special batch release matured using one of three
Buffalo Trace mash-bill recipes including their wheated bourbon, rye bourbon #1 and rye bourbon #2. The whiskey from these 18-year-old barrels were married together. Like some of the previous releases, this one-time-only
bottling of E. H. Taylor, Jr 18 Year Old Marriage is very limited and prices at retail for $70.

Over 4K views and only a little over 300 thumbs up? Come on people, this man paid $85 to give us a good review. Give him a thumbs up 😄
Thanks for the review. Coming from other hobby markets, I can see that the secondary bourbon market is driven by scalpers/FOMO and is incredibly detrimental to the overall hobby, market, and significantly decreases the amount of people that get to enjoy allocated bourbons.
Props for spending the 85 bucks...True connoisseur willing to spend the dough to occassionally land on an immaculate gem.
This review should have instantly went to UA-cam frontpage trending, man is their algorithm messed up, they have no idea how important these whiskey reviews are.
I used to be a big fan of the EH Taylor series of regular releases. I used to see them on the shelf locally in most of the stores with a good selection in the first 2-3 years when they came out. They’re good, but none so special that they are worth what the secondary market is asking. BT lost my interest in this line when the special releases all quickly became unobtainium grade stuff. It’s a shame they don’t release a few more barrels worth of these batches, so that regular whiskey aficionados can find / purchase and appreciate the contents of the bottle. Well, the fact is that there plenty of other good or better bottles that go for retail and can be found regularly. Thanks for tasting and sharing the experience of the latest unobtainium! Life is too short to get frustrated about whiskey...cheers!
Just bought one, had a price tag for 2,399. I bought it for $130.00. Had to crack the seal in the store to show I was not going to resell it. My pleasure.
Love your reviews and your honesty. Glad you were able to sample it
Thanks for the review! I just landed a bottle of this today in a local small town lottery. 99 bucks!! And it came with the Taylor wooden case. Unbelievable luck haha
That's nuts! I doubt even with my annual Kentucky visits will I ever find it. Thanks for the review though, sounds very delicious. 🥃
More sippin less flippin 👊
Good review. It sounds very nice! But yeah man you're right, most of us will never see this one.
Great review Jason! Thanks for saving me looking in every crack and crevice for this. It’s a shame the bottle strokers and extremely limited availability make this a futile effort. Cheers!
The way he is describing this spirit you could call a desert whiskey. If there were ever such thing 😄! Awesome review brother keep them coming.
Finally! The bottle I have been waiting for review this year!
So you're saying, essentially, the people who spend $2k on this bottle just to have it sit on their shelves are fools. I absolutely agree. I mean I'm not trying to tell anyone how to spend your money people. But if you're spending $2k for a status symbol, you're a fool. Kinda like people who go out in wait in line for every single pair of Jordan's that are released. Some of the ugly damn shoes have had the name Jordan on them. But people will snatch them up and stand in line for hours to get them... Because it says Jordan.
Also... Great review once again. You consistently have the best reviews of anyone I watch. Ty Jason!
that straight rye behind you is my favorite ...getting harder to find
Great review!
Wow, I feel very fortunate to have had this last night at a local cigar bar for a $15 pour! All of your analysis was spot on brother, Cheers!
Thanks man! 15 dollar pour for this is amazing.
Great review! Any suggestions on websites for purchasing bourbon samples as you mentioned or bottles on secondary? Thank you!
Love the passion and resources put into these reviews/videos. Really new to the Bourbon world, where do people get samples of bourbons that they can't get locally? Mostly from friends?
Amazing review Jason! It’s crazy the difference between SRP and secondary. Cheers!
I know man! Crazy!
Thanks for another great review!! I truly appreciate you spending your own money for it also!
If I run across a bottle it will be just like my first bottle of IronRoot Harbinger 115. I’ll carry it with me and give all my friends one pour each... of course I’ll have a couple pours along the way for myself also!
Great review Jason. From the way you described it's availability at a fair price, I'll have a better chance of winning the state lottery lol. Great job as always
I hardly even see the regular small batch bib near me, finally saw it for $47 and grabbed it. If I saw this for 70-100 near me I would faint. Even non Buffalo Trace bourbons carrying an age statement that is old (12+) are hard to find under 100 bucks it seems.
Thanks for sharing review! Don’t think I will ever get to taste it 😃
Thanks man!
Same here
I’m with you. Who buys a bottle of this and doesn’t drink it
Wow! how much? I think I will stick with my 23 year cask strength Wisers at 150 Canadian. Thanks for the review
Wow. Local bar here in Portland is selling 2 oz pours for $30
Love the intro
A few days ago I was lucky enough to get a pour of this at a local bar. It's as you described, uber sweet, vanilla, etc. All in all I felt glad to be able to try it, if only so that I could realize I enjoy so many other obtainable (or thereabouts) bottles more. It's a hitter at retail, but I wouldn't go much higher.
Totally agree!
Great review and thanks for keeping it real and not buying into cognitive bias.
Great review, Jason! I'd love to randomly run into a bottle for $100 one day😄 Sounds totally worth that. Cheers buddy!
Definitely worth about 150ish..no more than that
The Mash and Drum I'll keep that in mind, J, cheers brother!
Question for ya, could this also be considered a four grain bourbon? Wasnt sure if it counts since it's a blend and not one mashbill.
Liked the beginning of the video! Cool to live the story of getting the bottle with you - now onto developing our own opinions on the bottle by hoping we can dream the price drops! 😃
We all can dream!
Got a Fourgate Rye today in the mail...good day to check the front door :-)
Mail day!!!
Where do you buy your samples from? I would be interested in buying some unicorn samples to try.
The bourbon sounds wonderful! We will probably never see it here in Tennessee and secondary at those prices-no way! If I got lucky and found it at 100 to 200--I would pick it up!!
200 would be the most I'd pay.
@@TheMashandDrum -agree!
Man I get excited for every review from my fellow Ohio-ian!!!👍🏻
Thanks man! cheers!
So usps is the way to go in Ohio! Thank you
Thanks Jason for the review. Why to rich for my blood! I will stick to my regular EH Taylor.
So I definitely get the cherry on the nose. But I got some smoke/char and believe it or not fresh blueberries on the palate. I did not get vanilla bomb from it at all. To me the palate was a shock. I wasn’t expecting the blueberry. I will let it open up and revisit. This was the neck pour. I did get sweet oak. I think it is a great $70 pour.
Steam heating wasn't added to the OFC until eight years after EH Taylor sold his interests in the distillery to his partner George T Stagg.
$2000+ for a bottle of *ANYTHING* reminds me of a sign over a urinal at an old watering hole of mine from the 90s:
You just *THOUGHT* you bought your drink....when in reality, *YOU’RE JUST RENTING IT!!!* 😂🤣
Yeah I was thinking it was the barrel proof. Yeah not for 2-3k
First off great video and channel appreciate you being the only one who has reviewed this. How did you get this..... heard they have been holding the release because of corona virus hasn’t shown up where I live yet and release was original set for June going on month number 2 now and nothing.
Someone was selling samples. I never got a bottle. Was able to get a sample to review.
The Mash and Drum ahhhh well regardless thanks for the review 🙏
Great review, Jason. Hot and bothered ovah heyah!
Lol. Yeah buddy.
Great review. Secondary market is ridiculous. People with more money than brains ruin it for the regular Joe.
That will be one that I pass on.
Where can I find a sample lol 😂 HELP
Great review Jason, but wzup wit a review on Hirsch?
Would love to get some but I have to go to Kentucky.
@@TheMashandDrum
Gotcha, well, I look forward to your review. If i get it before you, I'll let u know how it is.
It's Jeptha!
haha!
Great review. I haven't seen it on any of the markets available in VA, nor have I seen the Weller Single Barrell. Jason have you tried any of the Rabbit Hole bourbons and if so, would you be willing to do a review as I keep seeing them everywhere and wanted to know your thoughts?
Yes Louis...those reviews are coming up for the whole Rabbit hole lineup.
@@TheMashandDrum I appreciate you sir.
Now it’s $5000 bottle in 2023
Did it compare to any of your other E.H. Taylor bottles?
I like dit better than the Amaranth...but tasted like a really good and sweet single barrel.
Was it a “marriage” of Mash Bill 1 & 2? Or any other mash bills blended with their standard MB1?
@@krs1905 1, 2 and wheated mashbill
Great review, couldn’t imagine spending $2k on this.
If distilleries consistently produce great regular releases for the average Joe (that including me), I'd argue that it'd be even more profitable business for them from the mass. Scarcity of a special release whiskey doesn't always equate great whiskey. More often than not it's just pure marketing gimmick. We consumers need to make our voice heard by the distillers.
I guess here is another bottle I will never have.😂. I even have issues finding the regular small batch BIB down here. Let me ask you Jason, which one is better in your opinion, the WTBIB17YR or this EH Tayor BIB?
Wild turkey 17..hands down!
@@TheMashandDrum I had a feeling you said that. Great job as always! Cheers!🤙
Just saw this on sale for 500 don’t know if this a good deal
500 is actually not bad. While I don't think it's worth that much I've seen it for 1500 and over in most places.
Sounds vert tasty but not great finish. Sad to hear that part. Thanks for the review. Cheers
thanks Matt!
I was able to find a bottle at my local store. I have it for sale if anyone is interested.
You paid $85 for a pour of a bourbon that cost $70 for the entire bottle. Sheesh. The allocation game is so cruel smh.
Yup..all for the viewers!
Secondary market is ridiculous! I think all rare bourbon should be lottery only, like it is here in Ohio . That way everyone gets a fair chance to get rare bourbons. And yes if I get my hands on one,it will get drunk!
Nice!!!
So, 2 cases of Stagg Junior + 2 cases of Elijah barrel proof = one. Insanity, stupidity and lapse of reason share such fine lines. . .
At those secondary prices you could buy at least 3 30-year scotches. Or your kid's first car. Or build a beastly computer. Or...okay, I'm done.
Your not wrong. Lol
85 for a 1once sample.....wtf
Yeah if I can find it at MSRP, but otherwise I'm good. Luckily it's a big beautiful world of whiskey out there for the more wallet conservatives out there. Cheers 🥃
True statement
Flippers have ruined the hobby of collecting and enjoying a good bottle now and then. I have a few unicorns but paid retail for all of them. If I get an allocated bottle great but if not I'm enjoying finding affordable and underappreciated bottles these days. I don't feel bad about cracking a Pappy 15 I paid less than $150 for.
couldnt agree more!
$70 this fuggin’ guy says, get the fuck outta ‘ere! I know I won’t ever see one anywhere near that, but I have an idea of where I may see one for around $800-$1000 about two hours away from me.
LOL! Right!? I hear 70 and just had to laugh.
Retail is 79.99. Secondary is stupid
I have no problem never seeing this. Secondary is just dumb
