  • The opening of the San Pablo to Lucena PNR Train line is allowing many of us to explore the beautiful province of Quezon. By taking the leisurely train ride to Lucena, we can go further and explore many of Quezon's historic and heritage towns.
This time, we decided to go further east to the historic town of Mauban. This was originally established by the Franciscan missionaries in 1583, and named after a Dumagat warrior named Gat Uban, a young leader with white hairs.
There are so many things to do and explore in Mauban. There are several heritage sites like the 1725 Public Bath, Rizal Hill, San Buenaventura Church and dozens of ancestral houses.
Mauban is also the gateway to the beautiful and quiet Cagbalete Island. We did not visit it this time but we will surely comeback for a leisurely vacation.
But the best part of Mauban is its people: warm, welcoming, humble and ready to make travelers feel at home.
Tara, let's take this 157km journey by bus, train, van and tricycle to Mauban, Quezon.
