  • Thank you folks for enjoying my videos and the RBC Granfondo 2024 which was a longer video than what I expected.
For the record, it was 32C in Whistler and sunny. Very hot and i made it to the finish line in over 9 hours. Well, consider that I take this video for all of you to watch and enjoy as well.
I am trying to look for a new bike to do the 2025 RBC Granfondo Whistler and I like to buy a Cervelo bike ( Cervelo Caledonia 105 Di2 ), if you know this type of bike, can you drop me a message with your opinion guys ?

Hey Roger , great video and I want to highlight that is not easy to do this kind of ride and record and speak at the same time.this is my first time doing this ride snd I almost veiled on it because I had a very strong back ache all night before the ride; I prayed and decided to go anyway, good decision because my back did not bothered me during the ride.
I went with My son is a body builder, he got a lot of cramps so we had to stop a lot. We completed it on 8hours 40 minutes. Despite my back problem and my son’s conditioning we made it to the end and that is what matters, is the spirit of community what gets you there, every single person that makes it to the end have a strong will power no matter the time.
Regarding your experience at the end thanks for haring it, that was really insulting and degrading, people who are making it to the end are doing a great effort and getting that kind receiving that kind of behaviour from the organizers is something really degrading and humiliating and I totally agree with your point of view.
Furthermore I think your experience is not something that should just stay on your channel, It should be heard more broadly like the news so is something that should not happen in the future. No matter what the legal reasons the RBC gran fondo has, is something they should have under control for people who are at some point vulnerable and make it last.
BRAVO ROGER FOR ALL YOUR INPUT ON YOUR VIDEOS, well done.
Muy bien hermano y adelante, cslidad.👌

I agree. The organization needs to respect their athletes - they are the ones who pay with their money, effort and time. I was appalled to see what happened to you in the end, but so happy to see you got your medal.

      Hola Miguel, buenos días amigo!!.
Yes it is not easy to ride to Whistler. You have to prepare months in advance and the hills are heavy, so training for me on 1.2km hills, compared to long hills in the Vancouver area, is.different.
Where I do training, there are some hills that are 1.2km long and steep but the last 200m, gets steeper and I usually make it in 7:30 min for practice and no cars in the area so I feel more comfortable. Ther is a long highway that is flat for 10kms and then another 10 kms to the left until you hit gravel and return so you get no hills but you can do title trail for 10kms.
Around 2016, I went to Mexico City to prepare for the Granfondo and three days before coming to Vancouver, I got stomach ache and the day before the ride, I was in pain. I thought I was not going to make it but I started to ride and had electrolytes and coconut water so I got a bacteria for eating tacos on the side in Mexico and I killed it with Gatorade, coconut water and Canadian electrolytes hahaha.
I am already registered for 2025.
I'm in search for a Cervelo bike next year to ride to Whistler.
Regards to your son y gracias por el mensaje.
      Roger

@@iRonlMoNKleYTHank you, I had fun during the ride. The day before the ride, I met two first timers at my hotel from Sonora, Mexico and during my video, one guy doing the event for the first time so it was fantastic.
Regarding my situation, I will address this issue about removing rider numbers that should never happen. And accident can happen and who can identify you if you are just anyone riding a bike or who to call for help ?
This will be addressed in the next few days.
      I already enrolled for 2025.

Another great video from the Fondo. If my mind serves me correctly you were unable to finish last yr? If that is correct, I'm glad you were successful this year. For the past 6 yrs I've been saying I'm gonna come ride it and every year something comes up that doesn't allow that to happen. Hopefully next year!!! Keep up the great work!!! Congrats!!

Hi good morning.. You made me work looking at the 2023 video and I did finish the ride. I already enrolled for 2025 and keeping on riding. 🎉 I was suppose to return to Alberta two days ago but my flight got canceled and I am leaving on Tuesday and starting with hockey in Spanish on Friday so I'll have hockey videos again.
During the ride, I put a lot of water on my head to keep my body cool.
Next year I will try to be brief in the rest stops so I can improve my record.
      Roger.

Honestly this was my worse record ever. My best time 6:42 Hrs but I am recording and sometimes I hang around and I consume time.
I stopped in Station 2, briefly on 3, stopped 20 min station 4 and few min at stop 5.
Regarding the incident I experienced, the volunteer organizers should never remove the number of the athlete. In the back there is a chip and an emergency contact. If they take it away, you are at risk for no direct identification and who are you ???. This never happened to me and they cut my rhythm with 13kms to go.
The Announcer in Whistler said that the last rider came to the finish line and my family told them Roger is missing and he did not have me on the list, so they started to worry.
In the past, I signed a waiver BUT they have never touched my number and made it to Whistler with no risk and no problems but this year was 32 C and it was way too hot.
