Thanks Amadeu, we use 3 servos. One for turning the steering quadrant which turns the rudder, one to move the launch operator's arm (this one works simultaneously with the rudder) and the 3rd servo controls the engine's speed and forward / reverse functions.
@dreamwisperer We don't anymore, I'm afraid. We may unearth them in the future and share them, though - we're working on a website to host a lot of non-video content, and that's a place we might put some plans if we decide to "publish" them to the world. :)
My grandfather has a drake tail launch just like that. It was built in Maine and is taking 34 feet long. It has a Chevrolet marine v8 engine( not steam).
@Jakanddaxter1999 We may do that - it takes a long time to put together the how-to videos, and unfortunately these steam boat videos don't get much traction on UA-cam, so it's not all that cost effective. A shame, because we love these boats.
Daylight, our steam videos get very little attention, so thanks for commenting. There are a lot of little moving parts to this Graham VR1-A engine kit. A single servo moves the Stephenson reversing gear linkage, while additional servo advance also regulates the throttle both ahead and astern. The rudder quadrant's movement and launchman's arm are operated via 2 additional servos plugged into the same rx channel.
The ambient temperature dictates the initial run time, as a sizable amount of fuel is needed just to warm up engine and its associated piping. The first run of the day may only yield around 5-6 minutes of steaming, depending on throttle management.. but after refueling and replenishing boiler water from a hot source like a thermos, up to ten minute runs can be achieved. Thanks for watching our video!
Did you make this model or is it a model set? The Titanic models you make are amazing BTW. Great video! Also this is irrelevant but I really need to change my profile picture lol
I'm intrested in a boat like this, unfortunatly i don't have the skills and time to build one. Is there a place where i can buy something like this second hand? I like any steamship so i would not care if it isn't one like this or a tug or something.

Nice camera work. I especially like the underwater blast-off.
Spectacular boat and performance. An extra rations of grog for the film crew!!
Quite impressed with the beautifully-detailed live steamers and the vids really do them all justice... Thanks for sharing these!
Very nice! Love the angle and he scale realistic slow-mo.
Great little boat, i was thinking to buy a VR1A engine and now i see it is powerful enough to move a boat.
Beautiful detailed model. Sounds and looks great. Nice work.
Thanks Geoff, we get limited traction on our steam video efforts; it's nice to see them appreciated!
@@Rapidnadion It is a pleasure to see such boats. Thanks for showing.

you bet! it looks awesome! I have seen a lot of RC steam boats but this one is the best
lovely presentation
Great video, nice build.
Thanks for your kind words!
@freitaucher Thanks, Ralph! Glad you enjoyed this one!
@Mrgunlover2 We appreciate the comment, thanks for watching!
@mrwilliamdmoss Thank you! It was a pretty long shoot day out in the cold, but worth it for some of these shots.
@texfanusa So glad you like them - thanks for the comment! Sorry for the delayed reply, as well.
I am so happy i subscribed to you a while ago. great improvements in your videos :D

go? How fast have you driven it?
Gus diZerega Gus, thanks for watching! It's shown at full throttle in the video, only around 2-3 mph but still faster than scale speed.
@rhysdalegend We've tried to improve with each upload! Thanks for sticking with us. :)
@britannic192 Thanks! Check out our channel page for more.
holy shit you got some damn good shots in there for a youtube thank you for the extra effort really appreciate it

@Dirtboy101 Always appreciate your comments, Dirtboy. Thanks much.
amazing!!!nice job! Looks great!
Sorry all ... Was logged in under shadowsail's account when I replied to everyone.
This is so COOL!
it would be cool to see how this boat was made its really cool Nice job
This little boat, and its video, gets a 10/10 for pure charm. What exactly is the powerplant servo modulating? The position of a steam valve?

@Trolleymoose Many thanks!
@TheHawk431 Thank you!
Wow I love these vids
@dreamwisperer This is actually an original design!
its beautiful
@solomonkane23 Thank you!
Great little boat. What would be a maximum running time for your steam powered vessel?

@shadowsail @TitanicWill - shadowsail's reply is official.
that is really cool. where did you get the steam engine?
@Rapidnadion Do you have the plans ? I am really interested!
