Sorry but Dennis Miller is a California boy I know in my heart of hearts he had the best pastrami sandwiches when he was working in New York and all the comments you see of people saying it’s the bomb they’re all from California I’ve been there it sucks with a S and I’m from Jersey
The hot pastrami DIP is the Southern California way to eat it... on a Hoagie roll with nothing more than mustard. Been doing that in Los Angeles since the 1920s.
Topps Jr on Main St near Freemont in Alhambra, Ca it puts The Hat to shame. I recall going to both Topps and The Hat in Alhambra with my dad as a child in the 60's we bought one from each place for the taste test. Topps Jr by far has the most tender, tasty and stacked pastrami dip sandwich. They did back then and still do today. The pastrami, mustard and pickles on the roll is so good. It just melts in your mouth. An older of fries is like a shoebox full and they are really fresh great tasting fries. Topps Jr. is still at the same location and it's still a dive that doesn't appear to be much of a fast food joint, and if you blink you may miss it because its street presence isn't very noticeable. They have a tiny parking lot in back for maybe 5 cars and some street parking. Today they are by far even better than The Hat because the Hat declined in quality and quantity since they branched out to several locations. Give Topps Jr a try. You won't regret it. I will drive there to get a pastrami or ve disappointed with anything else nearby. I even have a Hat not far from me now in Glendora. I will go to Alhambra for Topps any day.
Ohh how I miss my California pastrami sandwiches..moved away 10 years ago and have not found a sandwich that even comes close 😔 I now live in New Mexico .
Pastrami fries: Cook up some russet potato fries all nice and crispy and toss w/ kosher salt; Pastrami , pepperoncini, and bacon in a skillet w/ butter until fragrant, get some cheap-ass cheese sauce and heat that shit up; mix that all together in a 500 degree oven with some shredded cheddar on top until melty. Drizzle w/ homemade ranch dressing. Boom! Perfect drunk snack.
Sorry, Katz is King, Cali has some runner-ups but get off the plane at JFK and go straight to Katz, have it on Rye with mustard and the case is closed. then have a nap.
LauraNYC Laura is Katz still open? I thought I heard they or another famous deli downtown were closing their doors late last year. I hope not. Katz is amazing. Many evenings after class at university over bridge in jersey we’d take the tunnel for sandwiches. Nothing better
It may not be as good as Katz's, but if they are using the proper cut of meat for pastrami from the navel area of the cow, and use the right spices, and cook it properly, you can make a pretty rightous pastrami. If you use the brisket you are not going to get the proper tenderness of pastrami with that melt in your mouth flavor. Brisket is for corn beef, and although it is also delicious, and can be tender, it is not going to match the tenderness of pastrami.
@T3dUbZzBOii 36 Wait is it really 31$ for a Pastrami sandwich there? I've never been so i'm honestly curious. No thanks i'll get a super good steak instead for that price.
OK, you got a shit-kicker and a soft, suburban boy from Pittsburgh raving about a pastrami on white bread, then some rube says, "The pastrami basically tastes like bacon." That should tell you all you need to know.
The guy has a drawer full of cold sliced so-called pastrami which he then throws on a flat top to fry it up crisp. One customer said admiringly "it tastes just like bacon!"". I just watched in stunned disbelief as Guy acted like this was all cool.
I will tell you one item that is good on pastrami though, and that is softened butter on the bread, also, if you decide to eat somewhere that is far less expensive, try softened butter on turkey pastrami, it is good, and cost about 1/3 the price of most beef pastrami sandwiches.
People should eat what they like, but if you crisp up the pastrami until it tastes like bacon, with the average price of pastrami sandwiches, you could get a 1 to 2 pound bacon sandwich for less money, i am confused a little on this one.
Real deli never would serve this is the gentiel Santa Barbara version cooked on griddle real deli meat comes out of steamer hot not a grill like bacon pastrami is not Jewish bacon freaking goohem
That's how I like to see Dennis Miller! So the dude no longer acts, oh well, but I don't get all the Republican comedy and frequent appearances on the Bill O'Reilly Show. I think more people would know who the hell Dennis Miller is if he stuck with his original talent which used to be acting! Not sure what happened to his acting career, maybe he had a falling out with Jeff Katzenburg or something....you knows?
Probably All of Hollywood tried to rape him, or force him to watch producers rape children so that he could get acting work. So he said no and does a radio show from Santa Barabara...where people dont whore themselves out to work....#Metoo style.
Man I remember the 1st time i tried the , Moms PLT I was like WOW the best thing i had in a long time we eat there like 3 times a week when we were working in SantaBob that was like 4yrs ago. I went this past Saturday and WOW lets just say the most disappointing sandwich of my life and to make things worse was that i was telling my son u gota try this (best pastrami) u will ever have and bam it well i cant say it sucked because it was ok but there was like only not even a hand full of pastrami even my boy was like ,its ok because he didn't wana insult me I was like this SUCKS where's the pastrami ? I know Covd and meat prices went up but i paid $13 for a sandwich that had like a quarter o what THE HAT puts in there sandwich . Cant say I wasn't warned my brother told me don't go to Norton's there not like b-4 so ima tell u guys DONT GO TO NORTONS THERE NOT LIKE B-4 , If u do go after u order your sandwich just with the other half of sandwich make 1 because u will be disappointed and will not taste the pastrami at all
“This feels very Long Island to me!” No, nothing about that feels like Long Island you schmuck! We do pastrami on rye with mustard, bam that’s all you need. None of this ungatz with his pastrami blt or hot dog. And it’s pastrami, not “strami” putz
I doubt it would even matter to any of them. But, from experience try being white and walking into a black establishment if you want some excitement. Do you always see color in your life?
Pastrami in Santa Barbara? The stupidity of the question is matched only by the assumption that such a thing is possible. When you are 3,000 miles from New York, you are a million miles from pastrami.
That look good. Thanks for sharing. Have a blessed evening/weekend everyone. God loves you all, and so do I.
I just had a pastrami Reuben from Norton's for lunch. You can tell it's a good Reuben when it falls apart in your hand.
No, you can tell it wasn't assembled correctly. The structure of a sandwich is as important as the ingredients.
@@Ricopolico So true its a fine line.
@@Ricopolico agreed otherwise it’s a plate not a sandwich
Norton BS real pastrami Langers #19
There was 0 waiting. Into the mouth instantly. You know a great friend when you meet.
Dennis Miller is the Man. Glad to see him on this episode.
Looking great keep it up
Old Faves, New Craves, episode aired in 2012
This was on Episode 10 of the 13th season of this show's run, and aired for the 1st time on February 13, 2012.
=P
I love how both these comments are correct
One of my favorite episodes

I deeply regret only eating pizza and Chinese food when I was in NYC for a day. My dumb self forgot all about delis.
He's actually from Pittsburgh.

I was born in Santa Barbara and I have never been there hahah
that pastrami dog needs some mustard
I get that bad boy a lot, it honestly doesn’t. 😁
Nah it does.
It looks awesome without it, but a little spicy brown mustard could elevate that even further

Honestly...has anybody ever laughed at anything that Miller guy said? That guy is an artist making a life out of not being funny....as a "comedian".
I want to give you a complement on outstanding shows and awesome presentations .
Goddamn Dennis Miller is such a fucking Dennis Miller

Bruh, the pastrami is the star of the show. Don't take away from that. Pastrami, mustard mayo, butter and toast that bread. Swiss cheese. Simple.
Never had mayo on a pastrami sandwich. Must be a west coast thing. On the east coast it's mustard only.
What a cameo. Dennis Miller 😲👍😲❤️😲😁
That dog would probably give me a chubby 😳
Wow that looks so fukin good 😲❤️😲
I want some pastrami now.
Nortons is bomb after a long hike in Santa Barbaras rising mountains.
KATZ'S DELI IN NYC!!!!!!!! NO MORE NEED BE SAID EVER!!!!!
Me encanta el pastrami
Every Pastrami fan knows it all starts and stops with Katz in NYC...since 1888.....
Sarap Naman 💞💞
Man I can’t figure out why but now I’m wanting a pastrami dip and pastrami dog
Probably because you watched a video of them being made. Genius
Pastrami Bonanza! So many ways to present it. Dennis Miller great addition.

Lol Katz is just a tourist $$$ trap, many say Langer’s is better anyways.
I saw you like 3 year ago in Peoria Az Tailgaters
They still have to show them how to East Coast does in New York those sandwiches are nowhere near as thick as they should be
These thin ass slices man
@Ted Wilson They do if you buy two 😁👍
love nortons deli, go there everyday.
feel the bern how much do you weigh nowadays?
I never gone to this place but because Guy Fieri went I am going to go after this is all over
Someday but for now I got my Katz few minutes away from me 😉👍

Just went there on Saturday and had the best Pastrami Sammich in my life. They beat Langers Deli, and that's saying alot.
This must be the same shitty pastrami that they served up in Guy's failed Times Square dive that everyone laughed at.
So no one noticed that brad paisley is eating there?
Triple kiss for guy hahaha!!
I wonder what Katz's Deli in NYC thinks about the Pastrami.
sevenfitsorage my guess is not favorably, can't beat tradition with all these silly bells and whistles
+sevenfitsorage I agree with you.

Arrys in montebello or the hat famous pastrami
Andy F Arry’s for the price has the best pastrami, the hat is ok, would be better if they stuffed it as much as Arry’s does.
Topps Jr in Alhambra. Been there since the 50's beats the Hat.
Good lord I need a pastrami dog
Besides egg...is there anything Guy doesn't like?
Dennis is loaded.
3:59 He just committed a cardinal sin to not salt the tomatoes right then and there
Pastrami and Bacon is delicious with a little Italian or thousand island dressing 🤙
Yeah. Miller doesn't dye his hair.
Never a fan of fried pastrami. It should be in it's own juices.
AMEN
OK, you got a shit-kicker and a soft, suburban boy from Pittsburgh raving about a pastrami on white bread, then some rube says, "The pastrami basically tastes like bacon." That should tell you all you need to know.
I’m old enough to remember when Dennis Miller was funny
I saw Dennis Miller and then thought, nah, I'll pass on this episode. 🙄
I know. Not funny anymore.
When was that I missed it
Too intelligent for you I geuss
Me too
They should salt the tomatoes
Jaboody dubs!!!
Mayo on a pastrami sandwich?? Figures it's on the west coast.
Frankly Speaking Yep with lettuce and tomatoe and onions with peperchinis mustard and mayonnaise
The guy has a drawer full of cold sliced so-called pastrami which he then throws on a flat top to fry it up crisp. One customer said admiringly "it tastes just like bacon!"". I just watched in stunned disbelief as Guy acted like this was all cool.

This restaurant does not live up to the hype.
They never do
Been here and jt sucks tbh
1:23 did he say "the bomb taco on the East Coast"....????East Coast!? Southwest got the tacos on lock down! Yay yay!
That's the point bruh, he calls it a surprise. Finding a dope taco on the east coast is not nearly as easy as in the southwest.
Dennis Miller!! Great pastrami babe lol
Their pastrami looks like the packaged market stuff
Three pickles in Santa Barbara is MUCH better
Agreed 👍
So this is what Dennis does these days...
LOL this episode is damn near 10 years old.
Pastrami looks dry😢

Love seeing Dennis Miller. Great food makes politics irrelevant.
The rich chronometer intriguingly flap because cardigan substantially boast behind a cuddly finger. mean, milky patch
Go to Katz deli young man
For the love of all good sandwiches do not cut it diagonally
Thunk is not a word.
I have heard that KATZ DELI is closed? ? Anyone know if it is true??
No it's not closed.
That would be pretty cool to have Guy Fieri be your dad
Okay sure?
Dennis Miller is obnoxious.

Dennis Miller is the man. Good conservative.

wtf. So...why not just order bacon and cut out the middle man?
Did they have any footage of Dennis Miller not talking with his mouth full? Disgusting!
