    Holbein gouache is undoubtedly one of the top gouache brands available in the market! I hope you’ll consider exploring and reviewing their Irodori sets in the future. I'm excited for part two of your unboxing and your upcoming reviews. Thank you for your honesty, and salute to you for staying true to your values by refusing to review products on a brand's terms. ☺

      Thank you. I've been using Holbein Gouache for months now, and It's weird that I'm actually happier with the Holbein gouache than their watercolors. Haha. They're so creamy. I think it's just refreshing to use highly opaquenpaints after years of watercoloring. Haha. The Irodori sets are nicely themed sets. I believe there are 4 sets? Ohmy. That's 48 colors to collect. My wallet is shaking. 🤣
      And thank you too for appreciating my work here. That means a lot. 🙏

      @@AllanJayQuesada I guess it depends on what paper you use them. They do a bIt on impermeable papers but not on Bristol(I don’t like them on Bristol for that reason, but some people swear by it and hate impermeable papers). But for me it’s about the layering, transparency and luminosity

    • @AllanJayQuesada
      @AllanJayQuesada  16 днів тому

      @gertietheduck hmmm. So i will need to explore other papers then.. aside from bristol, i remember using my markers on snow white and onion skin papers.. and they work well too, but you limit the layers because of the paper's light weight.

    • @gertietheduck
      @gertietheduck 16 днів тому +1

      @ yeah, I think I quite like impermeable papers because the bottom layers get reactivated a bit so for me it helps blending, but a lot of people would find that really undesirable. I think it’s about what you are used to. It’s like different mediums.

    • @AllanJayQuesada
      @AllanJayQuesada  16 днів тому +1

      @gertietheduck the old me (who did not like watercolors much), preferred not mixing markers and preferred layering instead. But now, i think I'm curious how markers could blend like watercolors. I think I'd like to explore that feature. 😊

      @lottedekoning538 thank you. 🙏 yes, I really need a mid and deep red, like an Alizarin, but their mid reds are not the most lightfast.. though I know it is not much of a concern in oil.. a color I'm looking at is the Cadmium Red Deep. For the Purple, I'm torn between Manganese Violet and Ultramarine Pink. Actually, an artist I appreciate so much told me his top 2 brands are old holland and michael harding. It just so happened that michael harding was the one on sale in November, so i took advantage of the offer. 😅

    The MH burnt umber dries very fast, within 24 hours. It's got it's uses. Get the red iron oxide - mixed with ultramarine you get transparent umber like brown which gives you warm sepia when mixed with white through to black which is great for making cool neutral greys when mixed with white. I recommend the carribean turquoise, it's a multi purpose colour for pretty greens when mixed with cad yellow lemon (which isn't too strong so you might find yourself using a little bit more than expected) and yellow ochre PY42. Also carribean turquoise mixed with warm white (pw6+tiny dash of PY42) will give you a tropical sky blue colour similar to cerulean. I also recommend Amethyst for floral and pretty blues when mixed with cobalt teal pg50. You chose well for the green umber. Great for taming the cad red light for skin tones.

    • @jennw6809
      @jennw6809 15 днів тому +1

      Interesting about the burnt umber in oil paints drying fast -- it dries so hard-to-rewet in watercolor, as I'm sure you know. It seems to do that in every brand but I never thought about that extending to oil paint as well. Pigments do all have their own personalities, don't they?

    • @AllanJayQuesada
      @AllanJayQuesada  15 днів тому +1

      Wow. Thank you for these suggestions. I'll keep all these in mind. But 24hrs for burnt umber to dry? That's instant. Maybe i need a retardant incase?

    • @AllanJayQuesada
      @AllanJayQuesada  15 днів тому +1

      Yes they do. Many earth pigments dry fast unless there's honey. In oils the solution can be a retardant.

    You did that portrait of your mom at 10 years old??? Wow!!! You obviously have innate talent. I think portraiture is the the most difficult art form. Do you still do portraits? I'd love to see that on your channel. And yes, we appreciate you being 100% unbiased in your reviews! The oil paints look yummy 🙂

    • @AllanJayQuesada
      @AllanJayQuesada  15 днів тому +1

      Yes, i did that when I was 10, i was on 4th grade and i used Marie's Oil paints. I could vividly remember that the small set of 12 colors then was 2USD. Haha. Sometimes I still do portraits for some projects if i will be required to. But i hate portraiture as you've said, it's difficult. While i think i can paint sensible lookinv portraits, copying faces is another skill, I'm not very confident of.. so i usually just paint the people i know or celebrities.
      Yes. Thanks! I'll always be unbiased, till I release my own handmade paints. 🤣

    You should record while out of the country even though they are work trips. That way you can write off everything for taxes and end up making money even though it technically costs you nothing. By recording and uploading will on location it will become a work expense. Oh wait, your tax laws maybe different from mine, but it sure doesn't hurt to check into it.

      I sure would love to document the travels, but it will be challenging due to work load and the fact that my boss will be with me on the tour. Haha. I can take videos for sure and paint at the hotel, but that would be more of a narrated one. With regard to tax, I'm not exactly sure what you're pertaining to. When it comes to UA-cam income, I get tax from US since Google Adsense is a US Company. As my income gets transferred to a local bank, it is charged with some bank fees on top of the US Tax. All in all, around 20% of the gross income gets omitted because of the tax and charges. I heard taxes are bigger for US citizen creators.
