The image shows the stay stitching really far from the cut line. It makes it look like the stitching will show when work is turned out. It might be helpful to add some text that says “inside the sean allowance” or something like that.
Can staystitching be done with 2 layers of fabric or does it have to be one layer. I’m not finding any information about staystitching with more than one layer of fabric. Also, does it matter which side of the fabric the staystitching is done on?
Great question! You mean, can you staystitch two layers together at the same time? If the fabrics are of similar weight, you could, but that would essentially be sewing them together, rather than staystitching. When you staystitch, the goal is to stabilize a curve to prevent stretching, so it's typically done on a single layer of fabric right after cutting and before you assemble pieces together. You can staystitch from the right or wrong side of the fabric, since it will not be visible when the garment is assembled!
What type of stitch do you use, is it a basting stitch?
Just a regular straight stitch!
Is it just one continuous line or is it two lines going toward the center? And if it two lines do they intersect?
I hope you make slower videos with narrative.
Thanks for the feedback!
I agree about needing narrative. Dyslexics will appreciate it! :)
