This is from the swedish television show Richter and the reporter is Niklas Hyland, I've been trying to download this for ages. Thank you so very much bro!
Funny to hear Gonz with the young-person syndrome of pre-mature oldness already in 1999. "I'm old now, I just like to ride down hill and weave between people...." Fast forward 25 years and nah, he doing switch trayflips
This exact video is the first glimpse I got of skateboarding when I was a kid and I've loved the Gonz ever since. Just everything about it i perfect, from the quirky and awkward interview to the graceful foot drag on the hill bomb that no one else could make it look cool.
@@claytonjamesTCS i mean he is like the youngest older guy ever.. he hasn't changed much in the past 40 years he has been skating... just the same raw soul

It is a lazy way to look at things.. More or less he was trying to say ignorance is bliss and he doesn’t want to take that away from other people’s attachments to skateboarding because that is the art in itself
@@estebanvazquez1524 Maybe he was trying to say that skateboarding has always been a sub culture and rebellious. The only people/companies that supported it were those that truly loved it and now it seems like a fad. gonz is a pure example of freedom of expression .Freedom period to do whatever you want whenever you want with no rules. this footage is a great example of that
I can totally relate to what he says here. My favorite thing to do in the world (for me, it's not skateboarding) is something I prefer to just get out and do rather than sitting around talking about it, writing about it, or marketing myself through photos and video and shit. It's just about being on my own and doing the thing that makes me love life. He's so much fun to watch, though. I'm glad he lets people film him.
Mark has it all and he never had to be a fake tough guy with security guards or property owners to earn his stripes. He exudes love and that's why everybody loves him.
The Gonz fkn inspires me,all the way I used to skate when I was only 6 right up till I was 26 then it died on me,but I always wanted to skate but never had the urge till I watched Marc skate again. Then I thought fk it what the hell if he can I can still skate,& the way he skates big hills kicking it fast,is what I love to,so fk it,back to doing what I love in life,S,K,A,T,E
how can the interviewer ask him a few questions about stile and skating in general and then not even get that "how do you express yourself" is one kind of an unnecessary questions. but the interview itself, or rather mark gonzale's answers were pretty interesting and enjoyable. the best thing is, that he didnt't change his attitude until today since then
The way he's dragging his back foot is fucking sick!!! Anyone who has ever bombed a big hill and tried this knows how hard it can be. So rad no one else like Gonz. I know he said he doesnt like to be videod but im glad he does very inspiring to watch now i just want to go skate through traffic!!!
You just have to love and appreciate Gonz for his true originality. I agree with his views on skating. It's a free range "sport". Its not categorized in a box. It's so fun and designed to be used the way the rider wants to use it. Free of judgment . Let's just enjoy it. 🤙
I've met him last year in Paris at the Adidas demo. Fantastic person. Bet he needed a new pair of shoes after one skate session. And I thought that Busenitz was the king of speed...
I don't literally mean we owe him something lol it's an expression. I mean we owe him our respect and appreciation for breaking down barriers and being such a pioneer for skateboarding.
when you see a video of gonz you click and dont ask questions
Dan Munhoz I agree

Gonz is the man! He shreds so much, does not care at all. So free to do what he does best and a whole city to play around in to do it.
even the way he slows down when hes bombing hills is rad, hes the definition of a skater
That's the closest thing I've ever seen to legit surfing on the streets
Lmao I was thinking the same thing
That shit is crazy!

If you're trying to be cool instead of just skate, you're going to look uncool
Gonz talking about how he's old in '99..... Damn
I know, he was only like 31 at the time, I wish i could be 31 again....
I wish everyone else got old but him
@@claytonjamesTCS i mean he is like the youngest older guy ever.. he hasn't changed much in the past 40 years he has been skating... just the same raw soul
Possibly the best piece of footage of Gonz on the Tube.
His love for the sport shines through in his skating so much. That last hill bomb was really fun to watch that was amazing that foot drag is so sick.
So sick that what?
@@paulrevere2928 so sick that we're still talking about his comment 9 years later. ;-)

Mark Gonzalez was asked several years ago what his favorite feeling was about skateboarding? He replied “when I almost fall and I don’t.”
He's going so freaking fast.
skating: an art form not to compare but to appreciate others..art form

Imagine the stuff Gonz has done on a skateboard that haven’t been recorded.
The Gonz having oysters at Swans, ....epic.

One of the best to ever step on a skateboard and also one of the most original.
it just occurred to me he's being interviewed at the Swan Oyster Depot.
It looked like he was about to break the sound barrier on a skateboard
I was MarK Gonzales for Halloween @ James Denman Middle School SF.CA 2001
I love the philosophy of this video, makes some strong points about skating as an artform.
This guy is awesome!!! I love cruising around doing ollies to get just keep on cruising.
lmfao Gonz flexing and saluting while foot braking is the greatest thing ever.
Gonz forever.
Best skater of all time
"Its better to not say nothing then to say something..." -Gonz
Yea..
deep bruh bruh
Damn double negatives. But who needs grammar when you are a skate God.
Every spectator on the sidewalk has the look of wtf, absolutely the best
0:49 the happiness in that ladies face seeing him not slam was priceless
The one and only. All skaters owe this guy something.
Mark Gonzales is the definition of Kamikaze Skateboarding!! Amazing guts gowing down that hill!!
I love the chick that’s amazed that he doesn’t die in the street having no idea he’s the fucking gonz…
THE FUCKING GONZ
The shot at 0:31 with the woman's face at the end deserves an Academy Award
I just love how stunned that lady was. She wasn’t even mad or anything just amazed… just like all of us
lol I love how he tells the interviewer that he didn't want to meet up with him.
@3:10 when he's talking about how skateboarding is a free sport, the trolley in the next shot says free on it
Not afraid to drag his foot. respect
That's a cable car, not a trolley fyi
Synchronicity
@@skinhead-ej8ff why would he be afraid of dragging his foot?
Nice placebo pic
Gonz is still so fun for me to watch
I love listening to mark he nails it
No one foot brakes like the gonz
This video is proff why hes the sickest
Before bourdain showed the world that oyster place...mark was there..

Mark is graceful. He gets more creative with skateboarding then anyone else...
love his way to ride , even his foot break is stylist
Watching him slow down! Very funny...gotta love Mark.
original free lunch
greatest man to ever grace this earth with his presence.
I'd start skating only because of this guy.
