    Keep ignoring the haters Vicki for they don't know the loving heart of a crocodile, always been my favourite animal...Maybe these bastards should search up " chito " & get educated

      Thanks Shannon Hutchinson, for your supportive comment and which I really appreciate ! I've enjoyed reading the comments to this, my latest video, as so far, the comments have been pretty positive :) And yes, for anyone who doesn't understand my relationship with my Crocs, they should most definitely watch the "Chito and Pocho" videos !!

    I would own a Johnson's crocodile, a spectacled caiman or gharial but i wouldn't own a saltwater crocodile lol.

      I actually do own four Johnstoni Crocs and believe it or not, they're way more defensive (aggressive) than Jilfia !! LOL

    I have worked with all gators and crocs and no matter what you think...THEY are not pets ! It's just a matter of time where you could be their next meal ! FYI

      Yeah, I hope you're both right.......I am always aware of her dangerous capabilities of seriously injuring me & therefore I try to take all precautions to prevent that from ever happening ! I love her to bits, but am also cautious when around her....

      Vicki Lowing ....No disrespect Miss Vicki I just don't want you to accidentally get hurt. In the 1990s I loved working with, feeding, taking care of them but almost got bit in the leg. They are so fast and powerful and very hungry in warmer weather. I love them too but when they get bigger please keep more distance from them for your safety. The salty we had try to get me by jumping 6 foot out of the water and snap went his jaw. So powerful ! Take care my friend ! Be safe !

    • @TheCroclady
      @TheCroclady  6 років тому +3

      None taken, The Simple Life ! And thanks for your comment and concern for my welfare.....I really appreciate it very much ! And yes, I am very much aware of how powerful and fast crocs can be......I've heard Jilfia's jaws snap closed quite a few times when she's lunged out of her pool at me. She keeps me on my guard and ensures I never become complacent when around her. As you can see from my video, I feed her from tongs and close to the ground, as I don't want her to start jumping upwards for her food (like I've seen many crocs do when fed). In the above video, I also have the door to slam shut as a safety barrier, if necessary. Jilfia often insists on coming inside my home to be fed which I'm now tending to discourage at times. When in my house she is on slate floors and coz of her weight, she slips and slides to mobilize, which is a good advantage for me as she is unable to move quickly or even lunge. I've also learned to "read" her eyes and body language to give me an idea of what she may be thinking. And I'm also very much aware of her being a salty and therefore unpredictable and how dangerous she could be to me.
      But of course, despite being aware of all this, accidents still can occur, so once again, thank you for your comment and I'll do my best to ensure I always stay safe around Jilfia.
      By the way, where did you work with crocs, out of interest ?

      Thanks Niel Ron, for your comment and advice......I do know not to ever turn your back on them which I do practice, but hadn't thought of having something handy, just in case......so thanks for that bit of advice which I will take on. No matter how much one knows (or think they know), you can never stop learning and my ears are always open !

      Vicki Lowing how much does she eat? Do u just give her chicken?

    • @TheCroclady
      @TheCroclady  6 років тому +1

      Jilfia eats approx. 1 to 2 kilograms every second day, that is, when she's feeding regularly as she is at present. Her feeding regime is "on demand"......she lets me know when she's hungry and I feed her. However, her feeding regime can vary a lot.....from every second day to just once per week or even less sometimes ! And no, i don't feed her just chicken, although it is her preference, I also feed her red meat and occasionally when available, a dead rabbit or bird (road kills). I also supplement her meat with the necessary vitamins and minerals.

    Does feeding them get expensive?

    • @TheCroclady
      @TheCroclady  6 років тому +2

      Yes, it does get expensive but not nearly as much as it costs in electricity and water costs (which are very high) !!

    My corn snake is 3 feet 1-2 inches long. Do you consider him an adult or subadult?

    • @TheCroclady
      @TheCroclady  6 років тому +1

      To be honest Nico, i know very little about corn snakes or how big they grow, as we don't have them here in Australia. I reckon you'd know a lot more about them mate. And rather than going on the length of your snake, I'd be going on it's age.....a sub-adult is nearly full grown and adult is of breeding age.....hope that helps !

    • @nicosy282
      @nicosy282 6 років тому

      I know that you Aussies don't have corn snakes in your country. It was this article that I came across with.
      www.dailytelegraph.com.au/news/nsw/feral-snake-invasion-across-nsw-authorities-issue-warning-as-more-sightings-expected-over-summer/news-story/652d9d0f14310fed5cc70469899f94c3

    • @TheCroclady
      @TheCroclady  6 років тому

      Yeah, I soughta guessed you would've known we don't have corn snakes here, I just said that coz I don't know anything about them. And thanks for the above link too......I was well aware of people illegally keeping corn snakes and other exotics here, but I certainly wasn't aware of exotics such as corn snakes, being seen in the wild here ! I knew the red eared slider turtle had been seen in the wild, but not about the other exotics......so that was an eye-opener for me, aye !!

    I was thinking of getting a crocodile as a pet.. 👍

    • @TheCroclady
      @TheCroclady  6 років тому +1

      My advice to you is to give this a lot of thought first. Crocodiles require specialist care and a lot of dedication and commitment, not to mention, they are also very costly to keep. I have a passion for my crocs and have had a passion for crocs since I was 6 years old and without thinking, was thus able to "bond" with them. If you do decide to get a croc, you firstly need to do a lot of research and study into caring for them properly. And remember, crocs live a very long time, so getting one will be a life-long commitment......

    What if jilfia brings her boyfriend or some babies?

    • @TheCroclady
      @TheCroclady  6 років тому +1

      Jilfia lives in captivity at my home, so there's no chance of her finding and bringing a boyfriend from the wild, let alone have babies .......and there aren't any crocs living in the wild where I live.

    are you slightly scared of it ( I would be) or just cautious of a large predator that has survived for millions of years, or both ?

    • @TheCroclady
      @TheCroclady  6 років тому +3

      Thanks k c for your comment.....and no, I'm not scared of her but yes, am always cautious of her.....As you said, she carries millions of years of survival instinct as an apex predator and that should never be underestimated ! and another thing, to feel or show fear of her will instinctively trigger those predatory instincts and therefore it's very important to remain calm around her !!

    • @TheCroclady
      @TheCroclady  6 років тому +2

      Thank you Niel Ron, for your nice and correct comment ! I certainly hold a very high respect for my Crocs.......as an apex predator, Crocs demand to be respected !! And like you said, after all the years I've spent observing my Crocs, it's easy to know when any of them aren't happy about something......

    She looks calm. Do you let her hunt for food sometimes?

    • @TheCroclady
      @TheCroclady  6 років тому +2

      She is a very placid Croc. Unfortunately, she doesn't get the opportunity to hunt for food coz I live in a residential area. However, she knows where to find me when she's hungry for a feed......in other words, she hunts me down to feed her......so she's sought of hunting !
